I don't ware make up at all specifically because of how fucking dopey and stupid men start acting around me when I do. Like I love dolling up, its fun, its creative and I look stun with lipstick mascara etc. but I hate how guys look stare at me for longer and inevitably some douchelord will tell me "You SHoulD Wear MAke UP MORE OfTEn!" Male friends that I have long established friendships with act like they've never met me, or like they are meeting me for the first time. Once a friend that I went to school with and later worked at the same company with at a Christmas function I had straightened my fair and had full make up, and HE says "wow I never knew how much potential you had" its was the most humiliating back handed compliment, we had been friends for such a long time and I had had a crush on him in highschool but I was sort of "tom-boyish" back then.

So I just don't even bother, no shame in anyone who wears it, I just think men are dumb because they think light male up is no make up, they say they 'hate heavy make up' but they dont even know what that is. and if a girl wears makeup regularly and then they see them without it they don't understand why she looks different. there is zero point in adjusting any part of your appearence for the male gaze. they are too stupid to notice anyway and just look out for 'straght blond hair' markers or whatever their 'type' is that is based on what ever porno they last watched anyway..

I've just had my hair cut into a chic, dark Parisian bob and I look absolutely stunning. I know men will whine "but... you cut like 7 inches off your hair... whyyy?' but fuck them and society's insistence that long hair is the only way for a woman to look beautiful. Now I look like Amelie and can roll out of bed in the morning with my hair looking fantastic.

You did good. I stopped following trends or whatever is "hot" or deemed attractive to society for the matter just because it doesn't suit well with me and my personality. For example i love everything that comes with vintage fashion even though idiots stare at me weird because "i dress up like their grandma" and don't show up so much skin . yikes. I also quit fast-fashion and spend my money on quality pieces that aren't made of shitty materials even though i'm labeled as a "high-maintenance" chick. Hell i'll take it as a compliment.

And speaking of hair.... i've got naturally thick curly brown hair and i'm not going to ruin the texture with dye and tbh any other color will look like shit on me anyway.

I'm loving this post! Earlier this year I cut off most of my hair cause pandemic, stay at home orders, less upkeep. I pretty much quit caring what anyone thinks, still in the process of finding myself again as OP. I'm starting to let it grow back out, but question on whether I'll be tempted to cut it very short again. I feel so much more freedom being single. No more, will he like it? What will he think? Fk them.

A few months ago I chopped 18 inches off my hair, back into the angled short Bob I was known for in my youth. It feels so great. Not to mention so much easier.

My STBXH says he preferred it long, but all he did was bitch about my hair getting wrapped around things.

Yessss! I stopped bleaching my hair. My natural hair color has red undertones so it would take several hours of processing to get my hair blonde, not to mention $$$. All that time and money is being better spent now ♥️

I have very pretty, longer than average hair. I chopped it all off because I wanted to experience a short pixie (loved it).

The attention, help and investment from nem in my life t a n k e d, whether they were strangers, acquaintances or friends.

The flipside was I experienced 40% reduction in street and workplace harassment.

Men were no longer holding doors for me or grabbing my body.

Since growing it out, it’s all back again.

Very eye opening.
