For context I'm 35, 5'6, and Asian. I was a bartender in my 20's and in a band. I've done things in the bathroom stalls of clubs you couldn't even dream of with girls i had absolutely no business with given my stats on paper. Especially considering the attitude of Asian men in the early 2000's.

There is absolutely NO WAY IN HELL I could've ever gotten to that point without first accepting that dating life as a short guy is really really fucking hard. It was a belief I had to first accept in order to get over so that I could start moving forward.

Unfortunately, simply telling someone "sucks to be short but i know a short guy who does well" is extremely invalidating and is akin to telling someone, "well have you TRIED not being depressed??" or "I know math is hard but your buddy's doing well in class, why don't you just try being like him???".

Want a better thing to say?: first acknowledge his reality because there's no way in hell someone not short would ever be able to understand it. Then instead of simply stating that you know a short player, explain how if you want to succeed as a short guy you have to be something and you cannotttt be nothing/average.

Be really good at sports, be swole, be a good musician. Be something. But if you stay average or worse than average, you will constantly be looked over.

Please ffs, acknowledge their experiences and give them actual meaningful advice instead of empty useless platitudes.
