"Nerdy" hobbies useful for meeting women: do they exist?

People have given you solid advice so far but I came to do you a solid. Yes being passionate about the shit you do is something women love but you are not going to meet new girls if you stick to your current hobbies/life pattern, but at the same time you shouldn't go out of your way to do stuff just to meet women.

If you want to come in contact with more women and attract more of them you should just try new things. Dabble in some new hobbies outside the comfort zone that are not stretching it too far from the comfort zone. Just things you thought about doing before but never got to it or things that pique your interest once you see it. But never ever do it to meet women. That should never be your primary goal and by thinking that you do it for women you potentially destroy pleasure you could get from activities. Do it because you want to enjoy your time on this silly planet with other people and to improve yourself to become a well rounded man. It's also a good way to make new friends.

A golden rule I have read before was: Entertain yourself with physical sports hobby, an intellectual hobby and a creative hobby. I will add to that engage in a social hobby as well but if you hit the mark on that one with one of your other hobbies it's cool. No MGT and online videogames don't count for social either or atleast not enough because they won't really allow you to to come in contact with women or make new friends who would push you more out into the wilds. I consider playing videogames more of a 'passive' hobby, MGT is less of passive hobby but it's going to be very hard to get panties soaked with that one. Those two hobbies you could allow under creative or intellectual hobbies but both still count as just one hobby. So you still have 2/3 hobbies slots to fill up and this is going to require you to free up some space in your life for these slots.

check out some meet up groups in your area see what you might be interested in.

any outdoor activity would be a good neutral place. Cycling clubs, hiking, Frisbee golf.

Nothing wrong with your hobbies (I am in a similar boat, although I have now way less time for those), but they are not gonna spark any interest in your average girl. At most they will tolerate them :P

The thing is, if you can use nerdy thing to approach a girl, huge chances are that she already is interested/invested into them. And so you may have found her already at your local shop.

I get a lot of women by being myself, and i'm a super super geek. I love films no one knows of, play smash bros melee A LOT, play hearthstone and starcraft, lots of videogames, MOBAs, animes, TV series, you know the drill. But my attitude is what has never stopped me from getting women. I have had literally women giving me a blowjob while im playing starcraft in my room. Same with hearthstone. And yes, a lot of them tell me things like 'you're such a geek'. But that never stops them from wanting to be with me. Just be yourself brother, tell them about how you are so excited to watch the next twitch tournament of a super awesome online game. She will realize you're a geek, but if you play it cool and mix it with being playful and direct, they will enjoy it. It's not the 'being a geek' part that turns them off, its just that usually geeks are associated with being shy, needy and antisocial. If you avoid that and just be a normal chatter, talkative and confident person, your hobbies doesnt matter to them. I have gotten so many girls to like and watch melee tournaments on twitch with me because i talk to them about it super excited (cuz i am indeed excited!). "Then after the tournament we can do whatever we fancy in my room." -"Sure". They say.

You're right that these hobbies won't get you anywhere with women.

But it doesn't matter. It's good that you have hobbies you enjoy, and women will either appreciate these things about you or they won't really care either way.

Hobbies don't do much to determine attraction in most cases, and when they do, it's usually fairly random; you're about as likely to meet a woman who gets wet for nerdy guys as you are to meet one who gets wet for electronic music production. It'll happen if you meet a lot of women, but not often.

The apparent exception here is hobbies that give you a skill you can actually use during pickup; if you're a poet, musician, comedian, wrestler, yoga guy, etc, you can sometimes use this to have fun and build attraction, escalate physically, etc.

If you're not, no big deal - you can just use something to build attraction, escalate, etc. The hobby isn't what dropped her panties anyway; it was the things you did while you were with her.

I feel like I see a lot more women in 'social' nerdy hobbies, i.e. tabletop games & larping games. at my local game shop, the magic days are 95% male, as you say, but the tabletop days there are a higher percentage of women. Men are still in the majority, but there are more women.

