It's easy to observe women crying more, women talking about their feelings more, etc., and conclude that that means women are more emotional internally.

But I don't think it's true. There is a difference, for example, between "instrumental" anger and "hostile" anger.

Instrumental anger, as the name suggests, is anger that is performed to obtain a desired result. Often this involves yelling at a subordinate, such as a direct report at work or a husband who refuses to buy you a diamond necklace.

Hostile anger is the instinctive boiling over into reality.

It is my contention that men are more beholden to their emotions, less able to control them, and more likely to take reckless actions to numb or sate these emotions.

I say this, as a guy, not to conclude that being more emotional or less emotional is better or worse. In fact, I see no need whatsoever to regulate one's natural emotions other than to the extent necessary to effectively participate in society and achieve one's goals and desires.

So don't go spilling all your secrets to a girl if you're trying to hit it.
