Obama administration is bullying universities into reporting more rapes. Will not visit universities that don't report enough rapes. Shouldn't they REWARD universities that have fewer or no rapes?

Why are universities addressing what is a crime? This is a police issue.

[–]fengpi 148 points149 points150 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Because police would require actual evidence?

[–]25russianbear25 76 points77 points78 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Because regret sex and both-parties-being-drunk sex isnt rape too...

[–][deleted] 55 points56 points57 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

This is what irks me. Even if we decided that "regret sex" was immoral and should be made illegal, why would we lump it with "rape"? It doesn't make people take it more seriously, it just trivializes violent rapes which SHOULD carry a harsher punishment.

When someone says "I was raped" I don't know if they mean they were pulled into an alley and violently assaulted, or if some drunk guy brushed their boob at a party when they weren't looking.

[–]stemgang 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

"regret sex" was immoral and should be made illegal

Erm, what do you mean here? That the "regret sex" involves a violation on the part of the false accuser? Or a violation on the part of the innocent who had no way of knowing his actions would later be recategorized as unwelcomed?

[–]cameronlcowan 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Regret sex is a real thing. I've been in that situation. I think we should have emotional and psychological support for young people after that type of thing but it should never be called rape. I think a nice group where everyone can talk about making better decisions could be better. We're so misguided at 18-22 years old, just having a chance to be honest about your feelings could make a huge difference.

[–]stemgang 28 points29 points30 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Regret happens, and people need support.

What I object to is twisting regret into rape, and accusing a person of a crime that never occurred.

[–]cameronlcowan 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with you and I think if we can steer the conversation in that direction we can provide the necessary support without trying to use the broad brush of rape on every sexual encounter.

[–]mwobuddy 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Regret happens, and people need support.

No one needs support for regretting it.

I bought candy at the movie counter instead of popcorn and I regret it. I need emotional support!

Fuck right off.

Here's your support. Grow the fuck up. You did something you wanted in the moment, and now you regret it for made up reasons.

[–]cameronlcowan 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And I think they can grow up if they have somewhere to openly talk about it and learn from their mistakes. We don't have to just tell them to grow the fuck up. We can and should do better.

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you're right. at 20 isn't enough. We should be doing it at 30. At 40. At 50. Hell, even at 60 if the man can get it up and stick it in that cheese sandwich of a vagina, if the man or woman regrets it and feels bad about it, we should definitely sit around and talk about their feelings and how they are a victim.

[–]fuzzypyrocat 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No no no no no. If she regrets it at any point ever you've raped her. She just didn't know it yet

They should have campus fire departments. If a building's on fire, they will have an official hearing about it, with an option to appeal the fire, and expel a few students nearby.

Sure, lots of buildings will burn down and such, but we would prefer to keep this as a college issue.

[–]fengpi 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

We need to broaden the definition of "murder" to include assaults which don't actually kill anyone, in addition to the killing of people who never existed. Why should you need to be dead or alive to get considered a murder victim? /s

Where do I start with stats? Here's an article to get you started: http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/no-1-in-5-women-have-not-been-raped-on-college-campuses/article/2551980

Rape has been dropping steadily since the early '90s. There are 22 incidents per 100,000 people per year. College women are LESS likely to be raped than their peers who don't go to college.

I can dig up more links if you want, but that article gives you a few.

[–]tmone 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

thanks, brotha.

[–]Stealth_Jesus 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're less likely to he raped because college campuses generally aren't low-income, crime-infested areas. But I agree with the rest of your post.

[–]fengpi 76 points77 points78 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No reported rapes means that millions of rapes are going on.

A handful of reported rapes are but the tip of the iceberg.

The logic is airtight.

The funny thing is you can examine the reasoning to turn it on its head.

At my school there were 8 reported cases of sexual assault in the last 3 years or 2.67 a year.

It was more engineering focused so it was majority male, with 38% female with an undergrad population of about 13,000.

So assuming all the victims were female and there are no cases of false accusations or mistaken identity, we can use a moving average of rape victims over 5 years. If 2.67 are reportedly victimized every year, that's 13.3 every 5 years, and there are 4940 women attending any given year.

13.3/4940=0.27%. Now obviously this is just reported cases, but how many cases would have to be unreported to have the 1 in 5 stat be true?

20% of 4940=988.

988-13.3=974.7.

974.7/988=98.6% would have to be not reported.

That is a non report rate so high as to the indistinguishable from not having any rapes at all.

General crime trends suggest that you have one heck of an under reporting problem.

