It’s not that women expect men to change. Both parties need to change. In order to maintain balance. For example when my wife and I first started dating, I told her this is how our relationship will be. She has to be happy. As do I. First. Then us together. As a couple. Finally us, as a family. The primary reason is our kids will grow. So we too, need to grow with them.

It’s not a matter of mistreating each other. It’s a matter of growth.

I don't think marriage is the turning point. Once in a relationship women put effort in it because that's how women act when they value a person, they care for them, cook, clean, make surprises, take pride in making them happy etc. It's the same between female friends. But the difference is that female friends give the same ammount of attention and care back, whereas men don't. Men just think this is how the woman is, that she likes doing this stuff and it’s true in the begining.

But after a while it starts to become obvious to the woman that it's mostly her who invests into the relationship and that she isn't gonna get the same level of care and attention she puts in, not by his own initiative at least. It's a very disheartening realisation, but I don't think men are to blame. Most of the time they don't even know wtf is going on, since women will bring up the issue after it's already been simmering in their heads for a while.

A lot of women will put up with this for a long time, but after having kids is where most of them reach their self-sacrificing limit. Cause there's literally NOTHING more to give.

I think it's kind of simple really. I think those women get tired and it just so happens to be after marriage because of the emotional dump and big event element of marriage. Marriage makes it real that you're not gonna leave him and this is the one. I think a lot of people don't think about that until after the ring goes on or they thought once the ring went on this dude was going to stop acting like he may be a bachelor again.

I also think women pour out their love and keep going and going thinking that tomorrow is the day the dude reciprocates. And women pour themselves into the survival tasks of life thinking tomorrow is the day the dude participates too. And the it hits them that this dude has no intention of changing and so they start to put the screws to him or inevitably divorce him because they realize he's never going to treat her like a queen if she just loves him enough.

I don't think it's a bait and switch, I think it's just messy emotional stuff and people being short-sighted or thinking that their love was going to change someone. (A boot up the ass tends to work better in 90% of cases).

The kids one full-stop makes sense and anyone questioning why a woman would expect her husband to change after kids is either bad faith or a nonce.

Women expect that if a man wants to get married and have kids that he will be contributing to the increased workload. What kind of fool would expect to have the same level of housework, and not realize they will have to do more after kids??

Of course, the women eventually get fed up with it and leave. Kids especially exacerbate this since they require enormous amounts of work (which disproportionately falls to women). There's no bait and switch here, I'm sure the women thought they could live with it at the time and then discovered they couldn't.

The solution is to find a man who was always into cleaning and cooking.

It seems like the solution would be to teach men the basic skills needed for self-sufficiency, but that's just me.

It's normal for people to go through a period of going the extra mile for their partner in the beginning of a relationship - it's new, you're in love, you want to be with them all the time so you're more willing to go along with whatever they want to do.

Women have the whole taming you then dumping you thingy. It stems from the fact that a man who is out there living his life, doing manly things like playing sports, hanging out with buddies, riding motorcycles is seen as a challenge. But once a woman catches him and starts domesticating him and he goes out less and less, sells the bike, neglects his friends, etc., he just turns into another average chump. No different than a girl who keeps in shape, dresses like a sex kitten but once she gets in a relationship, the short skirts get gradually replaced by sweatpants and the pounds start packing on.
