The so called Mommy Track- less promotions after a baby when mom scales back her hours is real. But I think it’s a consequence and thus not something to be bitched about.

The reality is if you work less and don’t do as much OT, you will take a hit work wise. This isn’t fair. I personally am going through this. But it is a very real consequence. I’m choosing to work less for my health and overall well being and I didn’t get a promotion. I have no kid but I would like one (hopefully two!!) someday and this is just kind of prep for that.

If you work less hours, you will be passed over for others. This is awful and shouldn’t be the case but it is right now. The solution to this consequence is find a new family friendly job or just accept that while you’re in this mindset, there won’t be as much growth.
