This seems to be a likely possibility, with several factors contributing to increase that likelihood. So all of the necessary ingredients for cuckoldry to become mainstream. I disagree in the role that sex work plays: I don’t think that that’s going t be an important factor, though your argument is interesting.

I don’t think men would “hate” open relationships nor would they feel forced to be part of one. Husband and I date others separately, we are also both heterosexual, opened for 2 years now, total 12 yrs l married and still love and fuck each other.

It works because we already had a strong relationship, are both communicative, on the same page and mature. We also both take care of our looks(staying fit, groomed, etc) and have decent personalities and qualities, so attracting and keeping partners is not a problem for him or me; if those qualities were lacking I doubt we would’ve stayed together either way. If we are dealing with negative feelings we talk about it, adjust if needed, continue to value and respect each other. Neither of us feel like the “loser/winner”.

I’m sure outsiders will look down at the situation because they fear “she/he is going to leave me for them because I’m not attractive enough”, or “they devalue themselves by sharing their bodies”.

I would argue that if you believe these things, you should save your virginity and only settle for another virgin for your permanently monogamous relationship(cause sex apparently devalues you). And/or re-evaluate your current relationship if you’re dependent on the fact that “he/she settled for me and the expectation of monogamy is the only thing keeping them around”.
