Honestly I don't understand how you can be out in the world , hitting on women and see people who are successful and not realize how important looks are.

You must live in a different reality where most women you approach will interact with you and give you a chance. The l world I live in tells me that no, most women will not give you a chance to know who you are if the outside doesnt matter.

I wrote a long long post the other day about the effect male appearance has on women on a sexual level. And the conclusion I drew was, yes some women will react to good-looking men the same way men react to good-looking women - in certain contexts.

But the truth is status has a much bigger effect on those kinds of women than looks, though its understandable that many men can't tell the difference from afar. Female competition is the catalyst for the superficial aspects of men becoming more significant, because women don't compete over how smart/sensitive/romantic/emotionally expressive their man is. They compete over a man's status/style/social capital/money/looks/desirability etc.

The real truth is that women respond to how a man behaves and how others react to him. Looks are tangential to that.

Maybe instead of railing against men for thinking looks matter, help men distinguish between the effects looks have (and they do, but its frequently overstated/understated/misunderstood) and help men understand what really matters which is male social behavior.
