How about games like Overcooked? Culinary game thats great for duets. Youre cooking together. There is also similar stuff like Moving Out. There is Unraveled 2 which is a co-op. Theres also many Jackbox Games.

For single player more feminine games, Disney Dreamlight Valley, anything from The Sims (Sims 4 is most accessible but Sims 2 & 3 are the best), Youtubers Life, other simulations like Growing Up, check out other Otome or Visual Novel games.

There are single player builders like Parkitect, Dorf Romantik, Cities Skylines.

Hmmm. I wasn't much of a gamer early in my marriage and still isn't but I do enjoy games. I enjoy non stress games like music rhythm genre. The new Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Final Bar Line is really good if it interests you. It took me a long time to really find a genre I can say I like. My attention span is short and so are my interests. I say just do your researches online and see what sparks your interest. My husband lives for RPGs. Unfortunately it's 50/50 if they are multiplayer or solo. Some are free to play so you can go that route if you decide which console you want. Their personal stores have plenty of games you can download free demos so if you like it, you can purchase the full game later. Lego games are fun co-op especially if you like the cartoony art style and retelling of popular stories like Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, DC and Marvel comics and Star Wars. I like those as well because they are fun and not too hard to do. The possibilities are endless. Good luck looking.

Don’t Starve Together.

Our family plays a lot of coop games. We’ve played Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. Overcooked and Overcooked 2 are both fun. Unravel Two is super cute.

I will tell you that my husband games and he doesn’t really love gaming as a team.

The only game he actually enjoys playing as a group is Diablo 3, but I don’t think that’s the type of thing you’re looking for.

Subnautica is a really good game!! It's very atmospheric and relaxing. I only got 40 hours into it before they removed it from Xbox game pass but I'm still considering buying it.

If you like dreamy landscapes and meditative graphics I'd suggest the ori and the blind forest series, you'll get a feel for it when you watch the trailer. It also sounds like Zelda games might be up your alley? Or stray that just game out, it's an atmospheric cyberpunk game where you play as a cat. There is also this nice relaxing game called coffee chat that has pretty good ratings where you serve people coffee while while making them latte art sometimes and listen to their stories, it was on Xbox game pass for me but I was hooked.

It takes two is a fun coop game, you play as a couple that is about to get a divorce.

I also loved the uncharted series on Playstation but that was just an adventure game.

This is making me want to play games again lol.

My husband, stepdaughter and I have played a lot of Over cooked together and Towerfall, though on the computer.

I really enjoyed a lot of the Lego games years ago, especially those like Indiana Jones, Star Wars, LOTR, etc. Wasn't as much of a fan with the Marvel and DC comic ones.

As a solo game, I just finished playing the Hogwarts Legacy game - first game I've really played in over a decade - and I LOVE it! Beautifully done. I also love Kingdom Hearts.

My wife never played much games her whole life, and gets seriously frustrated with games that require sharp reflexes, but with this we can both sit together, and basicly watch a movie (with various endings/paths) as she mostly gets through it and enjoys going through the emotions of being in "danger and stress".

Try the new Harry Potter game or Skyrim. You’ll get lots of extra points for Skyrim, it’s an absolute classic. The games you play don’t need to be ‘feminine’, most games are what you make it. I am not too concerned about every single thing in my life being as feminine as possible lol but The Sims is literally the most girly game there is. Overcooked is another great one. But get Overcooked All You Can Eat since it has all the content and DLC from Overcooked 1 and 2 without any of the online play limitations Overcooked 1 had.

People will disagree with me, likely as a meme because you might get addicted and it ruin your life. But, honestly, playing League of Legends with friends is always enjoyable. Just stick to normal games and play with friends at all times to maintain a healthy approach. They also have a really decent bot system to get to grips with the game before you jump in properly. If you want to strictly play in accordance with your significant other, you can play 'botlane' in League, which is a 2v2 lane (I'm simplifying this for any league players reading), and might be really fun for you.

Edit : The bot system is fun if you don't want to deal with people, the game is really coordination dependant, lots to learn and I guarantee you that you'll have a good time if you stay away from ranked and playing alone. Just remember to mute any other people you run into, I know.. it sounds harsh, just trust me on that one. I've played 12 years and never met a reasonable human. Finally, the system is quite good at recognising how new you are after a few hours of brutal defeats once you first start, meaning you'll quickly be algorithmed into people alike yourself (most of the time).
The game gets a lot of shit, but it's the most popular game in the world because it is genuinely good, as much as everyone hates to admit it.

Full text: I would like to get acquainted with gaming so that I know some stuff, and I eventually wanted to do it for myself anyways and just had in mind that it's a far-future priority, because hello, bigger fish to fry! Now that I'm with a gamer it makes a little more sense to prioritize more, and some of the video games I've seen him play look really cute to me, like Pokemon, Subnautica, & dragon quest builders.

I know stardew valley and animal crossing are touted a lot, but I am just NOT a fan of the whole farm arc thing, I can't even believe it's still going on since farmville. I know I'll get around to those, but on my own time.

