Nearly all of the other relationship subs are trash misogyny always giving men the benefit of the doubt. I often have to unstick my eyeballs from rolling them so hard at the comments.
BTW, the over 40 sub is way better. There are a number of women commentators in that community that are absolutely ruthless.

Yes! I discovered the over 40 sub recently Less bullshit is tolerated there.
[–]Exsqueeze_mehFDS Apprentice 81 points82 points83 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup! That's because we've been through the "give him a week" stuff and it's always the same bullshittery with these guys. Fool me once, you know the saying.

I've enjoyed venturing over there on occasion.

There’s still a good amount of misogyny going on in the over 40 dating sub. I have been blocked from it a couple of times myself and downvoted to oblivion for my comments on there … Proudly!

As is said often on this sub: if he wanted to, he would.

This happen to me at university, I started seeing this guy and he disappeared for two weeks!! No text,no call nothing.... He came back two weeks later. He saw me out with friends ( I'd stopped to do my laces up) I saw two feet stop in front of me and when I looked up it was him....know what I did, got up and walked straight past him like he wasn't there and got on with my life. He didn't get so much as a word from me ever again and we had mutual friends.
Other than my daughters dad I have no issues cutting people off, I'd cut him off if I could.
Girl, Block , delete live your best life.

Who would give anybody a week, in the era of texting which takes few seconds to send? People are literally glued to their phones, don't be fooled by "they're just busy".
[–]spinsterchachkiesFDS Disciple 82 points83 points84 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Men don’t give women a week? Why should women give men a week? The hell is that nonsense
[–]the_moocher80FDS Newbie 71 points72 points73 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I time them to 48 hours & then cut them off! Previous experience has taught me that only the shady ones do a disappearing act.

Yep. Even if I don’t know you yet and we’re chatting on a dating app- over 2 days and no response, I unmatch. Even if it’s a day and I see you’ve been on the app in the meantime- unmatch.

My mom’s advice was 24 hours because who does he think he is to think that we’ll be here waiting for him
[–]me_ologyFDS Newbie 28 points29 points30 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The entitlement is unbelievable and there is too much of it.
[–]Hateorade_FDS Newbie 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The same obviously applies in a relationship right? Your mom is so right. They wouldn’t wait for us, so why should we?
[–]haunted_vcrFDS Newbie 66 points67 points68 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Treat them like missing person cases - if they're not to be found within 48 hours, they're dead 😋
[–]miphasgracefulFDS Apprentice 61 points62 points63 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When I was still dating, I gave the guy no longer than 48 hours to get back to me, then I immediately moved it along. And in doing so, you don’t continue to romanticize the person for who they truly aren’t and the work they aren’t putting in, and you free yourself up to find the person who actually will put in that work and effort.
[–]janeaustenfan99FDS Newbie 37 points38 points39 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A man who is truly into you couldn’t go a week without being in contact.
[–]drunkenwithlustFDS Newbie 22 points23 points24 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The person who responded "give him a week" was probably him. The newest COD is free to play this week.

I block after 3 calendar days.🤣😂 Story: after 3 days of not hearing anything, I blocked a guy from OLD on my iPhone so he texted me on my WhatsApp. The message was actually cute and thoughtful. He explained the he had been busy with work, isn’t a flake and was still hoping to connect with me but wished me the best if I didn’t care to respond. We exchanged some messages and ended up going on a nice dinner date. He picked a n upscale restaurant with an ocean view and was a gentleman. And I was actually physically attracted to him!
But I was getting confirmed bachelor vibes. I was initially hesitant to match with him because in his profile he stated “44 not 40” and usually those men are looking for women in their 20s so they fudge their age to not get filtered out.
Post date we texted for a bit and then I never heard from him again. He knows to not circle back because that boundary has been established so if he had been into me he would have gotten in touch a few days after the date. Blocked him just in case because audacity. 🤣
I highly suspect he is juggling multiple women and knew that I was “high maintenance”. A never married, no kids 44 year old man is almost always a Peter Pan that likes it that way but will lie to younger women about wanting children to get what he wants. Also, the nice thing as you get older is that you really begin to trust your gut.
I know of ZERO happy relationships that begin with an inconsistent man.

