Men who are short are often insecure about it and a certain segment of the female population that openly mocks men for not being tall doesn’t help. At some point humanity decided being cruel to others is funny and we just ran with that.

Every time one of these “I don’t see why height is that big of a deal” threads gets posted it’s always coming from a woman or a guy who isn’t short. If you had to actually live as a 5’6” guy for a year you’d probably understand by the end of the first week.

As others have said womens preferences are often driven by a man’s relative status to other men

If you’ve ever been a relatively average man in a group of well below average men (say elderly, very overweight, etc) you’ll observe that the way women treat you in that scenario is night and day.

If you were in a group of high status chads, you’d be invisible. This is hypergamy in a nutshell. She wants “the best available” not “good enough”

If the “average” height is 5’6 she’ll say “ewww that’s short!” Even when she herself is 5’2. Because there are a couple of 6 foot guys that already hit on her that night.

Same with income, same with physical appearance. Women want men that have status in the tribe. They grade on a curve.

Throw in social media and that curve becomes nation-wide, if not world-wide and you start to see their standards really go nuts.

Finally, Legit question: Why tf are you using the present progressive tense for every verb you use?

Height is one of the only dating issues we can give numerical values to. It's easy to compare our height to each other compared to looks or personality. Could be that people focus on it for this reason.

Nearly everywhere you use the word "being" you can omit it because it does not make sense or add anything to the structure of the sentence. In fact, omitting "being" will make your sentence structures mostly correct.

It's important because women make it important. A woman who is 5'0" may not be attracted to the 5'5" guy so then what? Its not a solution to make women date someone they are not attracted to.

Because it is. I'm reasonably short for a guy 5'9", and I have only dated/had a relationship with one woman who was taller. I've had many, many gf over the years. I would venture to guess that if there was a survey conducted, the bulk of women would say they like someone at least their same height or taller for a bf/so. There are obviously exceptions, but I doubt if it's even 75%-25%. I dated a Cajun girl who was 5'11" and had legs forever!

That sounds fine on paper but I hardly know any women that even considers a guy at 5'5 even if she herself is 5 inches shorter. Women, especially younger ones, can't brag to their friends when the guy is below average height. Also, even if the guy is accepted he still needs to be excellent in almost every regard like money, clout, excellent personality, and an excellent physique. Being average unfortunately isn't enough to thrive in today's dating market.

As a woman, height is an indicator of genetic health. We are attracted to tall, large men who can take charge when needed. Height is critically important for us. All we ask is short men please find a hobby while you age peacefully away from us. Don't hit on us or be "confident"

I’m 5’10 and have had more experiences with taller men being put off/ not used to my height than shorter men. I always wear heels when I go out. With age I’ve learned not to compromise my comfort or happiness to appease societal standards. Within the last couple of years in particular, I’ve really become even more open minded than usual with dating short men. I always say you can be 5’8 and be an asshole, and you be 6’3 and still be an asshole. Someone’s values shouldn’t be determined by height. Men and women alike need to get a grip and be open minded

Well, I would say it has to do more with preference and a lot of social pressure to look good while in a relationship. I mean if she wants a specific height, and you don’t fit let it go. Some people don’t just want someone taller than her. It might not make sense to some people but it make sense to them.

Can someone please explain to me why everyone is hellbent on diminishing the struggles of short men? Why do they have to fight every time to be taken seriously? Because they have a legit disadvantage in dating they can't fix and society/women would rather eat glass than have empathy for men?