You appear to be confusing sexual assault with rape

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

General crime trends suggest that you have one heck of an under reporting problem.

You seem to have overlooked the second part of my analysis. Also given how drastic the variability is among colleges it's unreasonable to expect most to be close to the average.

Maybe it is underreported, but not to such a degree as to have a 98+% non report rate.

You appear to be confusing sexual assault with rape

Sexual crimes include both. Rape is less common than sexual assault as well, and such statistics also include mere threats of it.

[–]Clockw0rk 31 points32 points33 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ah, the good ol' "if you repeat a lie enough" rule.

"peer reviewed 1 in 5 study", you mean the same one that multiple peers have called absolute bullshit and was not reproducible by Stanford (which the president is pictured in front of)?

I had class with a male in high school who was talking about how he found out from his peers that a female had sex with him while he was passed/black[?] out drunk on the couch during a party. I told him "dude, that's rape" and we all laughed it off. His face showed a moment of realization. I said something about making sure she he doesn't get charged with child support in the future and haven't seen him since the class.

[–]mwobuddy 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men cant be raped because sex is about men using women for it and rape is about men stealing virginity from women /s

sexual assault hook-up

Most sexual assaults are are not "hook-up" related. You classic sexual assault is being groped by a stranger in a nightclub.

In my opinion this is a grab for political favoritism. You need the support and favor of the female vote in a lot of cases to get into office or to make your stay look good. At the least you can't take a chance on not getting their vote

[–]lowsodiummonkey 35 points36 points37 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This is like MADD rewarding officers who have the most DUI arrests. It really corrupts the system by having those doing the reporting bend the rules. Officers can pretty much slap a DUI on anyone with little evidence and do so to get rewards (usually to the determent to minorities). The University system now has adequate reasoning to ruin young men's lives with little to no evidence. And in the case also effecting the minority.

[–]IronCanTaco 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How can they slap you with a DUI if you're sober?

[–]lowsodiummonkey 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

An officer can pretty slap anyone with a DUI using any excuse. All they have to do is say you stuttered or your eyes were dilated or anything. Then it comes down to you fighting it in court... if you have the time and what not. There a plenty of instances of officers giving DUIs to people coming from the dentist (Novocain) or the eye doctor.

[–]IronCanTaco 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

AFAIK, if they charge you with something like this they have to take your blood or give you a breathalyser test . I'm not in the US, so I don't know how it works there, but it sure does work like this in my country.

Which means that it'll be an inconvenience, but you'll prove them wrong.

[–]theAnalepticAlzabo -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The same way they can charge you with rape after having sex with a consenting girl

[–]IronCanTaco 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a little more complicated, but even so - they still have to prove you did it. And I don't see how they can prove DUI without you having alcohol in your blood.

Why punish the students when rape victims go to the real police instead of to the university?

I'll give you this last reply before properly giving up.

The interesting question is why were you subbed in the first place?

Because I'm a men's rights activist.

I perused your post history for about 1 minute and saw you hit all the SJW talking points.

That says more about what you were looking for than what there was to find. Most of my recent posts have been about linguistics, Brexit, and Game of Thrones.

You're a transexual

There are two s in that. One at the end of trans and one at the beginning of sexual. That's how to remember it.

Also, it's telling that you think that personal characteristics like that must determine whether you can be for or against a given political issue.

socialist

Again, it's more telling that you think that that has some connection to men's rights. I suppose you just use it as a buzzword insult, which shows the hole this subreddit has gone down.

obsessed with how you present your words

Well, it's important to be precise.

("don't call me a transexual, I'm a womyn")

I've never used that feminist spelling in my life, of course. You're using it as a strawman.

Also, the post you paraphrased that from was on r/rightwingLGBT, which is specifically against SJW stuff. My comment was in the context of condemning the multiple-gender fad. SJWs would be horrified by my discourse there.

You're entirely dependent on the state and social conditioning.

It's difficult to discern what that's even supposed to mean. I guess it's just a mouth-frothing expression of rightwing paranoia of some sort. I suppose it could just as easily been some sort of word soup with "tyranny" in it. It certainly isn't true in some sort of literal sense, as I work for a living rather than being on benefits or something, but it was probably meant in some more esoteric sense.

No doubt your victim score is elevated from your choices

Seems to be more buzzwords. Feminists like victims, so you've got to call me a victim. Something like that. Not sure what choices are alluded to. I haven't really had many in life, compared to some. Maybe it's a reference to one of those amusing privilege quizzes, but I don't think I've posted my results to reddit. See how I have to flail around for some clue as to what you might be raving about?

