Short answer... NO. I have not, and could not, cheat on someone I’m in a committed relationship with. If I love someone, and I’m committed to them, I couldn’t live with knowing that I did something so hurtful and selfish that would cause so much pain to her. It would kill me inside to know that I did that to someone I loved so much. I’m the type of person that doesn’t get really attached or fall in love with a woman over night. However, once it happens, I am fully devoted and faithful to her. Obviously, I’m not representative of “all men”, but I know there are many like me. A cheap thrill would never be worth betraying a person I love and hurting them.

I think a majority of men here (RP), will cheat. They have been taught to believe that AWALT and have fully embraced I DGAF about anyone but themselves - family, kids, wives, gf, none of it is more important than themselves.

However, the are a large amount of men who wouldn't cheat. I think most men and women will admire someone other than there SO at some point, but most aren't willing to destroy a realtionship for a quickie. I have known some shit guys, but luckily I have known a lot of good guys as well. It just depends on the circle you chose to circulate with.

We need to define "cheating" first.

Let's define it as: when someone in an explicitly committed and monogamous relationship (or marriage) has sex with someone else.

If we wanted to be precise we should also define "sex", but let's take the shortcut and assume we all agree with what sex is. I am not being funny, if you've been cheated on, you know what I am talking about.

So, back to the original OP's question:

No. The woman in a should not expected to be cheated in an explicitly committed and monogamous relationship (or marriage) should not expect to be cheated on. And neither should the man.

I would ask “why do men even get into relationships” but the answer’s pretty obvious (something about eating cake).

Unpopular opinion time:

You should expect anyone, regardless of gender or commitment, to be able to cheat.

I'm not saying that as an pro-poly argument, you should expect it so that you can prevent cheating (also NOT arguing for constant monitoring). Most people are capable of cheating, period. Even the one's that hate cheating.

As in, there are several times that I've been able to predict that a couple would break up due to cheating, before the cheating happened. And I'm not inside their homes, I don't know how good or bad this relationship is. Somethimes I didn't even know the people very well...

But there are things that you can do that massively increase the risk of being cheated on... And we don't talk about them because there's this presumption that you have to be a bad person to cheat and talking about what 'causes' cheating is seen as defending cheating.

I don't see it like that? It's like with rape. If you bring up how the victim should have been able to prevent rape by not doing x, y, z, then you suck. The rape happend, we can't reverse time, they are not at fault for someone else their actions. But that doesn't mean that giving out information on how to prevent rape BEFOREhand is victim-blaming. The information should be given out and talked about so that the people that want to use it, can.

What can cause an otherwise faithfull person to cheat is information that should be given out, so that the people that want to use that information, can use it.

It depends on the man you picked, and you do pick them. I know men that don't cheat and never have, and I'm a man that doesn't cheat and never has. I also know men that do cheat. Accepting this fear as immutable fact can only serve to make all your relationships toxic going forward, you have to give the benefit of the doubt if you are expecting a long term relationship. So we know it's possible to enter into a successful long term relationship with a man, if this is your goal you should scrutinize any potential suitors under this lens. I think personal history and social media posts should give you enough insight as to whether your values fall in line with theirs, also who their friends are and their reputation.

In every relationship I’ve had I’ve never cheated, despite plenty of women trying to get me to do so. It comes down to the morals of your partner. Cheating is an absolute breach of the fundamental trust your partner has in you. Do I find plenty of girls attractive? Sure. Doesn’t meant I’m going to cheat.

Also, I don’t think cheating is really a hypergamy issue so much as it’s a lack of moral issue.

I think it's a consequence of hypergamy that men cheat on their partners.

For example all women chase chad (80:20) ratio so chad doesn't have to be faithful because of his unlimited options.

Due to this, normal guys are having to settle for women below their looks level and therefore aren't super attracted to them and thus cheat if a prettier woman more on their own looks level becomes available.
