That's why under the Patriarchy only/mostly men have served: because military service is fucking awesome! They even have drafts every now and then so that the dudes who haven't figured it out get a chance to join in the fun.

I think, in the name of equality, we should create a woman only military. Few seem willing to sign up, probably due to mental conditioning by the patriarchy, so a draft would be in order.

We could in relatively short order get to the point where only women are serving and dying in foreign lands. Then men would finally have to bear the brunt of the wars by losing their wives, mothers, and daughters.

Women would come back mangled, mentally ill, or dead and men would have to suffer horribly by seeing all that.

That would really stick it to those blokes!

If I was a woman I would take offense to this as well, it cements the whole idea of men going off to fight for their country while the women stay home. Women can be soldiers too.

Statistically speaking, a militia is usually composed with a majority of men (who are married to/are in a relationship with women). If we consider the number of men/women killed as a sample of the entire militia, then, yes, more men will have been killed meaning that the number of displaced relationships and marriages with women is higher than the number of displaced relationships and marriages with men. In the context of her quote, I believe this is what she was implying. "Primary victims" meaning the group with the most displaced relationships which in the case of war, women succeed in having the most displaced relationships.

However, because this quote lacks context, it implies that only women are victims of war and, yes, that implication sounds horrible.
