Female no doubt. Unless you grow up tall and super extrovert, the average boy is gonna have a hard time. It's nightmare mode if you're short or autistic.

It's hard for me to have a preference for this kinda reason. A child can be born with all sorts of challenges and issues, or acquire them later on, and we can't really know if they're gonna turn out conventionally attractive or not. The way I see it is there are steep challenges in life and dating for both sexes, and I struggle to compare them much at all. So much of it depends on how the child is raised too.

But I do also kinda see your point. It would probably be a lot harder to raise a boy to be successful and conventionally attractive enough to have a chance at finding a wife, or any kinda good relationships with women. No matter how much I'd like to believe I could be a good mother for a son assuming I choose a good father for him. Because at the end of the day, a lot is still completely outside of the parents' control.

However, I'd also worry about a potential daughter turning out too rebellious and careless for her own good, because I had that streak in my 20's, and as they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Either way, I worry I'd not manage to protect the kid enough, while simultaneously wanting to avoid becoming overprotective like my mother was.

I guess I've thought about this kinda stuff a little too much. Parenting, I mean. Being a still single and childless woman over 35, I kinda doubt I'll ever end up having a child, but I like thinking about the possibilities a lot, even if they're turning into a pipe dream by the day. That doesn't really matter. I enjoy just speculating about it. But I don't typically spend a lot of energy on things I can't control.

When it comes to my personal preferences, I'd probably prefer having a boy, just because I've always been so invested in connecting with and learning from men in general, so I think I'd really appreciate the learning curve of raising a boy. But I'd also of course enjoy having a daughter, and in the end it wouldn't matter to me which sex the child is either.

But I just don't really take into consideration which sex would have the highest success in life or dating. That feels kinda absurd to me to even think about. So I kinda have to play along here a bit, and pretend this even mattered to me. If so, yeah, I'd choose girl too.

Personally I'd rather just have a healthy child free of any genetic flaws or mental illness. Considering my genes that would be a dream come true. So as long as that happens I don't care about their sex.

But I do think this is a good question and have thoughts on it, so I'll answer it according to those.

I think I'd rather have a girl to be honest. Right now there is a tremendous amount of social care, effort and overall goodwill on behalf of women.

You can find it everywhere from media to politics and societal interactions. It's part of an overarching "culture of atonement" that seems to be in vogue right now for all the crappy things done to different groups of people, although I notice that this isn't spread evenly.

So I'd argue that my hypothetical daughter would benefit a great deal from that environment, although I would definitely worry about things like predatory men, rape, abuse and just mundane bad influences.

Here is one caveat though:

This "culture of atonement" while good intentioned, it has spawned some pretty bad consequences.

I--and I think pretty much anyone with eyes, ears and a working brain--can see that there is a deep bubbling resentment and even hatred growing in those groups either left out of this abundance or branded as oppressors in need of repentance.

This current paradigm has a limited shelf life and I'm wary of the insane backlash or pendulum swing that will occur when it finally loses momentum.

I fear for myself and would also for my hypothetical daughter since she would definitely be consumed in the revenge strike that is coming, whether physical or political/social.

I have one of each, and it's neither/both. Both have very different challenges at different stages of life, and each needs to be taught different grounding/lessons in order to be produced and independent.

Male. The pendulum is swinging back. Women have been dominating for obvious reasons (missandry), just like men have in the past (misogyny). It’s gotten too extreme and will violently shift back, but could ultimately equalize (hopefully).

Yet I don’t think it will equalize as there seems to be zero communication between the sexes collectively. Times WILL be tougher moving forward and men are more built for this environment.

I do fear women will lose rights given how far it’s gone. Men are pissed and still have the underlying power. If economies and governments collapse, there will be nothing to protect (liberal) women during this transition.

So actual answer is neither, shit is fucked.

I would rather they just not exist in such a fucked up world we have today (I don’t have kids). Having kids now is dooming them to grow up in a world with no empathy, no compassion, endless inflation debt and poverty. Plus WWIII is around every corner potentially.

