"Just today we met with a supplier and the entire other side of the table was all Black females. That was interesting," Brewer said. "I decided not to talk about it directly with [the supplier's] folks in the room because there were actually no males, like, levels down. So I’m going to place a call to him."

Just changing white to black and male to female and it becomes racist?? I can just imagine that phone call if it was the other way round. 'hey supplier, Thanks for our goods but just a quick comment. I noticed your staff was full of blacks. We will have to review using you in the future until you hire more whites. Thanks. Bye'. Yeh, doesn't work does it.

"Just today we met with a collection of Hollywood studio bosses and the entire other side of the table was all Jews. That was interesting," Brewer said. "I decided not to talk about it directly with folks in the room because there were actually no gentiles, like, levels down. So I’m going to place a call to him."

Just today we met with a collection of child custody victors...

Just today we met with a collection of NBA players....

Just today we met with a collection of DMV workers....

[–]Revoran 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sorry I'm not sure I understand your point?

[–]Tebore 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not sure about the DMV workers (not American), but I think the point is that most child custody victors are women and most NBA players are black?

[–]Smaskifa 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think most DMV workers are immigrants. Maybe that's where they're going with the DMV one? I don't know.

That is the problem of the new left. They dont understand what racism is. Racism has nothing to do white white and black in themselves but to how we are bigoted to one and another due to race. The genocide in Rwanda was racist, even if both are black.

[–]GuyAboveIsStupid 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How was it racist? They weren't murdering people for being black I don't think

[–]DollarWill 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The genocide in Rwanda was between the Hutu tribe and the Tutsi tribe.

They were dispatching eachother because they were of different tribes, and solely because they were from different tribes.

THAT is racism. When one tribe of people turns against another because of in-group//out-group dynamics.

[–]User-31f64a4e 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly. It was tribal.
It was identity politics, but not about race.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Racism is tribalism. The only difference is labeling. Thats why racism isnt going away, because tribalism is encoded on the dna. It was an effective survival mechanism for millions of years.

[–]BurritoBite 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But they were murdering because of a small difference between them, one that shouldn't matter at all.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem always has been that the left are the most bigoted, racist segment of the nation. Its ingrained, and they are happy with it that way.

Yeah but they'll let that one person do all the work while they move the other person who doesn't up the chain. I've worked plenty of places where a male did all the work and females move up the chain when they didn't do anything.

It isn't just women, I have seen this over and over again. There will be "favorites" that do not do shit, sit around and talk all day, but get away with it because they are friends with management. Yet you will see a few actual workers doing their actual jobs that management comes down hard on who are not only doing their own job, but also the jobs of the ones not doing anything. Guess which one moves up the corporate ladder?

Here is a quick way to identify the workers and the non workers. The non workers get the early morning shifts where they can goof off, then the actual workers get the afternoon and night shifts where they end up doing all the work that did not get done by the morning crew along with their own work. It is bullshit.

[–]OvalNinja 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Diversity should be a byproduct of hiring the best person for the job without caring about his or her race or gender.

Well, in the university system it means Asians too.

[–]atred 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It means discriminating against people who are better qualified.

[–]Kestyr 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

STEM and Medical industries as well. Diversity in those contexts means more Black's rather than other races, as there's a fair amount of non black minorities in those positions already.

[–]wiseprogressivethink 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True.

[–]Keiichi81 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The word "diverse" is just a synonym for "not white" to the far left. For example, an office that was 80% black and 20% other would be considered "diverse". The amount of "diversity" you have is inversely proportional to the number of white people on your staff. 100% not white is the maximum amount of "diversity" you can have.

You would never hear anyone on the left criticize a workplace for lack of diversity because white people were a significant minority, or even if white people weren't represented at all. Because they don't care about diversity or equality, they want supremacy.

[–]Leinadro 95 points96 points97 points 10 years ago (54 children) | Copy Link

See this is what happens when socia justice goes too far.

Have we really gotten to the point where its safe to assume that a having a group from a supplier be all white guys means there is sexism/racism afoot?

I wouldnt say she is racist (despite the fact that if reversed a white guy would be called racist) but rather she is wrong to feel a need to call the supplier to fo over this.

Sounds like she wants to pat herself on the back for a "call out".

But thus does answer one question though. The goal isnt equal opportunity, its equal results. That is the only way you can go from seeing an all white male group to making conclusions about a company's overall staff.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's discriminating based on someone's race of course she's racist.

[–]Fractoman 37 points38 points39 points 10 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

If you say something that is racist, it's racist. I don't care if we give more leeway to people who're POC, we shouldn't. Everyone should be held to the same standard, that's called equality.

But it isn't racist. The comment doesn't denote that one race is superior or different than other races.

That's not the SJW definition of racism, and if she's going to be all SJ then she lives or dies by that definition. The definition is: prejudice + power = racism.

Well who has the power in that relationship? The CEO of your primary customer?

big·ot ˈbiɡət/ noun a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.

rac·ist ˈrāsəst/ noun 1. a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another.

Whether or not this woman believes that she's racially superior to white males, she still believes that those men should not hold that position as a direct result of their race. As a result she's discriminating against a group of people based solely upon their skin color and not the quality of their character or their capacity to complete their job. This is called racism. It's the same as if I was offended if a position or positions were only filled by a particular racial subset and none other.

