Well boys, this is it. After 3 months of near-daily and consistent work over the summer, I have come back with very few results.

This year, I decided to literally give it all I’ve got, and that’s exactly what I did. I would approach for 1-3 hours almost every day.

The one positive thing is that I had pretty much conquered all approach anxiety. At my peak, I could approach literally anyone and remain completely calm and composed (something I had never been able to do before).

Out of the countless approaches I did, I got quite a few phone numbers, but out of that, only 4 dates and 1 lay (the lay was from tinder, so doesn’t really count).

I would get very few outright rejections on cold approaches. Most (I would say 95%) would at least give me a chance during the conversation, but the most frequent response to a phone close is the “I have a boyfriend/husband” response.

Most of the dates did not go well. They almost all would avert their gaze, displayed almost no interest in being there, would ask me almost no questions about myself, and just generally looked like they could not wait to get out of there. One of them did seem somewhat interested, but I think that’s just because I was (by chance) vibing higher than usual that day- a somewhat rare occurence. Even then, the amount of sheer fucking effort it takes to maintain that “high/positive” vibe during the date is outright exhausting and dare I say, not even worth it.

I would say I am a decent looking and fairly confident person. I can hold a conversation well, and I have a lot of things I am passionate about.

Unfortunately, my one weakness is that I have chronic depression, which I can’t do much about. I’ve been working on it for years from every possible angle, but there is just this “wall” I can’t get over which makes my general “vibe” one that is low. Just talking to others does not come naturally to me, and takes a huge amount of effort. I've never been diagnosed with Aspergers, but everything that comes "naturally" for others in social interactions, I have to perform it in a "manual" way, so it really is exhausting.

I don’t know if it’s just a limiting belief, but I have found the number one thing women actually find the most attractive in a man is his vitality- how much life force he actually has. Something that I am lacking. I remember prior to the onset of my depression, I had no problem with women and dating. Now, it has become nearly impossible.

So after that last date, I decided that I “quit”, and that maybe there really was something fundamentally flawed with me. So I went back to “working on myself” full-time, even though there is not much more I can do about the way I am.

It only took 2-3 days for my social anxiety to come back in full-force. Now, I am purposely avoiding interactions, which is actually sad, because I had managed to condition myself to approach people as much as possible.

I am debating whether I should just keep trying, and keep pushing, and if it is even worth it. It feels like I was making great improvements in some areas, but in those that were the most important, no changes were occurring, so its like spinning wheels in the mud.

When you get a few great successes, it's easy to bounce off of those, but when you get the same kind of failures, and the same kind of reactions of disinterest from women, it's hard to ignore them and start fresh. How does one get out of such a downward spiral? I can't say I have met a single women that genuinely seemed interested or liked me. It felt so highly conditional and so much effort involved.

It feels like I really have to put up an act every time, because the "real me" is simply not interested in social interactions and talking with others in general. And if I just let myself be the "real me", the results are even worse- a significantly higher disinterest and rejection rate from others. I've tried it. It doesn't work.

Like I said regarding the depression- I've tried everything. Therapy, meds, psychedelics, meditation, exercise, nutrition, hobbies, friends, travel, etc. etc. Maybe one day I will find something that works, but for now, the reality is that I am working with a limitation on how high my mood can get. I cannot just magically change it, or "try harder". It's fucking there, and until it's resolved, this is what I have to work (and live) with.

There are so many aspects of yourself you have to have in order for this stuff to work smoothly that it feels like its just not cut for literally everybody. There are some things about myself that I just can’t change. The simple truth is that for whatever reason, I am just not somebody that is enjoyable to be around a lot of the time. Luckily, I enjoy being alone. So, what to do, what to do?

Can anyone relate to this?

EDIT: Huge THANK YOU to all the thoughtful replies. I read all of them. I will recalibrate this thing and keep going!
