There are two parallel threads running in this sub: the statistical thread concerned with gathering data to accurately depict the social hierarchy, and the political thread concerned with finding ways to achieve a (subjectively) desirable goal state about it.

This is no different from r/CapitalismVSocialism. We can translate debates here in a debate there and viceversa.

The main ideology here seems to be libertarian: "you do you, always", in line with our western values. But I suspect this is not most people's political ideology. Why is that? Why don't you apply the concepts from economics, politics and philosophy you employ in other areas of your thinking to this discourse also? Especially considering the great deal of psychological effects and money involved in it!

For example, many arguments about the minimum wage also apply to paying on a date: "we'd get more quality dates" "yes, but ugly women or broke men would get less of them, so entry level workers (ugly women) and small businesses would be damaged (broke men) would have it even harder!" "but it would ensure stability once one can get one!", and so on.

So, since sexuality is just as important as other areas of life, I encourage you to integrate the hierarchy mangling engine you employ in your political thinking into your PPD thought and make sure there are no contradictions between the two.

TL;DR: There is a wealth of literature about what we talk about here which can be employed with little translation. Use it!