She takes it one step further by assumedly pressuring her supplier by using her position as a CEO to either have these men fired or to remove their business as a supplier for her corporation (which might cause their employer to have to downsize as a result of loss of business causing them to lose their jobs), this is institutional racism. It's no different than any other person in an authority position placing judgement upon a group of people based upon their race. If she wasn't a racist then she wouldn't care that these white males were working in those positions. The only instance in which there might've been a need to address any "diversity" concerns is if there was institutional racism involving the hiring practices of the supplier that yielded a homogeneous racial hiring practice.

Would she have said what she did if everyone there was black? What about if they were all Korean? Indian? Hispanic? What is it about being Caucasian male and being less than? It's getting harder and harder to believe that POC are in need of reparations and acknowledgement in the workforce when a black female CEO is making sweeping employment decisions based upon the determination that a certain workforce is filled with too much of a particular racial subset. Does that not smack of racism? Does that not mean that the individuals that you're referencing in this position are lacking something that you think either you own or some other race would exemplify, be superior at even? Why is it that race is even a question in this context?

It's not like it would be politically correct for a Caucasian CEO to go out and pressure one of their subsidiaries to fire a workforce because they're too Black. The individual would be shouted down from the tops of the SJW Social Media mountains, most likely forced to resign, and forever be branded a Racist AND a Bigot. Why is this woman exempt from the same designation? Because she's a POC? Why does her opinion of racial motivation matter more than another person's? Why do we always have to treat POC as if the entire group is exempt from racial bias? It's not like hate has a skin color. It's possible for every race of people to be Racist, because we're all the same. Every person has the capacity for discrimination and bigotry, this is not an in-borne, by default trait that's genetic, it's an aspect of the entire species of man and has gone on for as long as we have been able to define "us" and "them".

Anecdotally I've met some of the most vehemently racist individuals who weren't white. I've met Korean mothers who hated their daughter's husband because he was white. I've known white dudes who got beaten up by a group of black guys while he and his black girlfriend were out at a concert. I've known a black guy from Nigeria who was incredibly discriminatory against Hispanics, categorizing them all as "lazy" and "stupid". I've been personally mocked for using "white words" like niche in passing conversation. I've had friends get bullied because they were black and liked Metal and Punk rock, and dressed "like a white dude". It's not even like these mentalities in the Black community are new either, in fact if anything they've gotten more pronounced over the years.

Black people in the 60's called Jimi Hendrix an "Uncle Tom" and a "Nigger" because he dared to make rock music when the rest of his "race" decided to start making other kinds of music, leaving the rock scene for the "whities". They mocked his band (two white guys from the UK) and detested seeing him surrounded by blonde white women. They viewed him as a race traitor and to this day he's never received the admiration he deserved from his racial peers. Go out, ask a guy who listens to mostly rap if he's ever heard of Jimi Hendrix, I'd bet $5 he hasn't. Now that's racism. When you hate by proxy, that's detestable.

Every race has the capacity to hate, to discriminate, to be a bigot, to be racist. Every red blooded person walking the face of this earth including Rosalind Brewer. We must be inclusive and loving of all, and accept everyone for who they are as an individual and a person who has love in their heart and to never try and see the worst in them, but the things that makes them a good, virtuous person.

"We must love our white brothers, no matter what they do to us. We must make them know that we love them. Jesus still cries out in words that echo across the centuries: "Love your enemies; bless them that curse you; pray for them that despitefully use you." This is what we must live by. We must meet hate with love. Remember, if I am stopped, this movement will not stop, because God is with the movement. Go home with this glowing faith and this radiant assurance."

Martin Luther King Jr.'s words after a bomb was thrown into his house in Alabama, on 30 January 1956

For what it's worth, I agree with you. I've never agreed with the way people call every statement involving race racist. I think adopting sjw-ish thinking and terminology is a poor way to go. By all means point out the hypocrisy that they'd consider a similar statement about a different race as racist, but don't adopt their muddled thinking.

[–]Jamesshrugged 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I don't think that superiority is essential to the definition of racism. To me racism is making an evaluation of a person on the basis of race.

I'm afraid you are incorrect though.

"Blacks are dumb" (and "whites are dumb") is absolutely considered racism.

Bigotry would be "southerners are dumb" or "Christians are dumb".

Racism is when bigotry and race collide.

considered

[–]Stephen1985 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Especially in a country where white males account for the lions share of the work force.

[–]temp91 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

According to the bureau of labor statistics, women make up 29% of wholesale sales jobs in 2014. Minorities make up 18%. So on average, having 4 out of 4 white males show up for a sales pitch to Walmart is statistically unusual. [Link] (www.bls.gov/cps/cpsaat11.htm)

It might not be unusual for a white male dominated vendor like hunting equipment or something, so we can't say for sure. We can say that a sales team is incompetent for not having the foresight to send the female and/or minority members of their team to a meeting with one of the few black female CEOs of a fortune 50 company. Nobody expects sales to be the sharpest knives in the drawer, but this is just an obvious tactic.

[–]Ovendice 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link

It's simple: White men are simply harder working, ambitious and just have it more together than anyone else. And usually more intelligent. Would it really be so awful if we just went ahead and admitted it? After all, it's the truth and everyone knows it.

