I'm 18 and a senior in high school, prom's coming up and I've been having some discussions with some female and male friends lately. I've formulated the opinion that it's unfair for me to pay for everything when I'm in a relationship with a women. I feel like this is where inequality starts on both sides; men are expected to be the bread winners and women are supposed to sit on the sidelines. And yet this is the norm among western society these days. I mean most women are all for equality between the genders but when I asked my female friends why a man has to pay for dates and buy prom tickets they called it chivalry. When I feel almost guilty paying for things unequally with a women. It seems like me paying for my date's prom is like me saying that "I bring home the money", I mean they are $70 tickets, plus a $30 dinner. So would it be irrational if I asked my prom date to buy her ticket on these principles or is this something that seems fair? I just needed to get this off my chest thanks for reading/commenting.
