I used to be very active on this sub. I decided to stop reading because it was giving me “anxiety.”

Turns out my “anxiety” was me being in denial about the guy I had started to date. I really wanted to believe I had made a good choice.

I didn’t.

Most people tell me I overthink social interactions and I'm supposed to have anxiety, but tbf most of the relationships I have where I'm really worried, they do turn out to be a shit. I'm beginning to think rather than anxiety I just see a nasty situation coming from a lot further off than other people.

Yup. I am an anxious person - I do tend to imagine worst case scenarios. I know I do this, and I try to take myself with a grain of salt.

But I've rarely been wrong with my gut feelings about people.
If an interaction or a relationship feels wrong or off, but you can't quite put your finger on what it is... (or maybe you know what it is but try to convince yourself it's NBD...) There's absolutely something wrong with it.

Omg - so in 2017, i remember having a crush on this one guy. But my gut feeling was yelling at me saying “this will not end well” and “its going to get worse” but i thought that was my mental health acting up and not “taking on a new experience” or whatever. We were friends and he was aware on my feelings but he wasnt interested.

Turns out, guy was an asshole in 2018, tried to push his views on sex and intimacy when i made it clear that I wasnt into casual sex or whatever. Then made a 5 paragraph essay on “why im a toxic person” in a group chat we’re in when he found out that I asked for my friends for advice in regards to if that convo was a red flag (note - EVERYONE said that it was. Co-workers, friends, and classmates in uni. All told me “RED FLAG!!! Leave now!!!). This cause a divide in our friendship group. I left that toxic environment and never looked back. A few months, some of my friends wanted context cuz they never properly heard my side so when i did, they agreed that me and the guy should stay away and what happened between us was unacceptable.

Later on, i knew to trust that gut even more. Saved me time and emotional energy in future dates.

Can we just take a moment to give it up for Tiffany NY Pollard? The best reality show actress of our time. Say what you want but the "I Love" shows of the 2000s were peak trash TV. She's unapologetically direct, sassy and takes zero shit. Binge watching her shows is more entertaining than ever since FDS came about.

This may actually start from the outside...someone tells you that you're 'overthinking' something (may range from benign intentions to toxic)...then you internalize this and tell yourself that you're 'overthinking' something. See also: 'gaslighting'

Oh yeah, all the weird feelings I had and suspicions and my husband gaslit me and told me I was crazy.

I was right, about everything! He even admitted some of it and then in the next sentence told me I was crazy and controlling to suspect it! And I said no, you just admitted it. I was not crazy, I was right. You don't get to have it both ways. And he just glared at me with his snake eyes and went silent.

Women's intuition is very powerful, we need to learn to trust ourselves. To be fair, I'll remind myself to chill when it's that time of the month and reassess after. I won't ignore my feelings though.

I am quite confident that I have never misjudged people in my life. Most of the time the accuracy of my instinct scares me.

lol this was me before I checked my exes phone for the first time. He had been cheating on me for the whole relationship, the kicker being WE JUST GOT ENGAGED and he moved me halfway across the country literally 3 days before. I never wanted to get married but I thought he was so different and special. Lol NOPE. Never again.
