Young Gen Y men are realizing that feminism will not help them. They want solutions, but they don't want to throw their lot in with the MRAs, I think most of whom are a predominately older crowd.

The dramatic inequality of the modern youth SMP, the concomitant presence of a large sexual underclass and a much discussed "hookup culture" all laid the fuel for men to become disaffected with feminism. All it takes is one match, and the man will go to TRP.

For a lot of people, apparently that match was "#GamerGate." I think Validazeh reported a dramatic increase in Redpill numbers following that episode. A lot of young men realized that the progressive left was full of shit.

For me, it was Charlie Hebdo. I looked at both Breitbart and Thinkprogress the day of the tragedy, to get both sides of the story. The latter barely even mentioned it. That was the day I realized that progressives, leftists, and feminists are full of shit, and I turned hard to the right. Redpill is a part of that.

It is a backlash against modern feminism plain and simple. I would say I am more anti-feminist than I am pro-RP. I fall in line more with RP because they are the most vocal critics of feminism that I see currently. I don't agree with every specific thing said on the sub, not nearly, but because I have such a huge beef with feminist narratives I still prefer it to anything "mainstream" which might condone them.

The various news stories concerning rape hysteria this year were what really drove to me to TRP whereas before I had been very skeptical of the sub, at best. I couldn't believe what I was hearing girls say about this topic, how supposedly "oppressed" they were and how "unfair" everything was for them, and it really got to me.

Two commenters have mentioned promise of sex, I don't think thats it. From my experience, feminism also somewhat "promises sex". Neither TRP nor feminism guarantee anything, but they both say "if you act more like we thing you should act, then it is more likely you'll have sex." I mean how many times have we seen the articles about "share housework and she'll want more sex", "I only sleep with feminist men", and "I would never have sex with a red pill/PUA guy"?

Another view I have seen is that red pill isn't growing, its simply that all the [vocal minority of] people who feel that way are congregating, so they are easier to spot. I don't think thats it either. TRP is much less objectionable in its view on women compared to much of the world. It also appeals to "former betas", meaning people who previously sympathized with feminism before deciding something was amiss (I consider myself a part of this group).

I personally think it is growing because more and more people want to voice their frustrations about their experiences on this topic.

I would say it makes a lot of sense to a lot people. While it over generalizes many things, at the end of the day it says that women are just like men in that they're shitty people as well. The fact is, the vast majority of us are pretty selfish, narcissistic, and human.

The other factor I would say is that it works to some extent. Taking women of the pedestal that many men construct definitely helps interactions. Moreover, the basic tenets of self imporvement (exercising/studying/earning money) do make you more attractive to the large population. Plate spinning also works to a large extent for those men who do already pick up women.

The last reason why it's more popular is probably because it serves as a circle jerk to some extent. In the same way 2XC frequently circle jerk over outrage on women-specific topics (abortion, lack of women in STEM, etc) TRP circle jerks over things like false rape accusations or guys getting screwed over by women.

There are a lot of young men who are hurting and looking for answers. These guys have been poorly prepared for finding the intimacy they need to be emotionally healthy and they're highly receptive to a one-stop philosophy that claims to have the answers that they're looking for.

Consider also, that if a guy's main problem is that he's a total pussy and a follower to the degree that he scares ALL women away, simply growing a spine is going to increase his romantic success by leaps and bounds despite whatever other warts he's got or how many people he pisses off. This sip of water after dying of thirst can really turn a fella into an effective evangelist to others.

The format also appeals to some of the personality types that were "doormats", "nice guys", and "followers". To someone who's chronically unsure, hearing "this IS truth" is very comforting.
Lastly, don't discount the value of them having a safe place to vent all of their vitriol either - righteous rage feels better than helplessness and fear.

Source: Experienced cringey nice-guy and redpill-lite phases when I was younger. I'm a little older now and getting the intimacy that I want on my terms so I'm more mellow.

I post here because I wish I didn't spend so much time being pissed-off and being self destructive before learning to chill the fuck out. Kindness and vulnerability done right are the most potent aphrodisiacs I'm aware of.

The promise of sex. I'm guessing a lot of guys who'd attend a Julien Blanc convention would be attracted to the red pill. If you've seen the guys sitting in the audience at a Julien Blanc show, you'd see they probably do need a bit of help.

Well simply because it's an aggregate of people with different problems and ambitions in life who find themselves under the same anti-feminist banner whether it's the virgin nerd, the guy who broke up with his highschool gf, the divorced-raped husband, the gay weight lifter, the guy who is fed up with women, the misogynist etc...
