They act like it’s so damn hard. It really is this easy.

why don't they all start behaving this way?
Because they aren’t all good men. People in general are narcissistic. Women have more empathy and compassion so we are able to put others first.
It just simply doesn’t occur to them. Generally (from my experience) the only time a man goes out of his way for a woman is when he personally gains something from it.

My first boyfriend won me over with small, thoughtful gestures in high school. I said I was really craving some hot chocolate, while we were all playing an online game together. He lived down the street from me. Ten minutes later, he shows up at my door with hot chocolate and three girl scout cookies arranged on a cute tray. It didn't cost him anything, but the thoughtfulness made my heart leap. If he won candy at an event and didn't want it, he'd leave it taped to my door with a note. He'd come over just to accompany me while I walked the dog. Just showing care and thoughtfulness is so important. It doesn't have to be grand, expensive gestures. You just have to show that you're thinking. That you care. That you listen. It's really that simple.

It so is! I was with someone who wrote me 14 page love letter and someone else who wrote twenty reasons why they loved me.
All you need is paper, pen and to actually care!

This is just so true. It's the small stuff like this, done consistently, that keeps love alive.

And they whine about us being gold diggers. That’s a fallacy This is all we want. Someone who has good intentions and pays enough attention to us to make us feel special. It’s not too much to ask.
[–]CuriousCatNYC777Ruthless Strategist183 points184 points185 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
The only people I hear complaining about gold diggers are men who have zero gold. 🤔
[–]meecy166FDS Newbie78 points79 points80 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
They are just jealous of rich men and the fact that they can’t provide for their dream women
[–]CuriousCatNYC777Ruthless Strategist55 points56 points57 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep! That’s why they treat the women who settle for them like trash.
[–]XXYourMom1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Men who need gold to get women are the ones who are just too stubborn to do this kind of thing.
[–]erebus_1231 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
LMAO I'm dead!
This is so true, not to mention I've seen more male gold diggers than female. My sister's ex was a massive gold digger, always made her pay for dates, trips, anniversaries!

I was blown away just reading this, why isn’t stuff like this more common? We act like men are sent from god for managing basic human achievements, and run the risk of being forever alone if we raise our standards to where they should be

I used to have a pretty great man but he died.
Once I was driving to see him and I saw a beautiful bank of thistles flowering by the side of the road. I stopped, took a picture to share with him, and brought him one I’d picked.
He cried.
That’s how simple it is to be kind and show your love.

I did this for an ex-BF LVM who didn't deserve or appreciate it much, but with his favorite thing: bananas. Got him all types of banana flavored treats, accessories, toys, a book about the fruit, etc.
The lesson I learned from that relationship was to only expend that type of generosity & thoughtfulness on a HVM who's worth it & will reciprocate.

For Christmas one of my exes got me a non-wrapped, cracked case , J. Cole album ( He liked J. Cole, I hadn't even known him) that he had picked up from his job at Best Buy. Later on that night he asked me to download the songs to my computer so I could send them to him digitally... I said nothing.

My husband and I met last semester of college where we were assigned seats next to each other. He would regularly wake up at 4AM to bake fresh bread and pies to give me during our 8AM class. We weren't even dating yet. Yeah it doesn't take a lot of money to show a woman you care about her???

I dated a cop once and he asked me what my favorite color was, I told him green. The next day he comes over with the ugliest, I mean fucking hideous, lumpy forest green comforter for my bed. I had mentioned I needed a new comforter but that was something I wanted to pick out and just because green is my favorite color doesn’t mean I want my bed covered in it!
That relationship didn’t last long. He meant well and was super sweet but also scary stalky. He routinely showed up to my apartment unannounced and once after I told him I was sick and couldn’t go out (I was attempting to cut ties at that point). So yeah, be careful dating cops.

No one else finds this creepy and over the top?
[–]zuzumotaiFDS Newbie43 points44 points45 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think it would be creepy if there wasn't already interest there. Like if they were strangers or not very good friends, this would be a bit much. But the fact that she was willing to come over to his house alone suggests that there was already some relationship there. Either really good friends, or in the early stages of dating. In that case, I don't think its creepy or over the top. Even if she didn't want to date him, if they were really good friends, i think it would be a sweet gesture.

[–]DraperBabyMakerFDS Newbie11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I did. Like take one thing and run with it? Don't think she liked orange thaaat much haha.
Plus it's only his account of how much it "blew her mind". I reckon she was just like "oh... everything's orange....thanks?"
