Not an 80's song but an honest question.

I was thinking about my own story, or the latter chapter of my dating saga to be precise and this question came to mind. I was 26, recently divorced and a friend had introduced me to this blond bombshell who's first words to me were, "You're too short." (she's 10" taller) followed up by "For anything" after I asked her what I was too short for. Turns out that I wasn't, and we started seeing each other casually.

That's the real point of this post. It was supposed to be casual. I was divorced and didn't want to go down that road again, she was divorced and didn't want to go down that road, so it was going to be perfect. A FWB within walking distance, who let me drive her car with her MD2B vanity plate, and from her perspective a guy she got along with, had great sex with, but would stay out of the way of her busy life so she could drop the 2B from her vanity plate and provide the life she wanted for her two children.

Burns penned a line about how the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry, and he couldn't have been more right. Before I knew it, I didn't want her to leave. I could feel the spring in my step when I answered a call at work, and it was her asking if I was getting off on time. I started to make excuses to not see any of the other women in my life, even Becky (to keep with RP nomenclature) who'd I'd been sleeping with off and on since I was 17 through 3 of her marriages and one of mine (she's up to 9 for what it's worth). I fell in love and it changed everything.

Now, luckily it was mutual, and we were married the 2nd time for both of us, because we fell in love and just didn't want to live apart. She dropped the vanity plate altogether, and we've had a great life ever since.

That's where I'm coming from, and it begs the question: What about love? How does love fit into this RP philosophy, which from my perspective is nothing more than a declaration of a cold war between the sexes with no end in sight. How does love figure into it?