I didn't stick around in your post history very long before I started to feel dumb.

Well, yeah. You may be young though. There's still hope for you if you continue reading, educating yourself, and gaining life experience.

experiment?

That's novel. Nope, I've never been called an experiment, by myself or others. I guess that was supposed to be a burn or something.

Is an opposing view that victimizing to you?

Yeah, buzzwords again. Try to think in terms of facts and real issues.

I've long followed this sub, because interesting news is posted to it, but I think it's going downhill, sinking into nuttiness, like feminist spaces. The above comment was an all-too-typical example of that. The reported policy of the Obama administration is horribly wrongheaded, but it's obviously not due to not caring about female rape victims. That's silly. It's to do with feminist ideology, bad strategy, and trying to get votes. But the idea that it's for control for its own sake is purely insane. The comment coupled it with other issues like gun regulation. Really, the idea that all of us ordinary people who are horrified by Americans blowing each other's brains out are actually lying, and instead are happy to see brains blown out, but just want to use it to further the objective of mind control for the sake of it... is again pure madness. It is literally a sign of mental illness to think something so paranoid.

This isn't supposed to be a rightwing nutjob subreddit. It's called mensrights, not handgunsforjesus. And yet batshit fruitcake comments like the one above get posted here, and upvoted. Just like I can't frequent feminist spaces just because I support women's rights (because they are full of insane man-haters who reflexively follow every lefty talking point), I can't frequent this sort of masculist space just because I support men's rights (because it seems to have been captured by deranged Trumpists stockpiling ammo in case Obama and other Kenyans come to take their Bibles).

The funny thing is that in some spaces, I am instantly considered discredited for having posted men's rights content here and elsewhere. Even posting critical stuff here is enough to make me an evil rapey MRA in many people's minds.

I can in good conscience continue to use Patreon to support good work by the likes of NoelPlum and Karen Straughan, but this subreddit has just gone too far downhill. There's a line, and /r/theredpill and /r/mensrights are on one side of it, and sane egalitarian activism is on the other.

[–]BookOfGQuan -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think you're reading into the comment arguments that really aren't being made. Nothing in that comment is particularly nutty; it merely deconstructs the motives of the political classes. You repeat the commentator's points while claiming to refute them - "trying to get votes" as a motive; yes, that's pretty much what he's saying, that it's about cynical politics and not actual issues, it engages not with facts but with politically useful narratives - and then you seize upon minor points of his overall argument to construct an image of something that very much isn't present. You're seeing shapes in clouds and coalescing them into an image of something you're opposed to, dare I say a giant strawman. I have no idea how you would read this critique of modern culture and decide that it's about "Obama coming to take people's bibles". I mean, he mentioned the gun control issue once. Once, amid a variety of other cultural talking points that are divisive, including a broad "left/right". It's not even possible to determine where the commentator stands on that issue, only that he offers it as an example of an area in which politics has crafted narratives. Yet somehow you've made this an integral, central concern of his argument?

[–]chaun2 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I agree on almost all points. I'm afraid that our jobs are gone for good. Human labor/thought is getting to the point that robots are cheaper in every field. The administration needs to realize this and prevent the coming class wars. I'm convinced that ending the failed F35 fighter project, and allowing the miltary to phase out obsolete equipment (looking at you A10) would save the country more than twice what we would need for mandatory minimum income. Then the people who want jobs will get them and I can stop working with lazy asshats that don't even try to do their job right.

[–]scyth3s 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I'm on board with canceling the F-35, as it's a money whore project. The A-10, however, is the cheapest jet to fly in the air force inventory. Its budget isn't even a sliver of the pie.

[–]chaun2 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I was under the impression that just repairing the A-10 was costing us more than actually flying it. Perhaps I was wrong about that.

[–]scyth3s 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I work on A-10s for my day job. Of the old gen jets (A10, F15, F16) it breaks the last and costs the least to repair. I've worked 15s and many people at my unit worked F16s prior.

We all love A10s because we do less work.

[–]chaun2 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Good to know. All the stuff I've seen recently were articles that basically said the USAF wanted to get rid of the A-10, but congress was telling them no

[–]scyth3s 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That's true. John McCain is/was the leading proponent of it, because he likes guard/reserve jobs in his state.

Right idea, wrong reason.

[–]chaun2 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Ahhhh, I see. But if it is one of our most reliable planes, why would USAF want to send them all to Arizona to be mothballed?

[–]scyth3s 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was designed by an organization that no longer exists, and that can no longer pay lobbying fees our offer contractor jobs to retired generals.

