Although yes, she's right about one thing, being a single parent around Christmas must be hard. I learned something important in these comments. And that’s that generalizations aren’t general. 90% of these comments are talking about “single mothers are ‘xyz’” in general, but they obviously aren’t talking about single mothers like mine who worked EXTREMELY hard to provide for me and never complained. They’re just talking about the ones who DO complain and ARE irresponsible. It’s almost a specific categorized generalization.

I think differentiating is important, as I can’t safely assume a generalized statement isn’t meant to be generalized, but as the person reading or listening, if you or your family or anyone close to you don’t fall into the generalization, then they aren’t talking about you.

Had a FB marketplace buyer try to take $50 off the price at the last minute (after I came down $200 from asking price) she sent me payment for the wrong amount after I told her I absolutely would not accept less. So I cancelled her transaction and sent a new request for the full amount. She called and argued/tried to charm me into giving it to her for $50 less and wouldn't accept no for an answer. I'm a very patient and most of the time (far too) nice person, but she drove me to real anger trying to use every excuse in the world. Eventually I told her I was calling the police if I didn't have the money in my account in 5 minutes.
