REPOST: r/unpopularopinions redirected my post to a megathread that won't be seen by anyone

Before you think I'm just being fragile hear me out. What's the difference between calling a man an incel and a woman a slut, they are both used to shame people for their sex lives except slut shaming would be considered misogynistic? "Incel" implies and perpetuates the cultural attitudes that men are valuable only if they are able to attain attention and validation from women and will lead to the creation of more men like this who are unable to meet the expectations of society. Even if a dude indeed isn't able to get women and is projecting their negative attitudes onto others, using "incel" affirms society's toxic beliefs that men should feel shame for not being attractive to women. I believe there should be a concerted push in the other direction telling men that they don't need the validation of women to feel secure and happy with themselves. I believe this is a better solution as opposed to the contradictory nature of shaming men out of inceldom while suggesting that celibacy is something to be ashamed of as a man.
