Teacher's assistant said I shouldn't do it (I liked the guy he seemed fun, but still didn't let me do it). Said I would have problems finding sociology sources to back it up. Which is true, sociology papers wouldn't agree with that. I would have had to draw from other fields like psychology or whatever. But it made me think about the institutionalism of feminism. How slowly it must grow if you have to use sources from within their realm, you can only add to the conversation incrementally. +1 +1 +1. No radical differences when you wanna pull from psychology or whatever relevant field that says "hey, whatever your mind thinks about, you have a tradeoff with what you're not thinking about, maybe we're doing more harm than good here". IMO sociology will be a painfully slow development unless they start allowing other academic sources, not just sociology. It's like the blueprint for groupthink. Sociology/women's studies doesn't allow you to cite outside of their literature, /r/feminism doesn't allow a single offhand comment, men in real life wanna fuck the women and many of them weigh the cost and benefit of calling them out, decide why do that why not just enjoy life, then you got the whole social aspect of it. I literally live in a city where women make 300, 400 a night and they don't spend their money on stock market or building a business or anything like that. Instead they do shit like buy square watermelons and rent downtown apartments for fucking 2500 a month, and they're still feminists. That is completely, 100% because of the social aspect of feminism. U cannot be a 19-25 year old female making that much money while in university and still say society is fucking you over. "pro feminist posts on Instagram" unless it's just complete groupthink and fitting in socially.
