Completely agree with this! I had a phase in my life where all I did was read and think about game, and try to meet girls, and I did a lot worse.

Then I decided to spend 95% of my time working on other things (my career, hobbies, exercising, etc) and only 5% of my time on game and meeting girls. And my results with girls went up. I gave off a different energy that was less needy, and girls could also sense I had priorities that were more important than them. I've even had girls approach me, something that never happened back in my 100% game days.

Girls are attracted to guys who don't need them, and have more important things than girls. Which is what a lot of marketers who sell PUA products don't mention, as that would mean less customers and sales for them.

Counterpoint: I know of several doctors/dentists with good bodies who suck with girls. I've been to law school, worked good jobs, worked in restaurants, best period in my life was working in the restaurants.

'just chase money' is kinda naive. If you chase after it by say going to law or med school, or pick a mega grindy career with 12 hour days just because you think that's what's expected of you or it'll impress girls you're gonna have a bad time and miss out on a lot of life in the process.

Trust me, most girls will pick a fit bartender with a fun lifestyle over an aspie lawyer who spends most his time working and stuck in his head any day.

Not saying you have to slum it, just tired of the 'chase money that's number one' narrative that gets thrown around here because it's just not true. Do what you enjoy that gives you a lifestyle you like. Social skills, fitness and style will get you as far as anything else.

Just turned 28 and I second this, it’s gets way easier in the later twenties once things start to get really established. Money,health, on top of nice things and place to live then the rest will fall in place.

This is real. Focus on future you and build a life you’re proud of. 24M now — but when I was 18/19 I couldn’t even look an attractive girl in the eyes. I remember sitting in college classes and my heart would just randomly be pumping from fear/social anxiety.

Now at 24, I’ve dated/hooked up with girls I never would’ve had the confidence to speak to in the past (granted mostly through OLD) but nonetheless work on yourself and you’ll always win.

Forget all the courses, coaching, gurus etc. Download one simple book on pick-up and stick to it, then PRACTICE. Yo do not need to know all the tricks, and learn all the possible skills, just the bare-bones fundamentals to start.

I've got ADHD (dysfunctional prefrontal cortex) so I'm shit outta luck I guess...nah I've learned to play my cards and embrace my random shit. Some people hate it others think it's refreshing.

Also it's still possible to be rich, attractive etc but anxious with women. But I know what you mean...that way you wouldn't have to try to build yourself up or position yourself...you just have to express yourself and your life should be enough of a lure for many women.

I think the important distinction to make is that whilst you should focus on yourself - you should still be open to meeting people and you will probably still need to go out of your way to make that happen.

I've got a friend earning 200k a year in a computer science related job, he has cool hobbies and is pretty muscular these days..but nothing about his life involves women. In his case, he has to force himself to get out into the dating pool... whether via apps or social events... or hope that he meets the one cute girl doing computer science.

But working on yourself and putting yourself out there aren't mutually exclusive of course...the former is a lifelong process anyway.

This is the best advice anyone can give. I’m a lot older than you even, and I am able to get with absolutely high quality women now. I’m dating women that are doctors, attorneys, physician assistants... you name it. All hot as fuck. I would never be able to even successfully approach these women if I weren’t already educated, successful, independent, and fun to be around. I’ve definitely fumbled in the past. You gotta learn from those mistakes and keep progressing.

I'm 29, make 100k a year, 6'0, powerlifter, have a strong friend group.

None of this means shit. I get above-average right now.

My problem? Self-confidence. And after all that work, am I fun? Not really, I'm always working on myself. I'm always working out, working, connecting, improving, etc.

Confidence is everything, personality is everything, women don't care about any of that shit I listed first.

Women think differently than men. You're thinking logically if I do X then I get X. Not the case. I've seen guys, skinny, shit job, but his personality makes girls laugh or he's fun, super confident, daring. That's literally the biggest thing for women. I've seen girls with a whole list of what they want in a guy, drop the entire list because they met someone the complete opposite but he was able to make her emotionally intrigued enough through his personality. Work on being more fun, more confident.

Great post with practical information, sir. As an old head in my 30’s, I’ve found the same to be true.

Being established in your career, being in shape and well-groomed, and having some life experience automatically puts you at an advantage, even with women who are in their early-mid 20’s.

You also have to have the mindset that you’re a prize as well. Lots of successful, powerful guys crumble around a woman, have to bring that same masculine energy that propelled you in other aspects of your life.

I kind of agree. These PUA gurus are selling you a product so they can profit. A lot of their material is useful, but when it is based in telling you that you aren’t good enough, well that’s an issue.

I had a lot of issues dating when I was in my early 20’s. I think I was too concerned with finding “the one” and that came across as needy.

I’m 29 now, I don’t want a relationship, and dating seems like the easiest thing in the world now that I am truly indifferent about the result.

Second this. I wish I could go back to the days I was 18 and only reading about cold approach on this sub and consume more content about fitness, career, hobbies, etc... I'd be set up to be a slayer at my current age. Instead, I'm 24, and while I'm successful enough to provide for myself, I'm obese, working a dead job (even though I make enough to cover my expenses and put money away), and just generally not satisfied with my life. I will be working on improving myself, but I wish I would've earlier.

My advice to the younger generation is: get fit, learn about fashion, network, prioritize your career, & find 2-3 hobbies you are truly passionate and become a fucking boss at them (ideally have at least one of those be a hobby you can do socially, and one be a more personal hobby).

No reason you can’t work on all these things at once.

And effective dating coaches/ puas (hate that term) will help you with your confidence too.

Besides, good game will teach you to be better with many other aspects of your life - networking, social situations, negotiation.

Should you be desperate and self deprecating?

Of course not. In fact that’s the opposite of good game and the reason why guys try to get better in the first place.

I agree with you, shame is toxic and needs to be kept in check, but part of me feels like you’re answering a question that doesn’t need to be asked.

If you cannot be jacked, cannot make even 1/3rd of that, and don't have a social circle... because you're on the spectrum... then kinda everything you say falls apart, because these limitations are quite rigid in my case.

If there's any chance you have a better answer though, other than a callous suggestion, I'd like to hear it.
