It's because it is more true to use qualifiers than to make blanket generalizations, and because it also doesn't offend those people who don't fit under those generalizations.

Anytime someone asks a question in a way that will inevitably make one gender look worse I tend to be suspicious and less forthcoming.

The OP is already set up as "men are more willing to date down" which we all know will get taken as "men are noble and better because they value money less" or "women are biologically driven to seek a man with resources while men seek youth and beauty" by the RPers. Even if you don't answer, someone will say "oh look no BP answers, guess they are too scared to admit the truth lolol RP confirmed!" Even if you don't play, they take it as a win.

In any case, someone with my PoV will never give a satisfying answer to OP. I could make twenty or more WoT comments about the historical context for our modern dating patterns and I would only be dismissed as a biased feminist man hater.

If I were to guess, blues like to include more details. I've noticed reds like to oversimplify things. So when reds present their oversimplified idea blues add more details.

Again, I don't know in that thread that you posted, I gave my answer the way I did because how am I supposed to know? Just from what I see men and women usually date each other's socioeconomic counterparts, some women don't, some men do, what that number is, I have no clue.

This happens also because TBP isn't a philosophy; TBP is everything else, and a big part of bpers don't really dwell on these things and also don't care about them; we, in general (not trying to speak for anyone here, but generalizing for brevity) don't have an agenda to push, other than most of us can't stand the toxicity coming from TRP / PUA / Incel.

only the first one seems like a dodge. the second example is obviously a disagreement, and the last example outright says "i don't know".

the second example is a disagreement that includes an explanation ("no, and this is why"), but to me, that doesn't disqualify it from being a straight answer.

plus, a lot of what's discussed here is matter of opinion (even this very thread/OP). i think most people here regardless of pill would agree that it's foolish to state every opinion as if it's unfalsifiable fact. so, a lot of responses will allow room for things like exceptions or disagreement.

there may be some who just argue or point out exceptions for the sake of it, though. maybe i'm not thinking of those because i don't pay much attention to them.

I think it's because we think they are straight answers. With your examples, "Men are like that too" and "Not all women are like that", I don't have any ambiguity with those statements. That being said, the reasons that I find them straightforward answers are much more complicated and is backed by my own experiences and beliefs.

Take the phrase, "Not all women are like that". Now, this is just my opinion and my opinion only. I'm not speaking for all BP. I come from a heavy math background where "all" truly means all. Counterexample is a basic method for proofs and I take it to heart. I don't care if there are a million examples that seem to support a statement, all it takes is one counterexample, to show something is false. I have plenty of counterexamples from my own life. Saying "all women are like that" when there are actually qualifiers for that statement, is a lie to me. "Men are like that too" for whatever characteristic is not a lie even if it's only one man like that in a million.

I care about precision/imprecision in language. I think the differences in understanding can come from different definitions for a term. Once, I had a long discussion with someone on the role of insurance and birth control and it wasn't until the end that I realized we weren't really talking about the same topic. I was discussing the merits of only birth control pills and the other person was discussing any and all types of birth control methods but we both assumed we had a mutual understanding of the word 'birth control'.

He's asking if men are "more" forgiving. He's not asking if most men and women marry within same socioeconomic class. He's asking if men are more likely to date down than women. Even by a few %.

What is dating % down from an socioeconomic level? I don't even know what that means. Socioeconomic level is a rather broad class classification. Are we talking about education? Income? Occupation (and how do you rank all occupations)? Social network? Do the parent's socioeconomic condition matter in this scenario? Depending on how many and what factors come into play, it's easy to manufacture scenarios where it is always the case that the guy is dating down, or equal, or up.

I believe people in general date within their own socioeconomic class (based on all factors previously mentioned) and that in the relationship the man usually makes more money (yes, you can be in the same socioeconomic class while making different amounts of money). Also, even though the guys are more likely to make more money, it's not the deciding factor for a relationship. Advice: if a girl is asking how much money you make from the get-go, run. I don't care how hot she is, seriously, just run. Unless, you are into that sort of thing.

Was that enough qualifier for you?

Because some segments don't understand "averages" and "in general", I consider it the "snowflake" mentality, where "you have to look at the individual".

Also, it's a very convenient way to ignore reality. A neutral reality that people can agree on is Men are taller than Women. There're lots of other realities that are more offensive, that people would rather ignore than accept.
