So true. A lot of guys I know want constant attention from females and it affects their overall self esteem way more than any of my female friends (which is typically the stereotype).

A lot of people also think that if they reach out to a boy who's being flaky and he responds that that's a sign he's into them/wants to keep seeing them... when he really is just bored and wanting attention/an ego boost. Not worth it in the end! Took many years for me to learn this.

Literally happened to me this weekend. Noticed that our texting became less frequent and me doing most of the talking. So I blocked him on chat and unfollowed on IG.

He messaged me to ask why I removed from everything. I (stupidly) decided to respond to him. It was a short matter of fact answer “you weren’t giving the same energy I was giving, so I moved on”. Then he went on to give excuse and explanation for his behaviour. And then re-engaged with me again only to not answer me at all.

He just needed the validation. And to get in the last word.

Lesson learned. Block and delete is the only way to go.

Some men (& just people in general) are toxic, & toxic people always claim that they're "not." So they will come into your life & deplete you of all of your natural resources until you cut them off completely.

Very true, happened to me with 2 men with one of them being my ex and the other one wasted my time for months while refusing commitment (i asked him to become official like 3 times, ah, old me).

Each time i showed signs of moving on they would reach on a platform i forgot to block them on and say they're sorry and i fell for it.

This is so good. Why is this such a thing? I mean I know why. But it's so stupid. They can only fill their insecurities by getting those little "wanted" points, and screwing up other people's lives. You need to be sad in their absence for them to feel important. Playground bullies are so much more obvious and clear in theese matters. In grade school you're told, bullies just need put you down to feel good about themselves. But this is more convoluted because they are viewing your distress over situations they've created as a measure of how much you care about them. I can see the confusion here and how it could inadvertently or advertantly fuel some ones ego, but creating false situations where you appear available only to then get the ego boost off having multiple people wanting you to be available (a false situation you created) is stupid. I now work extra hard to make sure I'm not wasting my time filling up some insecure f boys "wanted" points bucket, especially when it's always under false pretenses.

This makes so much sense. I'm shook.

I'm very sad thinking how many of us have inadvertently been pigeonholed into Placeholder, Plan B, Plaything, or Fangirl by LVMs. And we bought the lies that we were "empowered" or the men "really did care but just didn't show it" or that guy "would someday get better if he could just see my point of view."

This explains the hot and cold behavior of LVM, fuckboys, etc. The fleeting interest and attention from them was merely to stroke their own egos, not a marker of my own desirability. Demoralizing.

Just deleted a guy from everything today. I liked him a lot, but he was giving me the run around and instead of just telling me if he was interested or not I got “Ive been distant. Tell me this isn’t weird: I met a guy on okc, he asked for my number after a couple of messages and I obliged. He’s really cute and I like receiving his texts but we’ve been talking for two weeks and I’ve hinted (and blatantly asked) to meet up but he keeps avoiding the question and wants me to commit to only seeing him before we meet. He’s in his early 30s and I’m in my early 20s. I’ve cut him off. That was the right decision, yes?

Anyone else having some mortifying early 20s flashbacks? So fucking glad I didn't wind up with any of the losers I let waste my time back then. We needed this 10+ years ago. But it's also been helpful in other parts of life now. And if for some reason I ever have to start over, I'll be so fucking thankful for this sub, then.

I remember someone on here saying that men need validation and attention from women more than the other way round. This is why exes always go back. They want to see if their previous conquest still desires them, and it’s a massive blow to their ego if they have moved on.
