Some western countries have low birth rates. In response they bring in immigrants to fill the workforce (and/or provide cheap labor).

The argument is that because birth rates are low lots of immigrants are needed to support the economy. The Canadian government of Justin Trudeau, for instance, has significantly increased immigration levels since 2015. Once again, the argument is that because birth rates are so low and falling, immigrants are needed to sustain the workforce.

But wouldn't making it easier for men to find young wives abroad be another alternative that would increase birth rates? In Canada right now, for instance, it has been reported that the recent wave of immigrants are mostly male and that they're contributing to a rising proportion of men compared to women in the population.

Men can't have babies. So if you make the population predominantly male, you reduce the birth rate further. All these male immigrants aren't going to be having kids themselves, so that means more immigrants will be needed later on when they get old.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a bunch of young foreign women coming to marry local men and having kids?
