Depends what you mean by "show their vulnerabilities". If you mean that women will lose attraction if you show them that you are a depressive whiner, well no shit. That is to be expected. She is not your mom, you are not her poor little baby.

On the other hand if you are a properly masculine man with enough alpha behaviors then women will love it if you show them just a little bit of vulnerability.

Today's woman doesn't provide much companionship. She's not a good mother, not a good listener not a good partner. Women have spent a couple of generations brainwashing little boys into thinking of women as more than objects for sex and when those boys grew up, they saw what women aren't really worth it. So some men are going back to thinking of women as just objects for sex. Are they worth pursuing? Maybe for a minute. They are like that night when you want mcflurry, you drive your ass to the store to get yourself something that is outrageously bad for you. Is it worth it? it isn't, you know it isn't, but you still do the drive, you still wait in line, why? It's not like you're hungry. You do it becuase it's just an urge. An itch that you want to scratch. And if you get to the counter and the cashier says that the machine isn't working, you know it's no big deal because a mcflurry doesn't benefit you and a little part of you says "thank god, I don't want to gain that 2lbs from a snack size". And if the machine is working, you get your fix and move on.

Unfortunately, that is the only value that today's woman has for a man. Companionship is not what men pursue because women aren't good companions, they pursue a fix to an urge.

You can as long as its done in the right place. You have to, in somesense have built up credibility with the woman before you do so.

If in the first week of dating a woman and your mother dies, yeah... you break down crying and appeal to her emotionally, most woman will less want to date you. If your married for ten years in a strong relationship and your mother dies your wife would probably consider it wrong if you didn't open up to her.
