I could use some help in accepting my perpetual state of singleness.

I (33F) have been single for 7 years, and have had very few dates that interest me enough to go on a second date. Because of how RARE it is for me to be attracted to a guy, I find myself falling for a man/fantasizing pretty early on when I feel like we click. (I know this is 100% the opposite of what FDS preaches – I’m trying to improve!)

I recently went on a date with a man whom I felt a strong connection with, and he asked me on a second date only for him to cancel the day before, attempt to reschedule, and then never respond back to my acceptance of the rescheduled day… I haven’t heard from him in over a week since he texted to reschedule. In the past, I would have reached out to find out why he didn’t respond/if everything was okay. This time around, I’m taking it as a message that he wasn’t as interested in me as I am in him. I’m really disappointed, but I won’t chase him.

I deleted Hinge because I’m finding it makes me feel more and more hopeless with every mismatch. I’m trying to get past the feelings of loneliness where I crave having a loving boyfriend to cuddle with! I have a weighted blanket, but it’s not the same. My friends are all pretty strict with social distancing right now/ have busy family lives that don't leave much time for me. Human connection during COVID has been hard to come by for me.

Please hit me with your best reasons to LOVE being single!

So far, I have:

- My house stays clean and organized the way I like it.

- A man’s bad day won’t impact my mood.

- No possibility of feeling “let down” by lack of romantic gestures/ thoughtfulness from a man who I’m in a relationship with.

- I don’t have to compromise about where/when I eat meals.

- I don’t have to worry about a man’s wandering eye.

- I have extra time for my hobbies/passions.

- No worrying about someone else’s financial choices.

- I don’t have to worry about dressing up and looking good on a regular basis (comfortable clothing most days!)
