No matter what women’s struggle: childbirth, pregnancy, periods, child rearing, etc. We need to let go of the idea that men don’t understand us. They do, and choose to look the other way. They know how hard it is to live in this world as a woman. They know how dangerous being out at night alone is. They know how dangerous it is to go out drinking and to clubs. That’s why as soon as they have daughters all of these dangers are suddenly real.

Stop trying to explain these concepts to them. Most men are contrarian and will argue just for the sake of arguing. Men are also very class conscious and will stand up for each other no matter the circumstance. You might think you’re doing something when you write paragraphs, have debates, or share videos explaining womanhood but instead, you are just giving them space to gaslight.

This concept applies even more in relationships. Don’t fall into the idea that your boyfriend just forgets the laundry everywhere. That he just isn’t good at remembering important dates or events. That he’s a terrible planner. We talk a lot about weaponized incompetence. This concept is both macro and micro. We see it everyday with the men in our lives but men have also managed to convince us that they are all bumbling idiots that just don’t understand us. Don’t fall for it. We need to stop explaining and leave them behind. Let’s stop holding their hands and let them be the “leaders” they always claim to be. No more explaining.
