Many of us want to be truly seen and understood on a deep level and have true emotional connections with our partners. And yet our own attractiveness and the perceived attractiveness of our partners is based entirely on outward markers such as fitness, fashion, wealth, and status. This is how we filter our potential partners.

For those of you unaware of the blackpill. It refers to the scientific consensus that these outward markers and especially physical attractiveness plays a huge role in how you are perceived via the halo effect. We don’t specifically care about these things, but it just so happens all the people we find attractive are fit and successful etc.

Anyone who’s been through a weight loss journey will surely have noticed a difference in how they are treated.

I’m sure most women have realized they get treated differently when they are wearing something more revealing.

And I’ve definitely thought this girl is only looking at me because I’m tall and lean.

This seems shallow, and yet we still workout and dress nice in order to attract our partners. Visual appearance is obviously very important to both genders.

How can you ever know if someone is truly with you for you?

So many people here accuse every man who is financially successful and married of betabuxxing. How do you know that? How does he truly know that he’s not? Of course, the woman will say she doesn’t care about money but would she have chosen him and perceived him in a positive light if he was broke? What’s the solution? To hope a girl will respect you for being broke?

To me it seems like a catch 22. I need to look good in order to attract a partner, but if I do: How do I know she actually likes me and is not just using me as a self esteem or status boost?

To be clear I’m not working out or dressing well just for girls more so for myself, but as I get fitter and feel people treating me better I also appreciate the people around me less because it feels shallow and fake and I just feel lonelier. Although I can’t blame them for being human.

How can you know if your partner truly loves you? Is love even possible or are we all just aiming for highest value partners based on the predetermined definitions of attractiveness?