[–]Gnometard 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

that's like saying all black men are in the NBA. they're not. but of the NBA, what race are most of the best players?

[–]erydan 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They're black of course, just like the starting line-up at the 100m dash in every olympics.

However strongmen competitions are dominated by whites. Usually a scandinavian or eastern european giant freak.

Funny that high level competitive sport is practically segregated. It's almost as if there was genetic factors in play. But no, how silly of me, we're all equal humans and black players in the NBA are there because of social constructs.

[–]Hamakua 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Partly but not mostly - I'm on the same page as you all but social constructs absolutely contribute to at least a proportion of the racial makeup of sports teams.

Basketball is a popular sport in urban environments especially because it can be played within a relatively small area.

Sports like baseball and hockey need either specialized equipment or environments or much larger areas. There is also the regional popularity of a given sport vs. the demographic of that region.

It's not cut and dry but I upvoted you.

-yes, at the very highest end of the bell curve like the Olympics you definitely get the "genetic truth", but I'd say college and pro basketball is much lower than the Olympic level filter (but not basketball in the Olympics though).

I don't know enough about American Football to make a connection one way or the other.

[–]whoaitsbrian 12 points13 points14 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This really sounds racist. Just because someone is white or black, male or female, tall or short, comes from a rich or poor background, or is currently in a rich or poor surrounding, that doesn't define who they are as a person. That mentality is what brought me towards 'Men's rights' as opposed to Feminism, but what you said here is why it's hard to actually be associated with it.

[–]Gnometard 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Actually, every single one of those metrics goes into creating the person you are. Change ANY one of those metrics to something else, you would be a different person

[–]whoaitsbrian 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You are correct. Change 'tall' to 'short' and it creates a different person. However, I said 'define' not 'create'. While it can be the basis, someone's height/race/gender/etc doesn't define who someone is. Someone can be black and be a harder worker than a white guy. The other way around can be true as well, it just depends on the person. It's the person behind the features that matters more than the features.

[–]kylemon10 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who you have been created to be is part of what defines you. Being short will make you see the world differently than a tall person. The rest of the world will treat you differently than a tall person. These differences in experiences are part of what defines us.

[–]BigOldNerd 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly

[–]Ovendice 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just because someone is white or black, male or female, tall or short, comes from a rich or poor background, or is currently in a rich or poor surrounding, that doesn't define who they are as a person

Not according to blacks, women and Hispanics. ALL they talk about is how they are different and need special advantages. You're not paying attention.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

I dont think there are any inherent differences. I think the differences are in the relative cultural values between whites and blacks (at least, in the US). White families/communities tend to put a higher emphasis on family and education than black families/communities do.

Edit: Down vote all you want! Search your feelings (or... you know, do a google search) and you will know it to be true.

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes there are cultural differences but a lot of this has historic roots brought about by segregation and white supremacy being the dominant culture. Only racial minorities immigrants from non white suprimacist regions seem to escape it's cumulative impact.

I agree with you about the history of their culture and the impact that institutional inequality has had on generational wealth and social standing.

Its been 50 years since the Civil Rights Act though. I understand that the effects of that era will linger, but there has to be a point where we look at these communities and say "You can only blame the past for so long." With higher education available to anyone who seeks it out, its getting more and more difficult to use poverty as an excuse to not elevate yourself into a better position. What it boils down to is family and education. If that community doesn't value family, then the family and, consequently, the community cant strive towards a common goal. If that community doesn't value education, then its children will be unprepared to tackle the rigors of higher education (and elevated social status) and the cycle will repeat itself for another generation.

We have a tendency to think it's more than OK to say this about Asians or Jews.

Yet, we get all uncomfortable when it's about white people.

[–]crazy_clown_cart 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, maybe partly because Asians and Jews statistically do have a higher IQ than white people.

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

White supremacy is kind of a thing, a historically destructive thing that we are still overcoming today.

[–]ichors 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I don't think that's true. Asian men seem to be more hardworking than white guys. Plus, black people when given private education etc. Etc. Perform to the same standard as white people. That being said, it's not discrimination, it is the economic prosperity of whites that puts them above blacks in the rat race.

[–]thro_way 39 points40 points41 points 10 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Plus, black people when given private education etc. Etc. Perform to the same standard as white people.

They actually don't. White students from households that earn under $20,000 have the same average SAT score as black students from households that earn over $200,000.

[–]ichors 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]BigOldNerd -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Some people interpret these results as cultural bias in standardized testing.

They've also found that checking a box for your race will lower your test score afterwards.

[–]nrjk 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

As far as IQ tests are concerned, why are Asians and Jews consistently at the top, whites in the middle and blacks at the bottom? IQ tests originated in Europe so any claim of "cultural bias" would put Europeans at the top, no? People only make claims of cultural bias to sooth their fears of being called racists when it's consistently shown blacks do not perform as well.

We wouldn't expect the same results from a person with Down's Syndrome to perform as well as an average person in a math or English class, correct. It doesn't mean you "hate" people with Down's but coming to an understanding of what would benefit people with Down's and separating them to focus on their needs.

Taking tests out of the mix completely, just look at history and advancements in sciences, architecture, music, etc. and make your comparisons between Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa--IQ it correlates pretty strong to what those individual cultures have achieved both culturally and scientifically.