[–]geniice 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its tactical remit is becoming more limited by the day, the money could be used for other other things. If reliability was all that mattered then the USAF could always use Cessnas.

The A-10 isn't a bad plane but the USAF wants something better and wants to simplify its supply chain. If it can actually manage this is a secondary question

[–]klingma 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But what will we get that goes brrtrrrrtbrrttt?

[–]thefilthyhermit 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fighter mafia at work at HQ USAF level. The A-10 is not fast and sexy. The pilots have to talk to soldiers and fly too low.

So I do believe that these universities have a vested interest in under reporting the number of rapes or obscuring the crime statistics and that something should be done about it. Just like they would if there was a higher number of muggings that occur on a campus. So I do disagree with the subbys point here. But all rapes claims should be dealt with by the actual police and not the campus police.

When victimhood is your currency, it doesn't ever matter that actual people will get hurt, just that you keep getting more currency.

There shouldn't be a reward on either end of the spectrum. Rewarding reporting more rapes will force false positives and rewarding having fewer rapes will promote cover-ups

[–]Popeychops 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Shouldn't they REWARD universities that have fewer or no rapes?

No, absolutely not, that would encourage universities to race to the bottom while sweeping real victims under the carpet. Universities shouldn't be rewarded for attempting to adjudicate criminal matters at all.

[–]Temperfuelmma 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Which is exactly what they should do because a crime like rape should be reported to the police not professor big belly Bob.

I want to know what universities are doing to combat ISIS. Since that sort of thing is their job now, rather than education.

There should not be an "award" for universities when it comes to rape! It creates problems.

Report more rapes for an reward; make everything rape

Report less rapes for an reward; sweep them under the rug.

I dunno, Barack Obama not visiting my university sounds like a reward to me.

I was thinking the same thing, but the truth is - there is a very small number of people who buy into this rape culture and feminism shit. But they have an advantage of being vocal and people film them and put on the internet. You don't see people on YouTube shamed for having a rational opinion.

Eilperin notes the Department of Education currently has 253 ongoing investigations into the handling of sexual assault, nearly fives times the amount underway just two years ago.

So, investigations are up 500% and they are threatening schools with taking federal funding away from schools that don't show an increase in investigations?

What is the motivation here? Two years, 500%. I know there is an agenda, I just can't really see how it helps those in power...

On the bright side, it makes it easier to choose which schools to send our sons. President/politicians visiting that school? Best to shy away from that one.

[–]typhonblue 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why would you send your son to one of these fucked up institutions that are going to treat him like an enemy combatant?

[–]StopTop 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was trying to say that the schools that the politicians are visiting are less safe for young men, due to the government incentive to rack up sexual assault report numbers.

Therefore, send your son to one that politicians refuse to visit.

A crime as serious as rape should be reported to the police. The Obama administration by encouraging universities to handle rape cases are discouraging rape victims to go forward to the police and get appropriate punishment for rapists and deserving justice for victims.

Obama administration is actively engaging in: Promoting rape and saving rapists by encouraging universities to punish them with the lowest penalty and discouraging police officials to take rapists to the courts and get them deserving punishment(including jail time).

You know, there should be a protest to the University system. Maybe, no women in university until the rape epidemic is under control, or remove funds for sports into extra security. Crack down on parties. Close fraternities. Hire heavy security to make sure women are kept at a great distance from men so rape can be avoided. Let's segregate the schools on gender too, just to be sure. I'm sure we can get the rape count down to zero with such policies if people protest hard enough.

I might be a madman here, but don't you guys think that just maybe when they look at how many rapes a campus gets, and that number doesn't go DOWN, then they veto it.

"poor job tackling the troubling frequency of reported sexual assaults" So in essence doesn't that mean if the campus lowers the number regardless of the personal baseline they would be doing good. So basically handling and preventing rape charges (false of otherwise) would be what they are looking at.

One of the biggist ways of lowering that number is making sure they are reported (although that's more in the hands of the victim) Making sure issue students can't reoffend (either by being a rapist or someone who lied about being raped)

That just makes a lot more sense doesn't it?

[–]AtticusFrenchToast 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, that's not how it's going to work. Victims' rights groups have celebrated an increase in numbers because they see it as reporting going up, not the number of rapes going up. Conversely, they'll assume if numbers go down it's because victims are too afraid to speak up, not necessarily because there are fewer rapes.

[–]bufedad 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If they aren't happening in the first place, then there is nothing to report.

The administration is operating on the assumption that every campus has a serious unreported rape problem, and any institution that isn't reporting lots of rapes, is just ignoring the problem.

