First, I'll admit the obvious, if the roles were reversed in this commercial there would be a public outcry about "objectifying women" and it would probably be pulled.

It's obviously a advertising ploy to trick men into buying underwear. The thing is, I didn't need this commercial to tell me this for any potential mate I'd want to bed. I know not only to put on my best pair of well fitting boxer briefs but to also take care of a little gardening down there so to speak.

Well, that's a stupid ad. Yes, you shouldn't be wearing nasty, ratty underwear. Women wear them too. My girlfriend doesn't wear thongs, she thinks they are uncomfortable. I am not going to buy them for her or make her wear them that's stupid. I am certainly not going to wear a thong either. But shit, if you are trying to be attractive to tour partner and nearly nude, at least wear something to make your junk look nice. I am curious to see the solution this we site offers for "sexy" under options for men. It has been made clear to me that many women find a nice, clean and new looking pair of boxer briefs that make our bulge look good, desirable. In fact, I have never met a woman who thinks a dude would look good in something like a man-thong on her dude. I am sure they exist, but I haven't met one...

I don't understand this. Why should either than man or woman care what type of underwear the other wears? If it was a one night thing, I seriously doubt that a man or woman would stop a sexual advance because of the type of underwear one or the other is wearing as long as they don't display disgusting hygiene. I'm pretty sure sexy underwear is reserved for special occasions in the vast majority of relationships.

I've never thought I could get away with ragged, torn underwear if I wanted to show any sex appeal. I've known some women to keep some really old, dingy undies as well. They just don't wear them when they want to be sexy.

Ive never once, nor do I know any men who would judge a woman for her underwear, but I know women who do. I know women who deem it necessary to wear "cute" underwear, but how does that constitute as a double standard if they are the one holding themselves to it?

Okay, some people are having trouble understanding why this advert is not okay.

It's good to say that men have something to be desired by women, and they should be proud of it. But this advert says that men should be disappointed in themselves for not wearing alluring underwear when they've been given no hint thus far by society that they have anything to flaunt.

ie. the ad should be less 'shame on you for looking bad and not making an effort!' and more 'you have a great looking body, why not wear some clothes that suit it?'

As the only guy in amongst my friends who actually gives a damn about looking good in my underwear, I have to say that this ad has alot of truth to it! Most guys I know wear old box briefs that are discolored, old, falling apart etc. Most men would find this unacceptable on a women yet are guilty of it themselves.

Likewise, many men expect women to keep things tiddy downstairs when it comes to pubic hair but most guys I know sport a huge bush and seem to have no care in the world when it comes to basic manscaping.
