It's the 'Women are Wonderful Effect" in action. It's well established through many studies. If you put a female name on your school exams and job applications, you will get better grades and more job interviews. It's not even up for debate at this point.

The crazy thing is (due to cognative dissonance) that Feminists by and large have convinced themselves that the opposite is true, despite all of the hard evidence.

My lab partner was Japanese (and female) in cell biology, circa 2009 or so. She was brilliantly smart but understandably, grammar and writing was really hard for her because Japanese and English are super different ofc.

Fast forward to our midterm lab report, I helped her with hers in the library. We did the same experiments together, had the same data, all of the info in our reports was the same. Tbh, I nearly rewrote her paper for her, so I know how similars ours were. She was given a 98% and I was given a 63. I inquired with the TA who did our labs and was given the “we don’t discuss grades” line. Took it up with the dean, and at that point she threatened me with academic dishonesty because I looked at my lab partners grade.

Same thing happened in our final lab report. We got 2 lab grades all semester and labs were 50% of our grade. I made 85+ on all four exams and should have had an A in the class but barely scraped by with a C because of the abysmal lab grade that I feel like I was just arbitrarily given. I can distinctly remember 3-4 of the other males in the class that I knew complaining about similar stuff.

Former Teacher here. The VP of the Student Government, an organization I supervised, was female. She plagiarized her final paper in my class.

I did what I always did when a student plagiarized— gave her a Zero and wrote a note on the paper that it was plagiarized.

The principal didn’t believe me. The kid’s paper was literally copied from a Wikipedia article.

I experienced it myself 30 y ago. Most teachers are old women who think girls are going to struggle to find a job because they think to be inferior to men or they are just psychotic feminists who believe in an oppressive patriarchy. Girls are given much higher grades so they can have higher chances to get a job, not because they are any good. It's still happening today, girls are being given high scores for free. Disgusting

This article mentions at some point that those are new findings or something like that. This is not true. A very large study conducted in all OECD countries by the OECD showed the same result about 10 years ago. Boys have been discriminated against by female teachers for decades.

I'm a man and a teacher. I'll say that girls tend to do as they are told better than boys (to generalise) and I think that leads to some teachers marking favourably towards the ones they do like.

I've found that boys like to question authority more - which is a good thing as a society - but obviously frustrating when you're trying to crack on with the lesson.

I always wondered if girls on average were simply better at subjective courses or teachers playing (maybe subconsciously) favourites. You see generally for objective courses more engineering geared, such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, etc, I generally had some of the highest grades with some guys in my class, girls could generally not even get close especially with a class average. I also wondered if it was a mostly interest thing and effort put in however I also wondered if that was really the case. Especially when I checked/saw some reports and presentations for those other classes. This might explain that from a different perspective...

Interesting read but the bit near the end is a bit annoying!

"Researchers caution that the study was carried out on Italian students and there may be different reasons for the gender gap in other countries, and that they used grades awarded part-way through the school year, which may differ from the final grades."

Why only Italian students and why use grades from part through the year if that might not represent the year end grade!

It's like they have done a load of work but left two large "loopholes" that could easily be avoided!

The crazy thing is that this creates a self-reinforcing spyral. Boys will perform worse due to the worse grades and sink even lower.

This reminds me of the whole "Women are funnier than men" thing. If this were true you wouldn't need people shoving the fact down people's throats. While it's unfortunate that they get an easy pass, the bright side is men accomplish far more in their lifetimes than women. This is the reason why there's far more male noble prize winners, leaders, grade A actors, etc than women. The only thing they got going for them is looks which can be seen with every woman turning to only fans now as an easy way out.

Yeah I've seen multiple of these studies on this subreddit only and they all point to this same bias. Pair that with the fact that most teachers now are young women who are also pretty radical blue haired feminists most of the time and it should surprise anyone