It's the same notion between the male/female dichotomy-women are not as strong or athletic as men-there are biological differences that benefit both sexes on their own.

[–]BigOldNerd 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To jump on the racism bandwagon, I read about racial differences in neuron count. Jews and Asians just happen to have the highest counts. Wish I could dig up the article, so I know I'm not spreading disinformation. Race to intelligence studies are pretty taboo.

White men are simply harder working, ambitious and just have it more together than anyone else

So you are saying that you're a white suprimacist? Get it together dude, dare I say it's 2015 like a feminists...

The white rights types remain a problem because they aren't deriving their perspectives from the evidence but rather resorting to the same reflexive bigotry and fear mongering as prior generations of white nationalist. You want to prove oppression or disadvantage then show it in the stats, if not shut the hell up. Men's rights manages just fine when it comes to evidence bases social advocacy, the hate driven white rights crowd does not.

Almost all of the mainline companies all owned by white men with white men still inventing, innovating, designing, building, maintaining and repairing the entire FUCKING WORLD. Haha What the fuck do you know? You've prob never even had a job.

You think when white men lashing out like this over a black female CEO saying something we've heard a 1000 times from white CEO's male and female that race is no longer an issue? Time to get real about who is trying to strong arm who into silence. It's one thing to call out some over the top SJW stuff but this is far from controversial. Wanting some diversity where there is NONE isn't worthy of push back. This isn't a quota for 50% women but a expectation that there'd be some women or minorities some where in the upper management of a company. If you think that's bigoted then take a look at our history where systematically excluding all those people was standard operating procedure for centuries. It's the extremist bigotry of only white men are fit to lead that created the diversity push we see today. We see that even in these comments as white men discredit this women simply for being black and a women like a black women couldn't possibly be qualified for the job.

[–]GuyAboveIsStupid 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's pretty much the issue here, you think because she's a black female then she can't be racist or sexist, and anyone who apposes her is automatically a white male

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Black people can be racist. Women can be sexist. Wanting diversity in general does not make you that.

Do you understand? It's not very complicated.

I only assume I'll dealing with some kind of white backlash because her comments were too tame to raise eyebrows unless you're primed to overreact, even for MRA's. It wasn't even gender exclusive or focused. Her idea of diversity was simply any identity other than white males being included in the upper management or sales team. Who else would be primed to react like that to something major companies (with white male CEO's) have pushed for since America overcame the worst of racial and gender oppression?

[–]GuyAboveIsStupid -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I realize your just trolling: but what MRA's have more of is the ability to see through bullshit. If they didnt, they wouldnt be here. Which is why your shit doesnt fly. But that never stops you.

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not trolling, I'm standing up for the moral high ground you seem to care nothing about. The ability to see through bullshit is based on solid evidence not our whims. That's what keeps Men's Rights based amid a shit storm of endless controversy and counter cultural narratives. Periodically I see a lot (far right) people spouting off base white rights screeds instead of dealing with men's issues where the evidence is solidly on their side. This nonsense come in waves. The first time I saw it was with My Brothers Keeper. Some racial issue involving non whites is always the trigger for these irrational outburst and that's not a coincidence.

Which is why your shit doesnt fly. But that never stops you.

Not only does my shit fly, it's the dominant narrative. I step outside the comfort zone of mainstream social justice to side with a group of mostly white men because I see them addressing serious issues of injustice often perpetuated or marginalized by mainstream social justice. Calling for diversity in general is not one of those injustices. You need to get grounded in reality instead of thinking you can some how bully the masses into again accepting a unacceptable status quo like a feminists trying to convince men they don't deserve equal compassion after they discover the depth of men's issues.

We need more diversity in Men's Rights. If we had it already it wouldn't be so readily discredited and without it some very foolish men are trying hard to become the caricature the media made them out to be.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Black Rights Bullshit isn't the moral high ground. Ramming it down White peoples throats isn't going to work anymore. You've had 7 years of that and the US is as divided as ever. White men have realized that they will always get the short end of the stick so they aren't going to bother any more. Your great unifier set race relations back 50 years. And now we are seeing how radical islamists will also undermine society. Throw in your BLM domestic terrorism and your high ground is a complete joke. But you are clueless as usual.

Your narrative is a joke to anyone with critical thinking skills. Diversity in the MRM won't accomplish anything because people like you always try to hijack the narrative with your emotional terrorism. Just look at your karma in here. Since you are much smarter than everyone why don't you start r/blackmensrights and show us all how it works? I'm sure it will be the dominant men's narrative on Reddit just like you think you are in here.

"White male CEO say same thing all the time and it's cool..." Examples you fuck head...??? Are the "real MRA's" "BlackMRA's"? ...

This woman is a prime example of a government enforced program gone wrong. Government enforced diversity does not help with racism and race relations. When white people can't get jobs for no other reason than the color of their skin, and none of you idiots have a problem with that, then it's time to take another long look at the system. It is happening all over, thank god. The supreme court is spending much needed time on the subject. Affirmative action may have been a good intention, but it has pretty lousy results.

..But to get to your point, yes run the black lady out of her job for telling companies that supply Walmart that if they don't have more brown people on the board Walmart won't buy shit from them.... Yes, this cunt should lose her job.

By the way asshole, what about your own "racial backlash"? As soon as your people get into a position of power they do the exact same thing that they were crying about earlier...It's so hypocritical it's hilarious...

