Okay, long story short. I was on my way to a meet-up with some other people from a university group, and I saw the girl on the subway while I was on my way there. Being in shape is important, and being well-groomed and well-dressed are arguably moreso, but....

What you’re saying is very true. I think people don’t talk about it as much because it’s so difficult to climb out of that rut of negativity once you’re in it.
I am 31 years old, an engineer, fit, handsome (at least I think so), educated; but I have no social circle, no one to hang out with where I could meet people. It’s so hard to go out by yourself and feel like you bring no value to anyone. Every day is a struggle, especially when you get particularly lonely.
I’ve found that the best medicine is to improve your mentality and work on reframing your perception of yourself. Some days are better than others, but when you redefine who you are TO YOURSELF, you become that to everyone else.
And shrooms. Shrooms are good too.

I’m in a very similar situation, minus the good job. Most women I’ve met have been through apps, which are way more difficult to navigate than meeting people organically. I know plenty of guys who’ve had as much or more success than me despite not being as attractive.

Yeah, for guys attraction has very little to do with it. I think most girls today are too insecure about their own bodies to have any time to scrutinize a guy’s looks. You as a guy don’t NEED to be pretty by society’s standards because you can’t profit from looking pretty. Our society considers you a success if you are confidant, dominant, rich, etc. Being tall is good because it makes it easier to assert yourself.
Girls on the other hand have a lot of anxiety about being pretty because our society places a lot of value on that kind of thing. Almost every girl that I’ve had on my Snapchat was obsessed with playing the role of ‘eye candy’. I’ve seen girls spend ALL DAY on snap posting stories of their ass. Like, damn, woman that is your whole life. Where do you find time to be so superficial??? I literally couldn’t do it even if I wanted to.
It’s a completely warped world view in my opinion and the modes of communication that we have in place really propagate it. It’s no wonder there are so many incels now.
To be fair, there are communities of genuinely healthy people that aren’t so ‘plugged in to the machine’ if you will. I didn’t realize that in my 20’s, but I see that more and more, and it’s a good thing.

I agree and I should say I don’t condone this type of mentality at all.
While that was how I was feeling at that particular moment, I find it incredibly exhausting to think like this for an extended period of time. It’s emotionally draining and just plain unhealthy.
I find that the more you treat people as individuals without any preconceptions, the better relationship you’ll have. Good vibes and all.
That said, groupthink mentality in western society is absolutely disgusting. I think it has to do with our obsession with individualism that borders on a fetish. We have a very poor collective consciousness and as a result behave like animals in groups. Most people desperately need someone to who it’s socially acceptable to be cruel.

As a fellow body builder I disagree. My confidence in my body has gone through the rough since getting jacked. What was weird is it was like a switch, one day I just woke up looked in the mirror was like "holy fuck, I'm ripped now!" And ever since I've had a lot more confidence in myself and the way I look.

I think there's a bit of two sides to it. The inner strength gives you the ability to be optimistic and see the good outcomes of your life, which can give you a more approachable and fun personality, but it's clear that appearance has an effect on people. I've been all over the map weight-wise, and it was just very tough to be confident when I was 30-40 pounds overweight, because I'd look in the mirror and think "damn, I really don't look very good".
It's like a woman being obese, yes she can still have a wonderful personality, or even a seductive personality that can attract men in a sense, but she'll have to face the fact that most men are going to be turned off by her appearance.
I don't think a man has to be a bodybuilder to be confident in his appearance, but if he is out of shape to the point where he doesn't look like an average guy, then it's going to be tougher to get that inner drive to really believe that women will find him attractive. Not that it's impossible, but it's simply better to work on the outer stuff as well as the inner stuff.
Yeah there’s definitely that aspect of confidence, I just don’t take well to the people who claim that lifting steel is the answer to all their self esteem woes forever and ever because I’ve seen first hand how that isn’t the case

It might not work for changing facial structure. But coming from someone who has stress induced TMJ that actually pushed my midline out of alignment and literally skewed my lower jaw (google Tom Cruise's smile), I have found mewing to be the only exercise to give me relief when that muscular pain tends to flare up from clenching my jaw.
Can also mention that certain postural exercises meant to strengthen the sternocleidomastoids and sub occipital muscles within the neck (AKA the same ones that can give you forward neck posture), actually recommend resting your tongue on the roof off your mouth to maintain proper form. As these muscles eventually pull your neck back into alignment, mewing is supposed to be easier to do while being able to breathe.
So while, mewing may not alter facial structure in any significant way it has definitely helped me realign my posture and prevent further issues from chronic TMJ and has significantly reduced my tinnitus (ear ringing). It is proper tongue posture, and keeps the surrounding musculature strong, nothing more, nothing less.
And this even came from consulting with multiple specialists within the NYC area about how to fix this pain who told me there was nothing I could do because it would only make my condition worse. So I took matters into my own hands and mewing was the only thing that helped.

What people understand of as "mewing" describes correct oral posture, except that perfect oral posture is determined by way too many things and is a science of itself, simplifying it like that is obviously gonna make misconceptions arise. What im guessing is: you heard from someone that mewing does x things for you, you tried it out but didn't see any benefit. If you're at a certain age (~past 25) results will come a lot harder and will depend on a lot more factors due to the way natural cycles of development function. Also 99% of people that didn't grow up with great oral posture that now try to replicate it through "mewing" will not achieve more than a slight betterment in most cases.

So, first I think you need better friends ones that respect women/girls because it looks like they got mad issues.
You stated you are going through things that you need to figure out. As a women who has two brothers I will say to you what I said to them growing up you need to heal YOU before you can start/be in a relationship.
I'll give you some tips, just remember girls are people too! And they are not alien creatures that you can't approach. Figure out what they like and see if there is a common ground, you can just go up to them and say hi and ask if it's alright to hang out with them. Remember you need to be confident in yourself (not a cocky kind of way)
As a designer, look after the way you dress (dress for your body type) and make sure you wash and take care of your hygiene and overall health. And remember girls are in tune with their emotions better. for them it's more about the emotional connection than about physical so just make sure you take care of yourself.

If you are comfortable with it, I'd recommend trying out social circle game with alcohol. Don't go overboard with it, a few beers and some vodka should do the trick. It'll loosen you up and make you more sociable, but if you get too loaded then obviosuly that will hurt your results.

I don't mind referring to someone based upon their looks, and race/ethnicity is an important part of a person's appearance. Whether a person is tall or short, might also be totally irrelelevant for a story, but people throw it in there.