Yes ladies, give him a week to figure out if he wants you or the other 4 girls he’s talking to /s
I give them 48 hours after we match or meet to initiate conversation or reply. If we have been on 2 dates or more and talking consistently, I end things after 24 hours of no contact (unless previously discussed of course). Last guy, we dated for almost 3 months. I cut things off after not hearing from him for 36 hours, but he was active on social media. Nothing is a bigger flag in your face waving “he’s just not that into you” than a man who can go 24 hours or more without talking to you.
[–]candyfox84FDS Newbie 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
While I don't believe in intense levels of contact, initially, I do think a man will show interest pretty early on. Context matters. At least a little text or something after a first date, within 24 hours, followed-up by a phone call within three days. I believe in "the rules" on that front, that if he hasn't asked you out by Wednesday, he's not in your plans for Friday. I also wouldn't want a guy to text me every day if we just met.

I had this happen to me before. A male friend told me to drop the guy because men take time out of their day for things or people that they want. I didn’t listen and once the guy contacted me again he gave be this big speech about having a family issue going on which is why he didn’t message me back. I believed him because imo we weren’t close enough for me to know that information but in the back of my head I thought to myself why didn’t he just give me a quick text or call letting me know he wasn’t going to be available for a couple of weeks. I didn’t listen to my gut and ended up going out with this guy. After our date he tried to hook up and I cut him off after that. Lesson learned
[–]apple_coresFDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s always “family issues” 😂
[–]catandalady9FDS Newbie 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I see a lot of 24 hrs and 48 hr averages, no judgement on what everyone is comfortable with - however - given how much everyone is connected to their phone these days. If I don’t get a reply at least after dinner time or next morning, ima respect the dead and move on 🤞🏼
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

More infos needed/depends on the situation I'd say ?
I switch my phone off for days at a time. And in general can have very antisocial phases, being entirely under the radar for weeks or even months.
But yea, everybody is allowed to drop me, no grudges (I'm serious - people who don't know me think I'm pissed off or passive aggressive, when I just really don't care too much ? I reject people often and say No a lot because I need me time, so I'm not mad when others reject me. Anybody else here like that ?).
[–]sassyheatherFDS Apprentice 61 points62 points63 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If you were a man and say Adriana Lima (or another gorgeous “dream” woman of you) was dating you, would you switch off your phone and disappear on her? Men know. If they wanted to, they would.
[–]anywaysheresrationalFDS Newbie 24 points25 points26 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hey fair call. Totally. They do know. It's definitely a message. Absolutely.
And yea, again: if she doesn't like it, she should just carry on with her day. That's what I'd probably do. 🤷♀️
Not out of spite or grudge, just because... you know, hustle ? Life is short, and it's busy.
I would have "blown" it with a handful of Brad Pitt's of this world ? Eh. Dunno. Don't care. No man interrupts my tranquilidad 😌🙏
[–]laffytaggyFDS Newbie 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]burritogirl101FDS Newbie 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
To an extent. I've always made time for people I care about and it doesn't feel like I'm forcing myself to make an effort when I want to speak to someone. When I was dating in my early 20s and speaking to guys I just wasn't that interested in, I'd constantly pull the "oh wow, I'm so busy, sorry I ignored you for days!" - except I wasn't that busy and knew exactly what I was doing. I just didn't have the courage to turn them down politely.
[–]anywaysheresrationalFDS Newbie 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hey that's fair.
I didn't date at all until 26, and Idk. I'm just different it seems, in terms of saying No pretty directly. I feel... I had a enough situations where this got rather ugly but idc... I still just say it.
Nnnoooopeee. My dude. Just no. 🙅♀️🖐🚷😆
[–]jebemoFDS Newbie 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I disappear for stretches too. I work a funky schedule and work either 2 or 3 days in a row that average 13.5 hours. My phone is only off of airport mode from like 6pm-7pm those days and I'm usually fried and not trying to have conversations. My people know this of me at least. I'm sure I come across as uninterested with most romantic prospects but to be honest I have been mostly uninterested.. I dont really need the small talk constantly. Its tiring.

Not depressed. Not desperate. Just. Ha. I love my peace and quiet. 😌😆

I also have my reasons to go ghost. I don't want to see a guy everyday and I don't want to feel obligated to text and send snaps everyday
[–]ScalesHaveFallenFDS Newbie 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I do get the bit caring too much, esp as I get older. If it’s not a vibe it’s so much easier for me now to just not engage further with someone and let it drift. I hear you on the needing me time.
However with a possible romantic relationship, that’s gotta get some brain juices flowing in a different way and commend more attention and be a priority. I wouldn’t allow a man to circle back after 48 hours.
[–]Dontstopmenow2021FDS Newbie 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
if you care about someone, you just let them know in advance that you'll be off grid. It's common courtesy not to let people hanging in the dark if you have a relationship with them...or if you're beginning to have one.