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes BLACK MRA. That's the diversity thing you see, when you know they exist then you notice that it's not a white male rights movement. The REAL MRA in my opinion would be those promoting awareness of Men's Issues from a evidence based perspective not a bunch of out of touch angry white guys mindlessly lashing out at women and minorities because they listened to too much Michael Savage.

"When white people can't get jobs for no other reason than the color of their skin, and none of you idiots have a problem with that"

Evidence? Do we have a lack of white men in these positions or far more of the than any other group? This is why "White Rights" is bull shit while "Men's Rights" is not. The evidence doesn't support a argument for systemic discrimination against whites while it does make a case for men regardless of race suffering systemic disadvantage. You want to flip the social justice narrative without doing the work Men's Rights Activist did to make their case. You are a ignorant individual lashing out at the world for perceived injustice while real MRA's deal with REAL INJUSTICE! Expecting there to be some diversity at a company for example is not oppressing whites who implemented these policies from their position of power. A move toward inclusion is what MRA's demand in the gender conversation and the lack of it has created apparent injustice.

The supreme court is spending much needed time on the subject. Affirmative action may have been a good intention, but it has pretty lousy results.

You have no idea where we came from or how AA has impacted the lives of women and minorities. Now that we're in a better place it's easy to assume it was never needed or that it's redundant until you walk into a meeting with no one but white men at the table. Of course you needn't have diversity distributed with proportional uniformity everywhere in the society but wanting to have some rather than none isn't a move to oppress whites or white males. All throughout you completely missed the gender angle on her comments demonstrating your real beef is with race and blacks in particular. This is the same reason why nearly every case where Affirmative Action is challenged occurs along racial lines despite gender Affirmative Action being the most common variety. This mentality of keep the brown people down or insuring they don't have too much power over whites is likely apart of our cultural legacy. You need to be a bit more self aware, just like MRA's who distance their feelings about women from their feelings about feminists.

..But to get to your point, yes run the black lady out of her job for telling companies that supply Walmart that if they don't have more brown people on the board Walmart won't buy shit from them.... Yes, this cunt should lose her job.

If a white man said the same thing you wouldn't care. She said diversity mattered, not that it would by itself exclude a company from doing business with Sam's Club. Looking favorably on diversity is a common business practice. We even see this in how companies approach marketing their products.

By the way calling women 'cunt' isn't cool. I don't think you take the cause seriously and would rather lash out at identity groups you think are a threat to your status. This is why you have this visceral hatred towards a black lady who says the same stuff we've heard for generations from powerful white men in the same positions.

By the way asshole, what about your own "racial backlash"? As soon as your people get into a position of power they do the exact same thing that they were crying about earlier...It's so hypocritical it's hilarious..

The same thing would be baring all people outside their race/gender from employment beyond the lowest positions in the company. This has not been demonstrated so your claim of hypocrisy is baseless. What we see is a expectation of inclusion, the equivalent would be expecting some white employees at a mostly black company which is nothing special since most already do. Even the world of hip hop early on had a handful of white artist who climbed to prominence without the kind of backlash we saw when blacks entered white dominated fields. The reason is simple. White supremacy created a culture where white hostility towards other groups was used to protect their power. Minorities being relatively powerless have less to protect except the meager gains they made under that system. Even so they aren't as culturally predisposed towards the kind of protectionist posture we see from the dominant group since control isn't something they were used to having in the first place.

Yes what you're doing is a racial backlash that's plain as day. Her idea of diversity wasn't gender exclusive. You'd throw minority men under the bus along with the women. That's a lot of people. Enjoy the next Trump rally, but you won't hear anything about Men's Rights there.

Nobody needs to be fired. What she was suggested was that you might want to add someone to the team that wasn't a white male. If she's asserting that white males hold a monopoly on this particular employment opportunity then it's fucking absurd to claim white males are in fact the victims.

You should let her assertion stand instead of acting all butt hurt because she expects the other 70% of America to be represented somewhere at the top of that company. The whole narrative would change if there were even ONE non white male. That's all it would take but even that is cause for outrage among those who swear they're victims unless they can behave like it's 1950. Diversity matters in ideals and identities especially when old school bigotry rears it's ugly head like we see today.

[–]stickynoodles 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Of course someone would need to be fired. Why would a company have more people than it needs? If you want to diversify that team then someone has to go. Natural diversity matters, if the best person for the job is a woman or from a minority then great, awesome even. However, forced diversity is horrible and is by definition considered discrimination, you can't hire someone who's objectively worse just because you want your company to seem diverse.

Oh, and she made it pretty clear that diversity is more important than merit:

"My executive team is very diverse and I make that a priority. I demand it within my team."

[–]kragshot 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And when she was given the go to make her team up, she followed her idea. Out of 8 people, four of them are white males...that's pretty diverse, eh?

Why do people get in here and pretend that racial and gender discrimination is not a thing? We know it happens on both ends of the spectrum...that's why this whole forum exists. The issue here is that we need to find balance in the whole thing.

We know that merit is and should be the primary rubric in any hiring scenario. But we also know that not everyone is playing by those rules and that workplace discrimination is still a thing. I suffered real discrimination in the hiring process and the workplace. There are still plenty of bigots controlling the hiring process in America.

