The second a man becomes better and improved, he looks for a better and improved partner. This is one of the consistent truths about men. There's sadly no point building a man up. If you get with a man who has built himself up already, he will find you that much more valuable for having had to work hard to be worthy of you. If you got with him when he was at his lowest, he will never have any respect for you. He will forever see you as trash who dates trash because they define women by who they date. This is why they never leave a woman alone if she's single, but if she has a boyfriend they back off. Even the manosphere admits that they don't want the girl who dates them at their lowest, they want the girl they can get at their best.

What's mad is that I've never met a man who actually wants to help a woman the way we're trained to help them.
Some men see women who are going through a rough time and, instead of helping, simply exploit her. Others just call her a mess and don't give her a second thought- depends on how attractive she is, really.

And I was a "hot" mess when I was young, believe me. They don't want to build you up. They like that you're broke, they like that your self-esteem is near rock bottom, they like that you don't have many friends or family around you, they like that you think you're ugly, stupid and not good enough. They act like they gonna build you up, but all they do is take it away and you end up worse off.

And we're supposed to painstakingly drag a dude out of his own rut because he's "got issues" even if we sacrifice ourselves doing this. Even if the dude doesn't shower, doesn't clean up, doesn't work, doesn't give us any thought , we're supposed to support him and treat him like he's king, but train him like a dog til he's back on his feet. It's exhausting and yeah, he sure does lose respect for you for sticking around. Or he becomes like a limit and won't ever leave you alone because "we've been through so much together " . No, dude, you put me through a lot and I threw my life down the drain for it. I'm not sticking around to be your second mommy forever.

My first serious boyfriend from when I was 20 was so poor that he barely had enough to buy toilet paper. But at the time I really didn’t care because I enjoyed spending time with him. We were together for years. Eventually he started making a ton of money and then he actually accused me of only being with him because he makes a lot of money. Lol ok. Anyway yea he became a dick. And I left.

Ouch how true that is. 8yrs with an ex and apparently the gal he has found to fill the void I left is just oh so much better! No sweetie, you just (hopefully) learned a valuable lesson from your years with me and haven't put her through the hell I faced or she's so desperate she ignores how incapable you are.

A guy I was seeing got stuck in a depressive rut at the beginning of quarantine and I decided to stick by him and nurture him even though everything in me was telling me it wasn’t a good idea. He was so depressed he slept for days and he was simply just waiting to go back home with his family (he lived alone for college), where I hoped he’d be happier and more put together.

Turns out he became even more lazy and distant and every time I called him out, he would accuse me of asking for too much and for never being able to have enough. They never remember the love you put into them when they’re in a dark place because how they perceive you is a reflection of who they are in that period of their life.
