It's not a light topic to bring up but if she's refusing to do a prenup it's going to be a concern for you moving forward. How do you want to buy a house, build a business and work your a** off, which most men would gladly do for the family, knowing that she didn't want to sign that prenup. It makes more sense for her to just do it...

Having said that, you could put that money away, maybe a trust, and only use your new money to make joint investments. Check with a lawyer but assets you had prior to marriage might not be considered as joint assets, in which case you might be fine.

I am curious because my STBXH pretended he knew nothing about the equity in the house I had before we got married so I got none of it. Women get screwed too. Sign it over to a family member that you trust that way she can’t get it since it’s not in your name if you get divorced. Have u guys lived together? Do u know her dating past? Have u noticed any red flags? Are her friends mostly married, divorced, or single ?

I can tell you by experience if things go bad, all women will take as much as possible, no matter how nice they were before is in their DNA to look at us as providers and even more if they are emotional by the divorce.

Protect the money you earned with your effort.

Hope you will have a forever marriage, but believe me, being divorced is more easy to go over it than feeling stupid with she enjoying your money.

Wonderful, loving, and supportive... until it comes time for you to protect yourself from getting divorce graped out of the gains on your premarital assets. Then it's a no go. Is that really wonderful, loving, and supportive? And "pushing for marriage"? Yeah there's a reason for that. Modern marriage is a financial guarantee to the woman. Since she knows she's in it with you forever, why does she need a government contract to enforce it? A "good woman" shouldn't need it.

And wealthy families are great at keeping the wealth IN THE FAMILY. You won't have access to any of that wealth, so don't consider that a balancing factor in any way to the wealth that YOU are bringing to the potential partnership here. If anything it's a detriment, it means she's going to have financial backing from her family to pay an army of lawyers to bone you every which way in "family" court in the event of divorce.

This is a common issue. It usually depends on how you raise it as much as raising it to begin with. To the future-ex, they view it as you not trusting them, whereas we view it as giving peace of mind. If she really has money, she may just plainly be insulted for you to think she would go after such a small amount as you have. But usually it's trust. If it's because she has a lot of money and is insulted - then it's easy to turn it around and say that she should want the prenup more than you!

It’s just a business transaction. So treat it like one. Have insurance for your car? Of course you do. It’s not romantic but neither is divorce. If her family is wealthy then they should gift the BOTH of you an equal amount of your premarital assets. Bring something to the table of life. Not just one party doing the work and someone just shows up.