Yeah, it's fucked up to hear it coming from the other side, ain't it? But I don't countenance it coming from a Black woman's mouth anymore than I would if it came from a White man's. And we have to stand by that...which means that we can't turn a blind eye, when somebody casually claims that "out of 50+ people, we couldn't find one PoC who was qualified to be part of our corporation's executive cadre." (a rough quote of a statement by a representative of IL governor Bruce Rauner when asked during his campaign why he had no Blacks or Hispanics working for his Illinois consulting company.)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No we dont need balance. That solves nothing. We have exactly two options:

Pure meritocracy.

Balkanization.

Stop acting like there are any other options because there arent. But in the sense that number one is basically impossible at this point it basically leaves us with just two. Its time to get on with splitting the nation into homogeneous groups. Then the truth will become apparent.

[–]kragshot 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hiring discrimination is and has always been a thing...people need to stop acting like this woman is saying something new and strange.

Again, it's fucked up to hear it coming out of somebody's mouth that isn't white, but there it is.

And your answer for this is to call for segregation?

People like you, making dumb-ass comments like that, are why white people are catching so much shit from everyone else, including other white people.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And its always been wrong to discriminate on anything other than talent. Why cant you get that. Self segregation has also always been a thing. Its the norm for most of human history. It works, and people prefer it. White people catch shit because its politically expedient for those with an agenda. Congrats you are 0/3.

[–]DillipFayKick 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Whatever you're talking about is most definitely not a response to my comment. I was talking about who we're now okay with hating in society. Just take the basketball comparison. There are too many black men in basketball. See how racist that already sounds? Or this: there are too many women in teaching and they seem to love molesting little boys. See how that sounds? There's no victimization happening if those companies diversify their teams, but the way we talk about white men. That's not right and if you think it is, then just try switching out the identity to women or black men or jews and see how the statement sounds then.

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When it appears that you're not allowing others to compete for opportunities then it's a problem. This is why we react negatively to exclusionary policies that marginalize men in need like the lack of Domestic violence programs or shelters for male victims. This of course is based on the fact evidence suggest the need is there since the victims exist. In the case of sports we don't see a systemic effort to exclude nor are athletes themselves aren't average. Basketball players are very tall, and football players are enormous walls of muscle. These traits along with a degree of athleticism may have a unusual distribution unlike average work where whoever gets the job determines who's going to rise in the ranks more than some special talent unique to few in the world or country. It's here where exclusion intentional or otherwise becomes more apparent. Now you can have places where there aren't many diverse people but almost no where will you find a shortage of the opposite sex.

I'm no fan of white male bashing, but I'm also not a fan of white racial backlash against minorities which is just as mainstream in the culture. Look at the reaction to Trayvon Martin or police shooting unarmed black men. The latter being a solid Men's Rights issue considering 98% of police shooting victims are male but MRA's were mostly silent on the issue. Meanwhile feminists of all people picked up the cause and organized activism for these mostly male victims.

I challenge white male bashing just about every chance I get but lashing out at a black female CEO for making a general call for diversity isn't how you do it.

[–]TacoNinjaSkills 25 points26 points27 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yup, when in doubt replace "white" or "male" with "jews". How does it sound now?

"Just today we met with a supplier and the entire other side of the table was all Caucasian males. That was interesting," Brewer said. "I decided not to talk about it directly with [the supplier's] folks in the room because there were actually no female, like, levels down. So I’m going to place a call to him."

Now read it as:

"Just today we met with a supplier and the entire other side of the table were all jews. That was interesting," Brewer said. "I decided not to talk about it directly with [the supplier's] folks in the room because there were actually no gentiles, like, levels down. So I’m going to place a call to him."

[–]Archibald_Andino 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. Let's play it out some more.

Like she said, she called their company President later that day and said words to the effect of, "I'm very disappointed and I must say a bit angry that you would send a team of Jews to my office. If you want to do business with me, this better not happen again."

This is getting more and more ridiculous! No other gender/race/religion would be expected to tolerate openly racist comments and attitudes like this - no Caucasian white male would expect the support of his employer in making comments like this!! I sincerely hope you are all true to your word in not spending there. If she showed up and it had been an entire panel of black females this wouldn't garner a second thought! Talent is what should count, not gender or colour - diversity in the workplace isn't something to work toward, it's what happens naturally when people from diverse backgrounds choose to work their asses off to get to where they wanna be!

Fuck this racist, misandristic piece of shit. There's a reason these things are white male dominated -- most of the people working hard at attaining these positions are white males. simple math:

America is roughly

  • 68% White
  • 13% African Americans
  • 14% Latino
  • 3% Asian
  • 2% other

now your common Idiot would look at this and say, well

out of every 100 people - you should have 68 whites, 13 blacks, 14 latino and 5 other ethnicity

Given a selection of 100 people people distributed evenly based on their racial density

Race # %of Higher education # of educated peoples %Male # Male %female #Female # uneducated M&F
White 68 38% 26 56% 15 44% 10 42
African American 13 15% 2 25% 0-1 75% 1-2 11
Latino 14 11% 0-1 48% 0-1 52% 0-1 13
Asian 3 49% 1-2 68% 1-2 32% 0-1 1
Other 2 10% 0-1 50% 0-1 50% 0-1 1

so you see that essentially there are roughly fifteen times as many educated white males, than there are black males, and roughly five to ten times as many educated white females than there are black females. Whites also own four times as many uneducated male/females.