If I had to choose though I’d prefer a girl. They get life on pretty much fuckin’ easy mode compared to the average boy. My opinion of course.

It's a lot easier to predict what the quality of a boy's life will be like, no matter what the future political climate might look like. With a girl, sure there's the potential that the advantages women have in 2025 might carry on into her adulthood, but it's also possible that her rights will be greatly restricted in a few decades or something. I'd worry a lot more about a girl and I don't think I'd want to gamble on her life like that. There's no equivalent threat to a boy.

Fwiw though I don't want kids because I don't think they would have a good life, regardless of sex.

Raising a well adjusted son is much harder than raising a well adjusted daughter. For a boy to be successful, he needs to maintain good grades, get into a good university and then get a well paying job, so he can attract a mate. On top of this, he will need to style and groom himself and lift to make sure he is in shape and maintains a good body fat percentage. He will also need to develop sharp social skills, and having any kind of mental disorders will put him at a significant disadvantage, as he will be responsible for being confident, having high-self esteem so that he can approach women. He will also have to avoid addictions like drugs, alcohol, video games and pornography, all of which can be a huge time and money sink, and make it harder for him to do well in school and affect his self esteem. Also, men are more likely than women to be addicted to video games and porn, so that raises the addiction risk even higher for him. Also, if living in a mostly white town, he will have to be white. If he is not white or he is short and living in a white town, he will likely have to go abroad to get a wife.

If you have a daughter, you just have to teach her how to wear makeup and vet boys/men. She doesn't even need a job, she can just live with her husband until she finds a husband. By the age of 22, she will be able to attract successful men in their 30s to marry her and take care of her.

Male. My brother and I would have different rules growing up, with most of them leaning in his favor.

My brother was allowed to stay out longer and go further. While I wasn't allowed to leave the neighborhood, my brother was allowed to go to the city. If my brother didn't text, everyone was calm. If I didn't, my mom would blow up my phone until I'd finally see her calls and messages. I hated it back then, but as I got older, I started to understand why we were treated so differently.

I work until midnight, and I bike home afterwards. Male colleagues, some of whom also bike home after work, have told me I was both brave and stupid for biking at that time. Male acquaintances scold and lecture me about my safety because I do things that men can do without a second thought. The first time I got groped, I was 14, walking outside in broad daylight. My brother often goes on vacations by himself, which is something I can't even dream of.

I don't want that for my child. We all have our own struggles and men struggle more in other areas, but when it comes to physical safety, they still have the upper hand. They always will. To me, safety is the most important thing.

See throaway73737828's comment. A girl the better she's raised the harder life gets (and if she's raised like shit then life is the easiest of any human being). A boy the better he's raised the better life gets. So I guess, it depends on how you estimate you'll be able to raise your kids, if you put more emphasis on your child's integrity, morals, values etc... or just the practicality of what they'll have to deal with in life.

I guess for best life it depends how you approach the situation. If you make a girl, she doesnt need to be worked a lot, since she gonna have fun in her 20s with chads and then settle when 30 comes around. And its easy for them to do it, they just have to go through their instagram and dating app messages. And I dont see any women who complains about that lifestyle. So even if you are a good father, you dont control the life of the girl, because she gonna do what she does when 18-19 comes. You can do the best to instill the idea of looksmaxxing to her when she is young. So when she hits 14, you can get a trainer for her and if she stays consistent, she gonna have the best body in 18,19 etc. And she would be happy that you helped her to build her body.

For boy its different tho, if you are a nice father your a shit father and gonna fail him and he has to do all the work later on because you were nice to him . You have to raise him to be a chad and a businessman. Starting from the age of 7-8. You have to make him work and understand that if he doesn’t work hard in life he aint gonna live good. You have to sign him to sports, not give him shit food ever, to read good books and knowledge, make him go to speech classes, make him learn about money, and give him responsibility. If you do that, he is going to live his best life. Otherwise you are a failure as a father.
