I'm trying to find ways to be happy and complete alone as a way to avoid relying onbad relationships for company, and as an insurance policy if everything fails in dating.

So far, it feels like coping, but I know people who promised to stay single and are doing fine, and in the past it was common among monks and priests, so it is possible but if done from a perspective of people who want to date it feels wrong. The issue is that if you still want someone, it will always feel like coping when you say you enjoy being alone.

It is often said that bad relationships are worse than being alone, but I disagree. There are plenty of bad relationships that provide way more meaning and comfort to people than just staying and dying alone. Prove of this is that pleny of people choose to return to toxic relationships than stay alone, which implies alone probably feels worse for those people.

Toxic relationships would not exist in the first place if people were truly able to be happy alone, but most people can't, and it sucks and it will be hell for most of us unless we find a way to be happy alone or find a loving person.

As social institutions keeps breaking down and replacing by apps and para-relationships, it will probably get worse before it gets better.
