Reminds me of a friend who had swiped some straws from a bar. Somehow we got separated and I saw him outside offering a puzzled girl a straw. I walked up to him and put on a show of being excited that he had straws and asked if I could have some and was really grateful for a couple. The girl was now confused as hell, but she knew she wanted some straws.

Actually this is a great technique if you don’t have the self confidence or knowledge of how to handle a solo approach. OP has thrown in a little extra that sounds like he is going more to city/club type venues. I tend to do more live music/bar scenes so I will especially worn (like on NYE) the knowing guys in the band route. In that situation I was already dancing with a woman right by the stage and I gave the guitarist (who I’ve known for twenty years) a fist bomb and got a “hey wilgo glad you made it out!” And got her pics with the band at the set break. I got a great NYE night out of it and possible future FWB.

Wow this is really funny. Props for a creative idea! Owen from RSD once gave an opinion on social proof, and he said that he thought people were pretty much in their own world at the club, and didn't notice others that much.

I think having social proof is great and you stand out, but not having it is not a negative. It's hard to feel this way though, because it's a big mental barrier. 🧠

When I get in my head about this I'll start jumping around on the dance floor vigorously to amp up, and I will start complimenting dudes on their outfits, or commenting on the music. This is GREAT for getting into momentum. 🧨

I started to look around the club for guys that were talking to girls that seemed uninterested. I would then go and act like a fan of the guy saying stuff like “you’re that rapper right?” Or “you’re the guy from tiktok right” then ask the girl to take a picture of us together. I done this about 5 times.

this happened to me and i can vouch for this technique.

once i was on a first date walking down the street. this random dude walks up to me and hypes me up saying he loves my instagram and stuff. i went with it, thanked him and that was it.

after few minutes i told my date i didn’t really know him and he was just trying to make me look good in front of her. she found that funny, amusing and adorable. it made a memorable night
