Since when are people such fucking pussies? Like grow the fuck up, if someone says something mean then deal with it. Seriously it's not a hard thing to do. If someone is a dick to you at work ALL the time then talk to them one on one about it. Seriously it's not that hard of a concept.

In college as a freshman a junior was a complete dick to me on the track team. So I pulled him off to the side and told him I felt really disrespected and would appreciate if he cut it out. He knocked it off. He talked a lot of shit behind my back but I never heard it so it no longer bothered me.

Grow the fuck up people stop trying to hide in these safe spaces when you can just handle it.

I had a point with my story, oh yeah, if you're getting bullied then talk to that person one on one it usually changes things. If the bully is with his group of friends he will he a dick. If the bully is online then fucking click ignore and move the fuck on.

"Safe space"

That basically means that you're a brat who prefers to proceed through life safely sheltered from people who have views that are in opposition to your own. You will brand anyone who calls you out on your stupid views, which can only exist in an intellectual vacuum without opposing views, as being a threat to your "safety".

That is the most cowardly, bratty, entitled way of thinking I can imagine. These feminists are princesses who strongly support insanely idiotic philosophies that they themselves don't think can't stand up to criticism. So basically they know they're wrong but want to make sure that other people don't know it. This feminist movement is a deliberately deceptive, thinly-veiled war against men. The feminists are the chauvinists themselves and they know it, but they will use any opportunity they have to depict themselves as being victims simply as a means of gaining additional leverage in the war they've waged. They want special treatment and female superiority. Men's rights isn't a threat to them because men are the oppressors, it's a threat to them because sane reasonableness and equality is the actual, existing obstacle in their way.

Shutting down this person who clearly did not come prepared to deal with logic was gratifying, but it does show why it's such a problem to defeat this neoprogressive movement. The strongest figureheads do not engage in debate where they can be shut down, not unless they can twist it to their advantage with greater numbers (many like-minded people against a single dissenting voice.)

That's the real point of no-platforming; it's problematic because if they have to debate it, they end up with nothing but the sound of silence and an awkward look on their face.

I'm a Bristol university student going to the talk, everyone I've asked agrees that Milo shouldn't be banned, so I think it's just the feminist minority that wants him gone. Here's what the University of Bristol journalism society posted on the event page:

" FURTHER STATEMENT REGARDING THIS EVENT:

As far as we are concerned, the event will be going ahead however with a planned change of format, subject to approval from Bristol SU.

The proposed format will be a debate between Milo Yiannopoulus and a recognised female journalist, who will be arguing against him.

We believe this will spark lively discussion, something that we believe is one of the most important elements of student life.

Further details of our plans will be released in the next couple of days.

Thank you to the many of you who have expressed an interest in the event so far.

He's arguing that safe space is a misnomer because the safety in safe space doesn't stand for physical safety. I understand not inviting someone with an opposed view in a club, i don't know to which event they didn't want him to come to, but if it's an open-to-all large event and not just for club members he should be allowed to come, because if he's invited that means people are interested in what he has to say, and moreso because he promotes the discussing of ideas for what they're worth. I thought it was cringey how she didn't want to acknowledge transgenderism as a word, but transgender was okay, and yes i agree that it's a psychological trouble, part of the body dysmorphism family.