This is why you see extremely sparse black to white employment ratios- we outnumber them almost 6 to 1 in sheer population, and nearly 15 times over in higher education- you could quite litterally say that for every 30 white applicants, you would have 2 black applicants.

I'm all for diversity- but not for diversity's sake. hiring a black applicant because they are black, is just as bad as hiring a white applicant because they are white. trying to enforce racial quotas is a foolish notion. almost as foolish as pushing gender quotas in areas with less than 10% of applicants being female (Cough the entire tech sector cough)

Sorry I called out racism/sexism, my mistake

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She wants them to try and hire other kinds of people instead of only white males. At no point were white males locked out the process, a process they already dominate hands down. This is the very low end of pushing diversity when there are no other groups represented. It's different when you have 10 or 15% women and demand 50% representation.

You are pushing this corny butt hurt bullshit that sounds just as extreme as a SJW insisting all white men to be kept out the hiring process. Going from one ridiculous extreme to the next isn't progress. Asking for some diversity isn't wholesale oppression of white males. Pick your battles carefully instead of saving your outrage for a powerful black women you'd like to make an example of. Seriously we heard diversity talk for years from hundreds, if not thousands of white CEO's and I've never seen a backlash like this.

[–]GuyAboveIsStupid 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are non whites and women not good enough for that company? How do you think we got down this road? Assuming only white men were suitable candidates was once dominant view attitude within the culture. Diversity initiatives came about to challenge that.

If their was only black females and a white male CEO said the same thing there would be outrage

Prove it. I don't think you can and I don't think you can make a case for white males being statistically underemployed relative to other groups either. There is no evidence for your 'white rights' argument which is why it's bullshit. Men's Rights is based. White Rights is not. ..what exactly is the problem here? She didn't say anything about discriminating, she said that she had a meting and the team she met with wasn't a very diverse group, in terms of ethnicity and gender. Nobody's doing anything that affects men here, it's a simple observation.

[–]CaptSnap 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

So this is how it goes. Sams is a subsidiary of Walmart. Walmart is one of the largest corporations on the planet. The CEO of Sams, and backed up its bigger brother Walmart, just said that she has a problem doing business with a group that isnt very diverse.

How diverse is your company? Do you want to compete in the global marketplace?

Well then you better replace some penises with some vaginas, preferably colored ones. Theres no mention of competency or skills or experience, none of that matters because it cant be seen by others when your business goes to sit down with someone else....like I dunno someone at the helm of one of the largest businesess in the world. Thats what she is saying. If you want to do business then you need to show up with some fucking colored vaginas.

Well thats backwards from where we want to be where everyone is judged by their merits and not their skin color or gender. Make sense?

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Right now men's rights activists are raising the alarm about our under performing boys and drawing attention to the massive gap in degree attainment on higher education. This merit only attitude will insure boys are pushed to the side like minorities were not so long ago so be careful what you wish for. As is collefe admissions are already employing under the table affirmative action to enroll more boys so the gender ratio is even more dramatically favoring women. Diversity has some value and being hostile to that isn't helping the cause.

[–]CaptSnap 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The merit only attitude assures that one day....after we have maybe fixed the problem of boys underperformance in school...but one day we will have equality by a measure everyone can be on board with. Its an objective impartial standard. We wont have to keep moving the goal posts and keep redefining what diversity is.

So youre probably right in the short term a meritocracy would not favor many young men because numerically there are less of them graduating. But it may favor their sons.

What is not clear is what will happen if we allow ourselves to be yet another pusher of the pendulum as it overswings the mark more often than hits it.

If you want to stomp out racism and sexism maybe its time to employ a standard of metric that is not entirely contingent upon judging people by their sex and/or race.

[–]zap283 -5 points-4 points-3 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I really, truly don't think that aiming for a diverse workforce is something to look down on, and I don't think it can't be done while also finding perfectly qualified people.

[–]CaptSnap 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I guess it depends. Do you want diversity to mean a wide range of skin colors and sexual organs or do you want diversity to mean a wide range of human experience, etc?

Because right now diversity means the former. Thats what the CEO noticed...a lack of colored vaginas, thats what she is commenting on. Because theres no way in fuck she could see the second is there? I mean I know its not rocket science.

So yeah its perfectly possible to hire someone based on the color of their skin or visible sex, knock yourself out. And its even possible to hold two perfectly comparably qualified people's resumes and discard one because of some arbitrary genetic difference that separates them from the sjw flavor of the month. But at least call a spade a spade.

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

She noticed there were no people of color or women. Not even the usual splattering of Asians. This colored vaginas nonsense is disgusting Trump style demagoguery. The lack of women was a after thought. A room full of only white males isn't diverse especially when we're talking about many different company reps coming together. She didn't complain about them being the majority, she complained because it was all of them.

[–]GuyAboveIsStupid 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why is it disgusting? That's what it boils down to. She wanted less white and less male in the room. She wanted more colored vaginas. Sounds a little unsure when you think about it like that right

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So you want only 'white dicks', see the problem? Disrespect is disrespect.

[–]CaptSnap 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No...we want diversity..the concept of being diverse...to mean something besides how many different colors of skin and how many kinds of sex organs we can be seen with. We want to live in a world where those metrics dont even enter anyone's mind.

