Same thing happened to me growing up. Met a 26 year old man when I was 17. He waited till I was 18 to officially "date" me. After that I moved in with him after a couple of months. That started 10 years of abuse, control, and manipulation that I only broke free from physically and mentally just last year. Would not recommend.

apparently they were lying about their dating timeline. he was "pursuing" (her words) her since she was around 15/16. she posted pics of them going to her high school prom together and he even told her when they met that he told her "i know you're going to be my last girlfriend"... i'm sick that her parents did absolutely nothing.

Me too. Met him when I was 19. He was 26. He wanted me to move in within two weeks, fully depend on him, swept me off my feet by taking me on a trip to France. He wanted to marry me “while I was still a teen” because it was “unique” to him. Got married after like three months of dating, and the day before my 20th birthday. Abusers can truly make you feel like you’re their soul mate, until one day it all changes and they show who they really are. And so many woman go through this.

Didn’t the parents have any influence over their daughter when she was growing up I mean? Hasn’t it been said that fathers are the most influential when it comes to who a daughter will become involved with? A lack of involvement can lead to disaster studies show.

Ugh I met someone like that 26M and I was just turning 18. Then when he was 28 he started dating someone that was 16 and married her around that age. They are divorced now but they had a child together. When he was preying for me he tried to become a mechanical engineering after graduating from graphic design. He never graduated. He just went back to school to prey on young women. Now divorced he is trying to pursue a medicine degree. I bet to keep preying on young women.

How do I know all of this? He keeps trying to contact me through social media all these years. I am 28 now. It always sickens me.

This was my cousin who is a few months my junior. She was in her first week into college (at 17) when she met her now husband, who is 7 years her senior. They were engaged 2 months later and married 4 months after that. She got pregnant on her honeymoon (had turned 18 by this time). She quit school to move to live by his family up north. They’re still together after all this time (14 years this past April) and she just had their 5th child, unplanned, because they don’t believe in birth control.

I found it incredibly icky at the time. Still squicked out about it all.
