Has any1 else noticed the Playboy label being plastered all over “trendy” clothing brands… it makes me so uncomfortable this is being marketed in an already porn saturated generation. Both PacSun and Urban Outfitters proudly promote these products despite historical misogyny. It gives me the ‘ick’.

Ugh playboy is so normalized I think to men of my generation they don’t even see it as full blown porn anymore. One of my friends has an extra room in her apartment she’s turning into a girly get ready room. She showed it to me and was telling me her plans to decorate - vanity here, plant here, oh and some playboy on the wall here wouldn’t that be so cute?

Perfect example of the frustration with my peers, I didn’t even find it weird she’d think nothing over it. We were the teens obsessed with Holly Madison and the playboy bunnies, we associated peak hot girl/femininity with that. These are the dream girls for men, it felt like getting exclusive access to that. And to be a girl wearing the logo, sweatshirt, have a framed photo etc makes girls feel like look at me, I have an edge. So the “innocent” connection is still associated with playboy today despite the despicable POS behind it all. It’s moments like these that make me feel like we’re fighting a giant uphill impossible battle

Just today I read an article about how many celebrity women posed for playboy. As if it’s a rite of passage for famous women. Remember Billie Eilishs lingerie photos even though she always wanted to be covered up anyway? (Ik not this magazine but it’s the same idea). All the way from the 50s until today. Oh youre a serious actress/model? Do you wanna get naked? And no this shit isn’t empowering or men would strip naked all over the place.

I was a teen when those playboy merch things were first popular. I remember classmates having a playboy necklace, pillows, underwear, purses and ofc the body spray. We were 13! Back then I just thought it was ugly bc I didn’t even know what playboy really was. Looking back it disgusts me and I’m disgusted even more that this has to make a comeback in fricking 2022
