What are you doing for your men for Christmas?

Giftwise, I've put together a traditional shaving kit. Badger brush, quality safety razor with a variety of blades, alum block, etc. He's been talking about wanting to switch from the multi blade disposable razors to this style and r/wicked_edge was helpful in figuring out what products would be appropriate for a beginner, a good deal, and also high quality.

I will also be handling Christmas cards for friends and family. I think he appreciates this because it's important to his family but not a task he wants to undertake.

I'll be making some of his family recipes for christmas, including cookies from his childhood.

Last and certainly not least, he wants to volunteer every Sunday in December at a soup kitchen, so I'll be setting that up for us and working alongside him.

We weren't able to hide our gifts from each other! Gave my boyfriend a vaporizer and a tailored plaid robe for Hannukah. I always try to gift people things that they wouldn't ordinarily buy for themselves, but will provide a marked improvement in their daily life. He gave me the KitchenAid pasta roller and cutter set - so awesome!!

I'm hoping to still find a pair of boat shoes for him because our new dog ate his, but I have had a hard time finding an affordable option in size 14.5. If anyone can help me on that, I'd be so grateful!

Also, we are making candy for everyone else in our social circle. So I've created a fun little Excel sheet to divvy up the costs according to how many servings we each make for people on "our" side of the aisle (can't think of a better euphemism, sorry!) and we'll be making them this weekend. The rundown:

Ghost Chili-Infused Salt
Espresso & Pepper Salt Rub
Pineapple & Ghost Chili Hot Sauce
Cheesecake Bark
Bacon Brittle
Fig Bon Bons
Chocolate-Dipped Beer Marshmallows
Birthday Cake Marshmallows (my favorite flavor of ice cream!)

As far as stress goes, he has plenty of it right now! He's been running an experiment that he'll be presenting to his colleagues this Spring. I don't totally understand his work, but he's trying to do something that is currently thought to be impossible, and it will greatly affect his future work. I surely can't imagine the true significance or difficulty of what he's doing so I'm just trying my best to be supportive.

Making home a sanctuary is Priority #1. No talk about disappointments or stresses - just R&R. Have been lighting the fireplace every night, making tea, taking long showers together with incense and wine. Making sure I have his towel warm and waiting for him when he's done showering in the morning, bringing coffee to him in bed, etc. Small stuff like that seems to matter to him the most.

We also recently found a lovely diner (greasy spoon type) that is close to his work, so we've been meeting for lunch once a week. During that time, I try to not talk about myself or anything other than good news and provide him with a soft spot to land briefly mid-day. He seems to be a lot happier the rest of the day afterward so I hope we will continue doing this.

So my birthday is the 24th...yes I'm a Christmas baby... yes I got gypped... yes I love it. :)

I just started dating a guy but he wants to take me out for my birthday to celebrate and watch a movie I'm really excited about (The Revenant). So because he is being so sweet I am going to get him a Red Sox shirt. I have season tickets and want to experience a game with him so I think it would be a good way to subtly let him know that I want to keep him around for a bit. I'll probably make him a nice breakfast before he goes and picks up his kids for the weekend and I go to see my niece and nephews on the 25th.

We're moving over the holidays, so I doubt we'll do much, which is a bummer because I wanted to bake a billion cookies and decorate the house. I love Christmas. I'm getting him a couple small gifts and might try to make a good Christmas meal. I'm not Christian, so if anyone has any suggestions for anything traditional but good for two people (so not a whole ham or prime rib) I'd be excited to hear of them!

Gifts: I made my boyfriend a beer advent calendar this year. He is really into the craft beer scene, and this way he'll be able to try 25 new beers! I'm giving it to him tonight and absolutely cannot wait.

Food: I'll be making a bunch of different Christmas cookies with my mom sometime next week and plan on giving him a ton! I also want to try homemade hot chocolate this year. Anyone have any good recipes?

Decorations: Next time I'm at his apartment we are going to hang Christmas lights up in his living room, and I'll probably head to the store and get some other decorations too. He likes decorations, but doesn't want anything to "girly" so I'm still trying to think up ideas!

Misc: I'm also taking care of all the Christmas cards for his friends and family and helping him come up with some good gift ideas for them as well.

Trying to contain my Christmas obsessions because he worked in retail for so long that all the music and sparkly decorations just stress him out more! Lol.

However, since I love giving gifts and start my shopping in summer, I take care of everything for both of our (large) families, which he loves, otherwise he would just be going on Christmas eve to get video games for everyone lol. I also try to give him simple options for what to get me so that he doesn't have to stress about that. Managing my own expectations is an important part of this -- I saw my mom upset at my dad's (thoughtful but often weird) presents for too many Christmases to let my expectations of gifts get in the way of enjoying whatever he's thought I would like :)

We're probably the boringest Christmas couple ever, but I'll go ahead and share in case it helps anyone else lol :P My husband and I both have particular things we like to receive as gifts (him techy stuff, me clothes). We are also both picky so we just agree upon a budget and select our own gifts. It works out perfectly for us because we get exactly what we want every year! I do feel it is important to note that neither one of our love languages is gift, so this might not work for someone with that love language.

I'm so incredibly blessed that my boyfriend is flying 2,700 miles to be with me for Christmas break. I'm just so giddy thinking about it. We're going to be in an LDR until April 2016 unfortunately, so these week-long visits mean the world to me.

But I digress. I got him an Invictus watch, the one that looks like the Rolex Submariner. He loves watches, although he only has a few. I hope he really likes it and wears it often.

I plan on buying all the ingredients for his favourite foods a few days before he flies in, so we can cook together. I'm also going to bake up a storm--pies, cakes, cookies. I just want him to be happily well-fed.