Some of my taste: There is that Nordic mythology game I've seen at Gamestop countless times and haven't purchased yet, only because for whatever reason, funds seem to be short whenever we go to gamestop LOL, so I'm always like ugh do I need a video game with my last $20... but yes, the Nordic & Norse mythology games look so fun! He/we now have a Ps4, Ps5, switch, and you have a 3DS. There was this fashion/style game I looooved playing on my DS around the time they came out as a big thing, but a fashion game would have to be really good to woo me. I really love anything with beautiful graphics, if I can meditate to it or with it on, it's a winner. I by default tend to cling to "real nerd" or geeky games... meaning, I don't find any interest in masculine games (except MAYBE elder scrolls and kingdom hearts if that counts as masculine? I haven't played, just somewhat interested), but I looove classic games such as checkers. I'm definitely going to re-purchase the 50 Classic Games and 100 Classic Games DS game I had well over a decade ago that is now away with another family member. I saw this doctor game in game stop I had interest in which I'm still laughing about because I've never been interested in being a doctor or a nurse LOL, but it looked like it might be hit or miss. I used to play Rilakkuma solitaire when I was 12 years old on my iphone before the developer stopped creating it. I loooved Doodle God and amazing breaker, too. I also liked where's my water. I do intend to buy sanrio games, but I played a bit of one before that I found to be absolute garbage, it may have been the seasons one or the big city dreams (or both?) I have a similiar thing with Kirby. I played a kirby game once a long time ago that I can't remember which kirby it is, but it sure as heck wasn't epic yarn, I did noot like epic yarn lolol. I do play sonic on my phone from time to time, and I've started to play Crash bandicoot again since being with the bf. All in all though I haven't done any more than crash every once in a blue moon since we've been together, because I feel guilt over using his stuff. Any advice for that is also welcome. He's been telling me for many months now I'm free to use them, I just feel bad using the one thing he has to himself

I'd suggest The Longest Journey (and/or the sequels, The Longest Journey: Dreamfall & Dreamfall: Chapters—they can all be played stand-alone moreorless.) The first game was released in 1999 so it might be a little hard to get it to work properly, but Dreamfall and Chapters both should be fine. These are my favorite games after playing games for 30+ years. Strong, multifaceted female protagonists and a gripping science fantasy epic story make these adventure games (which means they're less about shooting guns/violence and more about puzzle solving and becoming engrossed in the world) hold a special place in my heart.

It’s an ancient but Final Fantasy VIII and games like that.

It’s turn-based RPG and adventure but the plot is HEAVY on the romance. Quite the epic love story Squall and Rinoa have going on.

Archeage is a super fun Korean open-world MMORPG, with lots of paths you can take. Once you make it to endgame, the game really starts: you can be a master crafter, trader, PVE dungeon grinder, or play PVP - plenty of opportunities to stay in your feminine and work cooperatively with your guild instead of purely competitive. The graphics are gorgeous, female characters for the most part don’t have the awkward “fan service” (stripper outfits) that they do in many games, and the community is pretty nontoxic compared to most MMO’s. 😊

My spouse and I met in college and much of our early relationship involved gaming together. You already have some great suggestions (we love Don’t Starve Together, Overcooked, Lovers in and Dangerous Spacetime and now he’ll play them without daughter), also I’d suggest looking into MMORPG’s that call to you -we spent several years playing City of Heroes together (although that one ended).

Also much of our early relationship had us sitting together (often I was on his lap) playing puzzle adventure games like Myst, Phantasmagoria, the Gabriel Knight series, Torin’s Passage, Quest for Glory, Eleventh Hour, etc). Those were great and had very much a similar effect as, say, doing an escape room together.

For solo, I really liked playing "Yes, Your Grace" it's one of those games where you play a king and its choose your own adventure. It's one of the only games I've played all the way through!

Blanc is a really cute co-op game about a baby wolf and deer who have to work together to solve puzzles and make their way back to their families.

Cat Quest 2 is a really goofy and fun fantasy game my fiancé and I played together for hours several years ago. I think the plot was that cats and dogs were at war and you’re working together to bring peace to the land?

Rainworld is a game that we’ve been meaning to play together, but haven’t gotten around to. You play as these cute little “slug cats” and adventure through this strange post-apocalyptic world I guess. I think this one is considered kind of difficult though, so may not be great for a beginner gamer.

If no games really tickle your fancy, it’s always fun to just snuggle up and watch your guy play a game! I love this scary survival game called Dead Space, but I’m too much of a wuss to play through it myself, so my fiancé played it for me. Made for many fun nights of getting jump-scared together, heh.

I'll qualify this by saying that I'm a long time gamer, so with some of these your husband may be better with the combat part. My two musts for a good game are interesting environment and quality story. I'll list games my husband and I both enjoyed, and you can look into the ones that catch your eye.

Kingdom Come Deliverance (set in Medieval Europe, you play a peasant. You aren't supposed to be good at fighting when you start.)

Witcher 3 (Sword based combat, pretty simple technique. I played Geralt and he played Ceri.)

The Mass Effect Trilogy (Awesome relationship building in a sci fi adventure)

Persona 5 Royal (High school kids with supernatural abilities in Tokyo. Turn-based.)

Final Fantasy XV (basically an animae road trip. You can play turn based if you don't want real time combat.)

Alan Wake (a mystery story about a writer in search of his wife. Exploring and shooting.)

The Arkham games, esp. Arkham City (You're Batman.)

I don't consider myself a gamer per say, but I do play quite a few video games. I think it's best to look for a game that has something to do with what you have interest in outside of just looking for a game. I love interior design and managing things so I play games like Cities Skylines, the Sims, and Going Medieval.

I also love history which got me into Crusader Kings 2 and 3.

Start with what interests you and look for games that lend themselves towards things like that.

My husband is also a gamer and we used to play a lot of Guild Wars when we were dating. It's a co op game. Now I usually just watch him play when he's playing a game that I consider gorgeous like Hogwarts Legacy and Horizon Dawn.