The highest percentage of women I've seen are at larps, even though they are often rather low on the 'nerd totem pole'. I think this is because such activities are more social, less logical? Moreover, I think that in a face-to-face rpg, you can practice your flirtation skills without the fear of reprisal - just have your character be more open and flirtatious than you naturally are.

I'm speaking from the viewpoint of an rpg-loving woman in a relationship with a magic-loving man, so I often see both social circles.

The biggest turn on I have had is actually a nerdy girl with a kinky sexual appetite. So Women with thosw hobbies are actually a big turn on for me and most of the women I have dated have played magic or of games actually. However, they really didn't when I first met them.

Most nerdy/sexy women are not gonna be found at these places. They are pretty hard to track down as they are usually hiding in their rooms. However, you could be going to things that a nerdy chick would probably enjoy doing (cafes, drama clubs, anime conventions, book stores and my fav, dance lessons) is a good idea. You will find nerdy chicks are attracted to other things that are not directly related to the topic.

Lastly, these chicks at the bars very well could still be closet nerds. You actually would be hard pressed to find a girl who has no interest in marvel, video games, board games or anime these days. Some are just waiting for a guy to show them how to play or what to watch. These chicks are the best because you will look over at them and see actual joy and excitement on their faces when you are showing them how to play magic or a watching a new movie/anime. That's how you know you found a good one, when they ask for you to show them more. I have dated 4 girls in the last year who Have played magic the gathering/settlers of catan with me at somepoint. Found them at dance lessons and bars. So it is very possible to find them.

Yes but you'll either need to have other interest as well or be really good at it and be able to make it interesting for your target demographic. There is a fine line between nerdy and beta, just make sure you really are nerdy and not just using it as an excuse to be shy. Vin Diesel comes to mind, he plays D&D but seems to also be confident and works out.

Have any of you managed to use stereotypically geeky hobbies to meet women?

I have actually, although its a very specific case tbh.

There's a game called "Audition Online" where 70% of the playerbase is female. All ranges of age (I am 23 for example and meet many between 19-27) and all types of personalities from all over the world (Mostly USA though).

It is a "Competitive Dancing MMO", but in reality is mostly played casually by most people to chat, listen to music, get friends/hang out, 'dance" and etc. It's a pretty old game at this point but still has new people playing it all the time.

I have met.. About 12 girls irl just within the last 3 months of playing this game? I had my first 4 year serious/long term relationship from meeting someone on this game, I had multiple dates in the past. Currently in a romantic relationship with someone that I met in the game.

In general this game was my main way of meeting girls without finding new hobbies. I've met Lesbians, Bi's, a lot of straight girls who were fun to be around, alottt of gamer girls who I game with in many other games, crazy ones, super religious ones, artistic ones, really you can meet anyone on there is the point I'm trying to make.

Meeting and becoming friends with them got me to meet their friends and gave me even more opportunities. I get invited to hang out all the time now around females, mainly due to the relationships I built from within this game.

If you like video games and want to try out the game, it's on Steam. Go in with a mindset of just having fun and meeting people. If you find someone near your area and enjoy talking to them ask to meet up. I have yet to hear a "No" from anyone I asked and I have been on this game for years.

Generally people in this game are very relaxed, friendly and willing to hang out in real life. You're going to have to enjoy the gameplay/music to stick around.... But If you do, it's a really easy way to meet new people. It's a game that attracts social people because the social aspect is such a huge core to actually enjoying the game.

You also instantly have something to talk about in real life when you meet with them as you will both know each other by then and have things in common. I find girls from this game have more in common/share hobbies with me and are less judgemental overall then 90% of the women I meet outside of the game.

Edit: One thing I realize is that I do in fact live in NYC and this might not work for people living in lower populated areas.

Wait, you aren't trying to expand yourself and your interests, but trying to fit women into yours? Getting better with women is about improving one's self and pushing one's limits. How are you doing this?

The problem with a lot of the world of geek is that there aren't enough attractive women to go around.

