the RED PILL CONCEPT of hypergamy (not any other definition or concept of it, none of which matter for the purposes of purple pill debate) is:

women are serial monogamists who are attracted to a potentially ever-changing TOP MAN in some way (higher status than her, higher status than other men, fame, wealth status, etc) and will by nature feel an urge to move along to a "Better" (better does not mean younger an better LOOKING like it does fo rmen, but better in status in some way) when she gets the opportunity or starts to believe her current man is low status for whatever reason

this is the redpill concept as it entered into the red pill lexicon from devlins sexual utopia in power. any other redefinition is NOT redpill and is irrelevant. dating men who are "better looking than them" is not hypergamy

Is your point merely that women tend to date or marry up even today? Sure. Statistically that’s still true.

So what? What it is you want to discuss about this? And what definition of hypergamy are you even using?

Your definition works pretty well for trp, but I would broaden it a bit to say up in general. Looks, status, or money. So yes, alpha and beta traits.

Hypergamy as discussed by TRP is "sexual hypergamy," meaning that women are only attracted to qualities in men that impress them that they likely don't perceive or have trouble perceiving in themselves. They are not as sexually attracted to men who they perceive as "equals," and they are not sexually attracted at all to men who they perceive as "inferiors."

Men can be attracted to women who they perceive as complete inferiors to themselves, even though the ideal man would like to optimize his mate choice if he has to limit himself to one mate (leading to confusion among some who will often say "men are hypergamous too!"). This is why men are not sexually hypergamous, but sexually polygynous.

Hypergamy refers to the tendency of anyone to pair up with someone of higher social status. However in the red pill it doesn't follow that definition exactly and extends to any ambit in which women tend to prefer to pair up with men higher in that ambit. The most important ambit is physical attractiveness, in which women desire only the 20% top of men but it also extends to other ambits such as income, education, status of any kind... To sum up in the red pill hypergamy would be the tendency of women to prefere men that outperform them with the focus on physical attractiveness.

But almost no one uses hypergamy in that context anymore. When pill-o-spherians say "hypergamy" they just mean women are the choosy gender, which technically falls under definition of sexual selection or mate choice.

On the red pill, hypergamy is the instinct of the woman to have sex/relationships with the most alpha male she can get. It is inspired on sociology, but is not the same concept.

The point of talking about hypergamy, is to debunk the "soul mate" myth.

The blue pill teach men that women fall in love for mysterious, quasi religious reasons, and that leads men to self destructive behavior, and unrealistic expectations.

Hypergamy explains to men that women pursue their biological instinct to mate with the best male they can mate. Women do not fall in love forever and or unconditionally.

Love is conditional, and men have to actively work to keep it.

Hypergamy is frequently confused with "monkey branching", which is a tactic that women use to switch from a male to a more alpha one.

Monkey branching means that a woman will first make sure that she can switch to a higher male, before breaking up with the older male. Like a monkey does not leaves one branch until he has firmly grabbed the new branch.

One consequence of monkey branching, is that at the moment a woman ends a relationship, the relationship had been broken for a long time, and the woman only stayed on the relationship to have safety, meanwhile she was securing a better male.

Men perceive the break up as a sudden happening, thinking that it had a recent cause, that it can be fixed someway, but when a woman leaves, the relationship had been broken beyond repair, long time ago.

The soul mate myth is highly pernicious, for many, many reasons. It creates covert contracts, and a belief of ownership and dependence.

When monogamy and the soul mate myth are assumed, the man tends to believe that if he loves one woman, and has to love only one woman, then the woman has to love him reciprocally, because she has to be his soul mate, otherwise he would not love the only woman he can love.

If a man could love a woman that does not returns his love, then the woman is evil, because she is depriving him of his only chance at happiness.

Belief on the soul mate is belief on being the proprietary of the woman. It is a covert contract that, when broken, causes violence and despair on the man. He can drive his violence against the woman, or himself. He can murder the woman, the entire family, or commit suicide.

Understanding hypergamy destroys both the monogamist and the soul mate myth.

Hypergamy also reduces the value that any woman can have to a man.

What I still can't understand is why some RP and PP members constantly claim that all women...literally 100% of us, no exceptions...are hypergamous when it's obviously not true.

"Hypergamy" is a TRP term of art. The definition is in the TRP sidebar. It doesn't mean anything like what is in OP:

Hypergamy – The instinctual urge for women to seek out the best alpha available. This is marked by maximizing rejection (therefore women are the selective gender). A woman will vet her alpha through various shit tests to ensure his "health" on the alpha scale. She is conditioned to recognize a declining alpha, as hypergamy also tends to continue seeking out higher status males even while with an alpha male. Shit tests allow her to prepare herself for eventually leaving when a new higher status male is found. If the male fails shit tests to a great enough degree, it will effect her feelings for him. He will effectively lower his sexual market value in her eyes. This will enable her to jump to the next male with ease and little remorse.

I don't understand where this thesis comes from; it makes no mathematical sense.

I don't know where this supposed "universal" tendency comes from: most individuals mate within their own social class.
