What are RPers view of body positivity?

Body positivity is only for Women. You won't see a guy cheering for his friend who is fat by saying "You go man, you deserve everything"..and also for a short guy, which is actually a genetic thing. Most girls have a criteria for a certain height and they won't go below that. So as a man, you are put to standards and you work through with what you got, and complaining about it doesn't make it any better, so it's always better to take what you have and maximize it. But as we all know a woman's value is predominantly on the way she looks, if a woman is ugly and have no dating options, she is kinda doomed. And women hate ugly women, believe me I have seen it first hand. They would go behind her back and make her feel bad for what she is.. It's a lot harder for women if she is not beautiful or good looking by society's standards. So yeah body positivity I guess pushes women a bit I guess, but still with a whole lot of body positivity, if her inner self esteem is low, she's kinda fucked anyway So not to take any shots, but it's always better to accept who you are and maximize what you have. As a guy, if you are short, you get jacked. As a woman, if you are fat, you get slim, hit the gym and become fit. It's not for someone else, it's usually for a boost in self esteem and believe me that works. Instead of these movements, it's always better to maximize your own potential. That's what I think.

I think its bad because it is very one sided (you never read about “body positivity” for short men etc).

Encouraging people to be fatasses, acting like its sexy and so forth is straight up clown world.

From a strictly selfish point of view body positivity has made my life a a chubby chaser much more difficult. 30 years ago it was much easier to meet fat women's standards.

On the plus side the visual landscape has improved. There are a lot more pretty fatties in skimpy clothing out and about these days.

I don’t think it’s healthy to promote unhealthy lifestyles. Being in shape takes a lot of hard work and discipline, and I think that this whole “body positivity” movement is just another way for society to try and reward people for being lazy.

Look at the way some people treated Adele because she had the audacity to work hard, stay disciplined and get the body type she always wanted. It’s disgusting and toxic.

Meanwhile people like Lizzo are glorified. She literally needs extra support just to sit in chairs. She’s probably going to have serious health problems in the next few years. People should not be acting like her lifestyle is okay. It is not.

The “Body Positivity” movement is ridiculous.

It’s stupid, because it’s trying to abolish on of the last standards that men have for modern women - not being fat. Women have tons of standards and demands when it comes to dating men, many of them being hard to achieve or impossible to reach due to biological reasons, but women refuse to accept that men have standards too and don’t want to do anything to meet them while being delusional about their SMV.

Body positivity is fat people (especially women) being proud of their unhealthy lifestyles. But in the eyes of many men, not being fat is the bare minimum and probably the easiest and softest standard you can put on someone. It’s certainly easier to be not fat than earning six figures or being 6 feet tall.

I would LOVE for short fat men to be included in the body positivity movement because it would wake people up to how idiotic it is. The day that a shirtless fat guy is glorified as a strong, brave man whose extra adipose tissue raises him to some exalted status, and not just a fat person with impulse control problems, is the day the body positivity movement shows how ridiculous and hypocritical it is. A lot of people would instantly get it.

Either bad or neutral. It annoys me that it seems to primarily apply to women and weight. Of all the things you could be considered less attractive for weight is one of the few that is usually your fault and within your power to change so its mind boggling to me that it sgets more support than traits that people have no control over.

At the end of the day tho the movement doesn't actually change things imo. Its just lip service/empty platitudes. Fat people still suffer an attractiveness penalty and are viewed as less valuable regardless of how many adds you run to say the contrary. Same would be true if we opened body positivity to height for example. Even if you run adds saying short men are equal to tall men they will still suffer and attractiveness penalty in the eyes of most women.

The conventional message is that we shouldn't want to change ourselves to fit beauty standards and to accept we are all beautiful in our own way. I think that is dumb and impractical. As unpopular as it may be to say I think wed be better off trying to change ourselves to fit the standard. The issue is medical technology is not advanced enough yet where we can all do that but as an example if height surgery was safe and effective yeah I think most men would be better off increasing their height than to rely on body positivity movements to save them from being disadvantaged.

It's bad if it encourages obesity and other unhealthy behaviors. No one would be in support of a movement to have more pictures of models smoking cigarettes, so why is there a movement to have more pictures of morbidly obese models?

Discounting that, the whole thing just seems like an exercise in naivete. Do you really think men are going to stop finding slim, fit women attractive because some 300 lb woman posts pictures in her underwear and proclaims #fatisbeautiful?

It's really nothing more than the usual of a group of people who find it easier to just blame "society" and "the media" than take responsibility for their own actions.

Body positivity is a female adaptation to the obesity epidemic. It is obviously bullshit, but it may be necessary bullshit to some degree. It's unclear to me whether it does more harm than good.

There is some mystery to the obesity epidemic. Yes, there is no mystery as to how to be thin on an individual level. But that may take more effort than the typical person is capable of. I've read articles that suggest that even factoring in us eating more and moving less, we are still fatter than that. There may indeed be something in the food fucking with our basic biology. At any rate, given time constraints and natural human laziness, it may be difficult to expect the average person to put in significantly more effort staying thin than previous generations did. It is hard to motivate people en masse to do something as unnatural as exercise for exercise sake. There's a real chance that any solution to the obesity epidemic may require significant top down solutions rather than a bottom up exercise and healthy eating revolution focused on the individual. Average people are lazy.

At any rate, in light of the above, from a certain perspective, the obesity epidemic is something that is inflicted on people, including women. However, female sexuality is different than men's. Most women need to feel sexy to get sexy. Fat acceptance is sort of a necessary lie to allow female sexuality to function in a culture where most women are obese.

So while it is bullshit, and I'm usually inclined to feel that lies are always bad, one has to also look at the alternative. It is not clear that removing body positivity would have enough motivational impact to eliminate the obesity epidemic. So instead, we'd still have obesity, but also more women who just shut down sexually, unable to feel attractive and thus unable to be attracted to men.

First off, being a fat fuck is unhealthy. Second, landwhales with egos as inflated as their adipocytes is not good for the average guy who’s got nothing to choose from. The fatties think they’re too good to settle for anything less than an English prince or a billionaire with a fuckboy on the side. Now, I’m not one of those average guys but these people’s laziness and gluttonous ways, not to mention unwillingness to hide their deformed bodies, disgusts me. (We know that the only “benefactors” are women, as no one speaks positively of fat men) Fat people should feel ashamed for their fatness but weak men are the reason why there are fat women out there who think that they look good, too good, in fact, for fat men. It’s ironical to call this a movement as these people barely move. Being fat is an inflammatory state which isn’t conducive to happiness. Everyone would be happier if people embraced healthy habits and threw out the junkfood.

But if you insist on what I think personally as a RP guy, I am all in for body positivity that centers around skin deep problems like say normalizing stretch marks, acne and their crater marks, keloids, burn marks, physically disabled etc. Maybe even muscular or physical deformities on an otherwise regular person.

Unfortunately fat women have taken full control over this movement and that's pretty sad really.

I’m positive diabetes exists I’m positive heart disease exists these body positivity people really don’t seem to get the obvious correlation between being overweight and increased risk of death. Fat people are disgusting and should not be encouraged. Unless you have a one-in-a-million genetic condition, being fat is 100.00% your fault.

In addition, body positivity tends to only focus on fat women and their problems, to the exclusion of people it might genuinely help- ugly people, people with deformities, and short men.