Since you agree with Models and realize taht you need to be out most of the week meeting women, I think you should research daygame venues (coffeehouses, festivals, street game, bookstores, malls) and the meetup groups that tend to be female heavy.

Learn useful life hobbies that you would anyway besides getting girls. I would put cooking near the top. You have to eat, the more you cook the healthier you'll eat, and most girls find a man cooking sexy.

Next, I consider learning attraction a nerdy hobby to pick up women. Go out more. Practice picking up girls more. I tell them about it, though usually describing it as personal development.

find new hobbies. What are you limiting yourself to only 'stereotypical nerd hobbies' ? Broaden your horizons instead of being a conformist nerd. Plus it's like taking "a big fishing trip" out in the Sahara desert. Uh, no, go to where the fucking fish are.

here's some great ones. Stage theater of any kind, women far outnumber the men, and are very horny.

Improv, mostly dudes but about 40% women.

Dance classes ... usually mostly women. Yoga/ pilates, needless to say.

Painting or art stuff, music related stuff. Weird fashion and dress-up related scenes; there's some cross-over with anime and other bullshit here.

Rock climbing, a softball league.

If you are focusing on meeting women in your social interactions, you probably should pick ones that are female heavy instead of stuff like you listed.

At a 200 person Magic tournament there's maybe like 5 girls and they are so on edge because of this imbalance and probably the 30 raps they had to hear already that day by the time they get to you.

Vidya isn't social. Unless you know of some club where people get together and hang out and play. As far as I know you are not going to meet anyone.

It doesn't have to be a hobby you are already "into". Take a cooking class. Do some local theater. If you are into music production try to find some people to jam/create with.

Being interested in things is the attraction, it matters less what the hobby is, and more that you genuinely enjoy doing it.

That being said, magic probably doesn't fit this category. Things like reading or exercise are more what I would consider an attractive interest.

Hey man, I was probably worse off then you are now. I like video games (sausage fest), math (sausage fest), sudoku (not even a legit hobby), STEM (86% males), rap music (no chick even likes it), archery (not even a legit hobby), fishing/hunting/shooting (girls actually dislike this). Even the fucking sports I'm into are male dominated, swimming and running, women don't do those because women swimmer and runners end up with ugly bodies. And I have no trouble meeting women, I just simply didn't meet them through hobbies. I met them through friends and by just approaching. Going to bars isn't as bad as you think, and you don't have to give up playing League or DOTA to do it. It helped me a lot, I think you should give it a try. But remember to stay true to yourself! You're gonna do alright.

Even steryotpically "cool" hobbies, such as mma, recreational sports leagues, spending all day in the gym, being into the metal scene, or rap scene, are all male dominated, archery, dragracing, etc, are all male dominated hobbies. If you enjoy them you should continue them, but dont rely on them as an outlet to meeting girls. You can definatiley like guys with unique interests, but those activities cant be ur primary topic of conversation. Bars are a great place to meet women, but whatever ur hobby is don't talk about it 24/7 to the point it becomes an obsession

Nerdy hobbies aren't going to get you women. On that much, I think everyone here agrees.

But where other people are saying it's fine to have hobbies, I'm going to tell you... stop being a nerd! Quit playing video games and Magic. You don't need those things.

Other people are saying it's good to have hobbies you enjoy, and they're not wrong. However, I'm going to suggest that perhaps there are TONS of hobbies out there that you might enjoy, but you're never going to discover them if you spend all your time doing nerdy things.

Sure, perhaps you can manage to learn enough game that you could find a woman who accepts your nerdy hobbies. But here's the problem with that: she's always going to be embarrassed by them. She's going to speak of you derisively to her friends. She's going to always be looking around for a replacement... someone more masculine, more mature, less of a nerdy little child.

So do you want to be a nerdy little child who has trouble with women? Or do you want to do a little work, get yourself in shape, take on some more interesting, more attractive hobbies, and spend your spare time in the company of beautiful women?

It's a choice. You have to make a choice.