Can you think of any meaningful metric of someone's personal achievement you or anyone else could determine by just looking at someone's sex or race? Can you think of any way you can just look at someone's sex or race and determine their life experience or what they are bringing to the table? Is that how you want people to look at you? To look at others?

Lets get right to the heart of it, why dont you just tell me your skin color and gender and let me judge you by that instead of the content of your heart to see if what you have to say is diverse enough to merit inclusion. Is that moving us toward a world you want to create or away from it?

[–]GuyAboveIsStupid 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm with you on this one. Making an observation that the company on the other side of the table had a demographically consistent membership isn't discriminatory, bigoted, or anything. She simply said it's interesting.

She may have implied that it's a negative, but I got that it's due to the lack of diversity, not what demographic the other company was. If someone values diversity, and comments negatively on a company that isn't, it's hardly 'SJWs gone crazy.' It may be a poor business move, but she crossed no lines that I can see.

Yes, but where would that put efforts to get more men in Elementary education or more males attaining degrees to counter the massive and growing gender gap we see there? That's the short sighted rhetoric I expect from the newbies who haven't realized they were in some kind of identity politics social justice movement. It's one of the few that actually include white men but it's not all about them. Alienating all the rest would be some serious self sabotage and lashing out at a black female CEO just for wanting diversity in the companies she deals with would probably do the trick. If a company were for example only white women and a white male CEO asked why aren't they more diverse, you wouldn't start crying he's a racist and a sexist. I know this.

Assuming it's only white guys because white guys are just the best...that seems a lot more racist and sexist to me.

Where did I say that? Making stuff up now... ? Interesting

Alienating all the rest would be some serious self sabotage and lashing out at a black female CEO just for wanting diversity

You mean for being racist... ?

If a company were for example only white women and a white male CEO asked why aren't they more diverse, you wouldn't start crying he's a racist and a sexist

He'd also be a racist... ? Unlike you, I don't think it's only some races that can be racist

Sorry you like racism when it benefits certain races

quit lashing because a "colored vagina" as so many of you put it has a high profile job instead of a white man.

Ironically what you're saying is pretty much at the same level as what the CEO said. You check yourself.

Yeah I am saying that. For real this is why people associate MRA's with a bunch of white nationalists white men who think their oppressed because women and minorities can compete for their jobs. This movement isn't the white man's backlash against the colored and female hordes out to take their jobs, it's about finding balance in the gender debate so that we may address true injustices against men not bullshit narrative about white men being locked out the job market when this lady is telling you that they were the only ones with the top jobs in the company.

Then she should probably stop working for Walmart

Having trouble agreeing with the sub's hivemind on this one. I don't think it's wrong or inconsistent for her to say this, whether you flip the races or not. If she's looking for diversity, it doesn't matter if the executives are all white, black, Jews, etc. Maybe she would have had a complaint in any of these scenarios. She just happened to pick a white male executive board because that's what her audience would understand.

[–]Samurai007_ 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

C'mon, be honest, do you think she would have complained if the sales team were 100% black women? Would she have said "Where are the white men?" "Diversity" is a liberal code word for "non-white and female", so a group of all black women would be viewed as the height of the height of diversity, not lacking in it.

[–]crazy_clown_cart 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, she probably wouldn't have complained because black women have been historically (and still currently are) disenfranchised, so it'd be wrong to take away what little power they have as a group. That's not diversity though, you're right.

[–]Samurai007_ 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Right, so the goal is not truly "diversity", it's "fewer white males". "Diversity" is just the code word, and an inaccurate one at that.

[–]crazy_clown_cart 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well, "code word" seems a bit disingenuous. Fewer white males? I think the goal would be a smaller proportion of white males. And that certainly coincides (although is not identical to) the concept of diversity.

[–]Samurai007_ 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, I'm opposed to that warped version of diversity, and the idea that diversity is inherently good. I say choose the best people for the job. If that results in all white males, fine. If it results in no white males, fine. But purposely passing over more qualified candidates because of their gender and skin color is sexist and racist. Remember the dream of judging people by the content of their character, NOT the color of their skin (or gender). Judging people by the color of their skin is what we're supposed to be fighting against, not promoting as beneficial simply because the targets of the bigotry are different.

[–]crazy_clown_cart 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with the goal of ultimately rewarding the best candidates for the job. Right now, the best candidates would probably all be white and Asian men.

But it might be because they're the only ones given the tools that they need to succeed, and when we allow them to dominate the economic landscape, then other groups will continue to be left out (since "the playing field is not even"). That's why we'd lower the bar for other races -- to make things more equal for future generations, so everyone can eventually compete fairly, regardless of their race/gender.

This is really a stronger argument for race than for gender, because it's hard to argue that males are somehow disproportionately getting the resources while leaving their female siblings/children out. But it's pretty reasonable to observe this is the case for race.

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This nasty underbelly shows up when they are forced to deal with race. If she wasn't a black women you wouldn't see all this outrage.

Are you defending a racist and a sexist... ? I'd say people would be upset, yeah

[–]BlackMRA-edtastic -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Apparently wanting any diversity in white male exclusive faces is racism and sexism to you and you wonder why people rally behind the feminists and SJW's.