He's never been to my city before, so I'm taking him to all the beautiful sights. The mountains. The ocean. All the special Christmas events, like ice-skating downtown, the German Christmas market, and the suspension bridge high up in the mountains decorated with Christmas lights. From there, we'll be able to see the world's largest living Christmas tree.

Only a few more weeks.

As for gifts: I got him a very nice straight razor set and some lovely scented soap and aftershave to with that. He is a Christmas baby too, so I got him a handmade leather sling for the rifle his grandfather gave him last year. I think he will love it! I also want to pick up some lingerie that he would like, but I have to watch my budget.

We are having a small get together with some of our friends and their husbands before Christmas weekend. I plan on cooking dinner and then us ladies are going to do a whole mess of holiday baking while the boys drink beer and have a bonfire. The husbands are all celebrating birthdays within a week of Christmas, so us girls are going to spoil them rotten during our party and they have no idea!

Then it will off for the holiday whirlwind that is Christmas in two countries!

Took the gun idea and ran with it, now we're going to the range. Also purchased grass fed steaks and went to JCPenny to get some nice pictures done. Some for him and another holiday themed for my parents.

This year we agreed not to do gifts since we are doing a vacation together a few days before Christmas, so I plan to buy him a pair of sunglasses I know he wants as a just because gift so he can wear them on vacation. In terms of food, his grandma recently passed away so I will be making some of her recipes for the family for the holidays. I'm hoping it will bring a little joy to everyone's first Christmas without her.

Right now, I am not sure. I have had a few ideas, but by Christmas we will have only been together for 2 months. I dont know how much to spend on him since the relationship is still so new. The other day, we walked around a store together and he stopped to look at different things (his way of telling me?). He has been needing sandals and more jackets, and he liked the power drills they had. I am not sure :/ So any advice would be much apprexiated(:

Gifts: We're on the home stretch towards the wedding, so I've only managed to budget a decent, well-fitted sweater for him, but I did help one of his friends pick out a model tank for him to build, since I know his favorites.

Food: Cookies! I always make 5-6 different kinds of cookies and he loves them. Also, getting out of the way so he can try a bunch of recipes he's had no time for with school. I think he might spend more time in the kitchen than I will, he loves cooking.

Other: Redirecting some of the tasks that family try to recruit him for onto myself, so he can unwind after a very taxing semester. I won't be able to do all of it (like heavy-lifting stuff), but I'll take on jobs wherever I can without burning out.

He hates surprises, so we are likely going to plan a weekend getaway around new year's. Think swanky rustic setting, farm to table food, a spa, and a big fireplace to read around.

I may get him a pair of nice headphones. His busted and he's reluctant to buy a new pair; he's aggressively into not spending $ unless it's necessary.

If I buy and wrap him clothes, he'll love the unwrapping process, but ultimately he knows clothes are for me, I like him looking good.

I'm making sure to make him a big breakfast every Thursday, as it's his first day off of work every week. Free range eggs & pork sausage and a g-free toaster waffle with grassfed butter and blackberry preserves. And coffee, of course :)

A close friend of mine knit me a super-warm scarf in my Hogwarts house colors; I ordered another one from her in my partner's House colors. Cute but practical.

He's still in university so I'll also be baking him pumpkin bread in a week or so to de-stress from finals.

EDIT: if you're interested in 'general holiday ideas for your partner', me and mine are having a hot chocolate date. We're going shopping for ingredients, sprinkles, spices, marshmallows, etc, then brewing for each other and sharing them over some creative writing projects we've been working on.

I'm trying to come up with something to either make him or buy him. I got him a t shirt from my college (inside joke between us since he's always buying me things from his college to wear) and a set of REALLY nice pajamas since he only has two sets right now and loves them to death.

I would like to get him something else that's kind of a bigger gift, but I'm a little stumped. Last year I knit him slippers, painted him two portraits (one of his dog, one of his favorite video game character) and got him tickets to the CFB hall of fame.

I was thinking either a really nice kitchen knife because he loves to cook so much or chipping in on a bike for him with my parents.

I think it's important to know what kind of gifts your SO likes. J likes fun and silly gifts - things he doesn't need but would love to have. Gifts that are more hands-on and bring out the geeky kid in him. I will often throw in a few useful things that he's been meaning to buy. I stay away from electronics because he prefers to pick those out himself.

My husband and I tend to buy gifts together, and we usually buy an expensive item for the house that we can both use. This year on Black Friday we bought a PS4, so I'm going to try and find him a game he will like and maybe a second controller.

As for food, we're leaving the night before Christmas to drive to his brother-in-laws for his family get together, so we're going to pickle some veggies and eggs for his family.

Besides that, we already have the tree up, presents bought, going to wrap them together and get everything set ahead of time to go.

One of the best gifts I got him was a 100% cashmere robe! He wears it every day in the winter. Found it at Restoration Hardware for only $150ish but I think they've gotten much more expensive now. He eventually found one to gift for me too and it's the best thing ever.

Gifts: my hubby is going to buy his big gift himself as its a TV and Xbox and he wants to get it on Boxing Day. But I'm giving him "The twelve lays of Christmas" where I do something sexy each day that's slightly different. Food: I'm baking Christmas cookies and candy for him to bring into work and for the children's lunches and teachers. It always goes over well with his boss and coworkers. I'll also be hosting Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners with a full turkey dinner one day and roast beef the next.

Decor: I've decorated the whole house and have been trying to keep it extra clean for those holiday drop ins. My husband and family love Christmas so we have 2 trees and even our bathrooms are decorated with festive towels and Christmas decor.

Other: I've done all the present shopping so my hubby doesn't have to worry about the rush and will wrap it all too. He works hard for us so I try to do the best where I can.
