The thread itself is self-selecting, since women who do empathize with all male issues won't participate.

The government isn't in charge of women or their bodies. Some governments restrict abortions (but most western countries do not). However, this has nothing to do with men - surveys clearly show no or little statistical difference between the number of men and women who are pro-life/pro-choice.

Or maybe when they decide if you have the right to vote.

This has never happened to you in the West, so shut the fuck up.

Or the right to work.

Or the right to equal pay.

The government literally mandates equal pay. Studies show maybe a 5% gap when you account for common factors, but that doesn't mean it's discrimination, since we can't account for everything (attitudes to money, work-life balance, ambition, ability to negotiate)

Get over yourselves.

My favourite historical fallacy has to be the one from the second comment you quoted. The mainstream idea that men have been hoarding power around themselves and withholding it from women for millennia, she even includes the right to vote.

In the UK normal men (over 21) had the right to vote for a grand total of 10 years before universal suffrage granted the same right to women and women over 30 were allowed to vote that whole decade. 10 bloody years and the way most people act to these kinds of answers you would think it was 500. Unbelievable.

Not to mention that like most things in history, it's a class issue, you have old rich men who decide to go to war when they don't have to die personally. (This is basic shit, Sabbath sang about it before I was even born). But I guess it's okay if one group does something bad to other members of the same group. By that logic, should I not care about women who abuse girls, because that's intra-gender, and only care if it is women abusing male children? Almost all of those responses just shows these women (and the large amount who commented and upvoted their answers) are incapable of empathy.

Like, you don’t think men failing in dating life is a problem? Ok, well plenty of men don’t think getting tons of compliments and interest only in sex as a big problem either. How is it so hard to have empathy and acknowledge both might suck even if we can’t fully understand how the other side feels?

That’s just one example from a top response but most others are in the same vein of just cold incapability of empathy. But some of the other answers you highlighted are just depressing and almost psychopathic. It’s a male abuse victims fault he gets turned away from a shelter? It’s an 18 year old kids fault he gets drafted and killed in a war? It’s rough because these aren’t even the fringe groups that are saying this. It’s mainstream.

News flash, lady: I wasn't around when the societal gender norms for men and women were established. I have no power over that. Some 18 year old kid sent to Vietnam didn't design the draft.

It seems to me like they just want to demonize men, like we're some evil cult and we all meet to decide how to oppress women. Listen, lady, I'm 18 years old, I never did anything to create these societal standards.

Somehow, they're able to believe that women are hurt by societal standards, but not men. Do they not realize that society has requirements for men as well as women? The extreme lack of empathy is just astounding to me.

They also have the same delusional beliefs about the past and present as Nazis had - they don't know that in India, in the 70s, about 8 million men were forcefully operated on to be sterilized by a female prime minister, or that men were castrated throughout history to serve female aristocrats, or that men didn't have voting rights either and that men and women got the vote together in the 18 century, the limitation being that only those with a certain wealth can vote, and there was no restriction on women - some voted - the society was indeed such that most of those with sufficient wealth were men, but the restriction wasn't chosen to exclude women but to prevent the group that got the vote from having more power than the men and women of the nobility. Radical feminists live in an alternative reality with a fabricated past. They have no idea about the actual history of humankind, of the oppression of both sexes by the men and women of the aristocracy, throughout most of history. Or about the female rulers and there were many, who oppressed just as male rulers have and often more severely. They were not informed about the fact that for millennia, men and women were together, struggling side by side against oppression committed by both sexes of the upper class. So within their delusional perception, they cannot regard men as human. They have stripped men from all of actual human history. The goal is not to change them. Can you change a Nazi? Are you aware the decades after ww2, Nazis still expressed the same beliefs? This is a deep type of brainwash that people take with them to the afterworld. Not a lack of empathy exactly, but when someone says “men get raped too”. Yes and that’s awful and it shouldn’t ever happen. But it’s usually MEN doing it so that doesn’t really validate your crappy comeback Mr. “It’s not just a women’s issue”.

I only care about male victims of abuse. Other than that, I really don't care about male-specific issues since men (as a whole) are the reason those issues exist in the first place.

Does she know that she can...break up with the misogynist and find someone who isn't sexist? This is an example of someone having an opportunity to exercise her agency and distance herself from a problem, but instead deciding to keep the problem in her life.

Would she rather stay with the guy and drop comment after comment complaining about what an asshole he is? To me, that's just as pointless as a dude saying, "ugh, my girlfriend hates men and I can't stand her, what do I doooooo?" You break up, dude. It's funny because women often have very parallel complaints. Like they whine about men complaining about the friendzone, but they get mad when men "datezone" them, a.k.a burn bridges because she wasn't interested. If we ain't entitled to your body/love, you ain't entitled to my friendship either. I can't be friend with every woman I ever try to seduce, I don't have infinite time.

Also the dating app one. I'd rather have the opportunity to sift through a sea of shit to find a few gem than not have anything to even sift through. One gives you a chance at something even if it's low, the other gives you no chances at all.

Na she's actually spot on here. It's the reason we are as gynocentric as we are. Any man can take on the reproductive work of dozens if not a hundred. No woman can take on the reproductive work of even one other woman.

Women are a sharp reproductive bottleneck. the most successful groups (our ancestors) maximized their survival by prioritizing the provisioning and protection of women (inevitably) at the expense of men.

A lack of genetic diversity will be a problem before there aren't enough men to compensate for the skewed ratio.

The 50:50 ratio is in part due to the fact that raising a human to self sufficiency (and productivity) requires a lot of resources.

In our pre history only half as many men reproduced as women so while 20:80 may not me sustainable (citation needed) a 1/3:2/3 split is evidently very much sustainable so there have to be other reasons for this 50:50 split

Honestly the top 2 posts are very reasonable. Getting upset that your partner doesn't want kids (and striving to force her by banning abortion) is pretty lame. Getting upset you get friendzoned is disingenious childish behaviour. Women failing to empathize with men for getting few matches is to be expected, as most women have just never experienced this. The ones that have are usually empathetic in my experience.

But so many of the more controversial things said below are very detached from reality. Society does not care about building up men in general. Family court is extremely biased against men in most countries. The idea that men have never at any point lacked rights (lmao how does this woman think people lived before the 20st century?).

Incest isn't the big one. Even in the past, a similar ratio of reproduction hasn't caused too many problems.

Rather, the problem with the 20:80 ratio is that it is completely blind to the history of labor. The idea stems from the modern ideology that a woman can do exactly the same things a man can. That's cute, but we have absolutely no proof replacing 30% of the men by women won't massively upset society. It's an idea which uses faux-egalitarian and PC thinking as a spearhead, without considering all the externalities of a surplus in women which may influence the outcome.

Historically, the brunt of research, development and production has been young men. The reason for that is deeply ingrained into man's traditional role as provider. Yet, like a market lacking competition becoming oligarchic, we could make a similar claim that the remaining men have less incentive to improve. Why would they, when it is likely there's a woman around the corner who hasn't seen a man in months and wants some partnership? Or do these people really expect women to become lesbian en masse?

The premise of women being able to replace men in the labor force implicitly relies on today's context. Remove that context in any way, and making such a claim is shaky at best.