If those rapes aren't really happening, this is forcing the institution to report everything as rape, to placate the administration.

[–]civilsaint[S] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If those rapes aren't really happening, this is forcing the institution to report everything as rape, to placate the administration.

And if rapes don't get reported, universities will have to hold 'rape re-education camps' to teach female students that they've been raped and encourage them to report so they can have 'better' numbers for the administration.

[–]civilsaint[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, it's tuned in just fine.

Maybe you've missed that most universities mandate sexual assault training seminars, where they teach affirmative consent nonsense, which essentially means all sex is rape. This has caused a rape culture hysteria where women are looking out to 'save' other women who they deem have been raped and take it upon themselves to report it. Just like the Red Scare.

It's not as much of a stretch as you are implying.

[–]StopTop 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Both are unnecessary.

You incentivize less "rape reports" cause it shows sexual assault cases diminishing, then universities will be hesitant to put things on the books and call sexual assault sexual assault.

You incentivize more "rape reports" as an increase in awareness, then universities are going to be eager to charge or go after potentially innocent accused persons.

This is why you let a University handle it's social climate, and the police handle real rape cases. And the presidential office handles larger issues like national security.

[–]IAmNotKind 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do agree with you that police should be the ones to handle this, but I can understand as a parent if you're paying thousands of dollars for your children to go to school, you damn well want to make sure the faculty do as much as possible to keep those young adults safe.

[–]cajunrevenge 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

These schools could save themselves a lot of trouble by instituting a policy of calling the police every time a rape is reported. Any and all complaints would be met with 1 blank statement "All criminal accusations are reported immediately to the proper authorities and we have and will assist their investigations in anyway possible and we respect the due process rights of everyone to have a fair trial. When and if any student is found to be guilty of any serious crime we will then take appropriate disciplinary actions. If you have any problem with the results of the investigation or the trial then I suggest you take it up with the police officers and prosecuters".

Also i hate to do this but if someone told me I had a 1 in 5 chance of being raped I would probably avoid heavy drinking and not attend parties where a lot of these "rapes" happen. That's just me though. Kind of like how I don't want to be robbed so in don't go walking around the hood at midnight.

[–]civilsaint[S] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You have a 1 in 100,000 chance of being the target of terrorism, and look how much people change their plans because of that.

Imagine if there really were a 1 in 5 chance of being raped at college.

[–]cajunrevenge 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

With the definition of rape these people use its more like 5 out of 5. Show me a person who got affirmative consent for every step of sexual activity in every sexual encounter and I will show you a liar.

[–]romulusnr -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The title of this post is wrong. It is not to do with "reporting more rapes" nor is it to do with "don't report enough rapes." It is to do with responding and reacting to such reports.

According to White House officials, top members of the administration — including the president, the vice president, their wives and members of the Cabinet — will not visit institutions whose leaders they consider insufficiently serious about pursuing sexual-assault allegations and punishing perpetrators.

[–]geniice -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Shouldn't they REWARD universities that have fewer or no rapes?

No. Statistically any university of a reasonable size is going to have students who are raped. If you have one with no reported rapes its time to do something about the local police force (because their crime detection skills are so poor).

"Fewer" again doesn't help you much due to variance in reporting and random factors.

What you should be looking at is the ratio between various types of offences and trends in levels of reports.

[–]civilsaint[S] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But universities have no control over whether people report to them.

This entire nonsense is based off of the ridiculous idea that 1 in 4 women are raped on campus, which is ABSURD.

If they were truly concerned about it, they would make sure that the university has protocols in place to deal with complaints, which should involve one step: Call the police.

This is nothing but political circus. As I said in another comment, this is like WMD. They are desperate to drive the numbers up to appease the extremist feminist groups so that they have 'evidence' of rape culture, even though the number of rapes has been in free fall since the early '90s.

No it isn't. The article is talking about Sexual Assault. Learn the difference.

The complainant and the accused both live in university halls and their rooms are next to each other. Are you really suggesting the university only call the police?

What if they are in the same tutor group?

[–]civilsaint[S] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article is talking about Sexual Assault. Learn the difference.

There is no longer a difference. Was the Stanford case 'rape' or 'sexual assault'? It depends on whom you ask. Why don't you keep up with modern trends in the bastardization of language surrounding sexual crimes?

Are you really suggesting the university only call the police?

Yes. And the reason is that if there is probable cause and the accused is arrested and makes bail, the judge will issue a stay away order, in which case the accused is legally required to keep his distance from the complainant.

So that right there solves the issue with the tutor group.
