So I just watched this video: The real reason dating is broken

In short, it says dating is broken because men expectations are of an old traditional woman whereas the social contract where men gave financial support and social recognition in exchange for childcare and housework is broken. It adds also that because of technology we live in a world where we spend more time at home than doing in-person activities where we could meet possible partners.

As a solution it proposes to make more friends before deciding to date.

Personally, I have experienced how most women don't really want to date anymore. I usually approach 100 women per year. I don't try to make friends, just propose to date another day after talking for a while or if there is not much time to talk I just take their number, chat for a while and propose to date. Most women don't answer after proposing to date.

I don't really know for sure how it works in reverse. I believe women just don't approach men that much but it still does not answer why they don't want to date or follow on with dates (I personally always follow with all girls, if I have not it has been counted times). If we follow the explanation in the video then it is because they have had unsatisfactory previous expectations with other men and just believe the man is not going to be a good trade off.

In my case I try to be open and I am more than willing to contribute to house chores (even if I earn more). Friends of mine have had the same experience being like me. So, this point in the video does not apply to me at least.

In the video it is also talked about dating apps. It mentions how if you have many options you start to filter and if a relationship if eventually formed satisfaction is lower.

I have also used dating apps, most of the time I got very low or no matches despite being good looking and well off financially. Female friends have commented how they get an enormous amount of matches. I have also read that the ratio of men versus women in these apps is usually 9 to 1 in favour of men. Therefore, I am going to say the "Zillow Effect" talked in the video applies especially to women in dating apps what makes them more picky than men. Would they still be more picky if the ratio would be 50/50?

I believe most women still want the old traditional man that contributes more financially but they don't want to do the chores or bear children at the same time because they want to focus on their career.

The reality, like the video mentions, is that nowadays many women are earning more than men but they still have high expectations for a man that is very limited compared to the past so women become more picky in search of this man and they just don't want to date the average one.

In the end it is a mismatch of expectations. I am still going to support women, like the video argues, in that many men still want the traditional woman without contributing at home or with children but I don't agree with the video in that men are the only ones to blame.
