So I hear this being said a lot both when I was a teenager at church and here. I never quite understood what it means to be "submissive". Can you guys give some concrete real life examples?

I know that I get an angered feeling when I see women calling their boyfriends or husband's their "captain". I don't know why. I'm in line with the RPW on almost everything but I think this is one area I have some internal struggles. Both because I don't understand it and I feel a sense of defiance and anger when I see some instances of it, I guess (like when people call their SO "captains", willingly let go their control and dominance?)

I was raised by a strong, arrogant, etc. feminist mother (embodiment of everything that is wrong and bad about feminists. Terrible mother, without going into too many details.) and an absent and, I guess what would be considered here, a "beta" male as a father. I like my father but he was never there and I never spent too much time with him. My impression of him is that he was always seemed helpless and being wronged in some way by other people, especially by my mother with her terrible ideas (that always cost him money and end up not being successful, etc.). My father divorced her when I was 11 and I was raised by an angry, single bad feminist mother. I don't know if it's an attitude I picked up from my feminist mother or if it's some sort of subconscious disrespect for my father that I generalize on men I would date, I just get so angry when women refer to their SO as captains, etc. I'm not even quite sure what it means to be submissive or if I'm a submissive person (preliminarily, I don't think I am, but not sure).

Can someone help enlightened me as to what is "being submissive" and some concrete real-life situations and examples? Would be much appreciated!!!
